What it feels like in Houston this morning.
Glad to be heading out to the Hill Country later this morning. Gonna be a very pleasant Spring afternoon as much drier air rolls in behind those showers.

Wife and I gonna be passing through Luling tomorrow at lunchtime tomorrow. I know City Market is no longer considered a top tier BBQ spot, but I still enjoy popping in at least once a year. Brisket is extremely hit or miss, but their ribs are still worth the trip, and it's nice to be able to get more than enough BBQ for 2 people for less than $30 in this day and age. And you best believe I'm grabbing a couple bottles of sauce to go.

I went to dinner at a nice restaurant in town the other night. Parked next to a CyberTruck. It had full matte black PPF on it - good move to save the paint, but hilarious that’s the only real option for protecting it.
I thought to myself “I wonder what winner in here is driving that.” Then I proceed to the (small) bar and proceed to hear a guy sitting by himself in a full conversation about himself only - dating life, missed opportunities in BTC, people he should have fired, the while nine yards - at full volume on his AirPods. It wasn’t hard to figure out who the driver was.
The woooooooorst
Houston? If so, I think I may have seen the exact same truck downtown on Sunday. Matte black Cybertruck. First time I've seen one in the flesh. Looked like a prop from Demolition Man.
Direct quote to my wife "Jesus, that's the shittiest looking car I've ever seen. Can you imagine the douche that must be driving that thing?"
Now, with this info, I no longer have to imagine.

Harris Co. DA primary ended up being an absolute blowout. Ogg lost by 50!

Powell doesn't seem to have set off any alarm bells in his appearance before Congress this morning.
10-year down a tad to 4.10, stock indices up between 0.5% and 1%.

Been warm and muggy AF to start this week, but looks like temps should throttle back a bit after today, and the next 10-15 days to follow look much more seasonal.
Relatively chilly this weekend with highs in the 60's and lows in the 40's in much of state. Barring a surprise cold snap later in March, Saturday and Sunday are probably the 2 "coldest" days we'll experience until the first strong front of the Fall.

Seeing very early signs of price improvements. I keep an eye on Boyd's seafood market down in Texas City since they post prices just about every day. They have sacks for $5.55/lb today, which is still crazy high, but that's down from $6.99/lb just a week ago.
Weekday prices continuing to slowly improve:
This week they've got $4.44/ for field run, $5.22 for preferred.
Weekend prices still obnoxious:
$5.88 for field run, $6.55 for preferred

Just within the past year or so, I've started falling asleep earlier and waking up significantly earlier than I ever used to. Have started hitting up my neighborhood HEB at like 7 in the morning on weekdays. It's amazing, like having the whole store to yourself. Very good chance you'll be the only person in whatever aisle you go down.
On the downside, I'm turning into an old boomer when it comes to falling asleep during movies and tv shows. Wife and I usually watch an hour-long episode of whatever series we're streaming after dinner. She always wants to watch a 2nd one, but half the time I'm struggling to not doze off through the final 20 minutes of the first episode, even when it's something I'm really interested in. Often have to catch up on the end of the previous night's episode before dinner.

As tends to happen about once or twice a year, tweaked my lower back 3 Fridays ago on the 2nd to last rep of a hard workout. Wasn't particularly bad and was still able to do so most of my workouts the following week, but then I totally re-aggravated it on the crunch machine last Monday, just when I thought I was fully 100% again. Had some rough days last week and was only able to do low-impact cardio and light lifting that didn't involve bending my back too much. Feeling pretty good again, but definitely gonna ease back into the routine this week. Still kinda stiff when I get up from sitting too long or riding in my truck.
Last time I really had this issue was around Memorial Day last year, and then I started getting much better about stretching every day. Had 7-8 months with no issues, which of course led to getting lazy about my stretching. I just have to drill it in my head that I'm damn near 40, and despite having a pretty consistent exercise routine, I simply have to do things properly or I'm gonna keep having problems.

Yet another merger.
QuoteUS energy firm Chord Energy announced it would acquire Canada's Enerplus, creating a Williston basin-focused entity with an enterprise value of $11 billion. The combined company is expected to be a premier operator in the Williston basin in North Dakota, with about 1.3 million net acres and 287,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in production. -
High of 88 forecast for Houston tomorrow. Would break the previous record for 3/5 by 4 degrees.
90 in Austin. Existing record is 91.

Hell of a game. I was nervous as shit.

Holy shit.

Got away with a couple fastballs right down the gut to Mora. Final strike was a good pitch on the edge though.
-
Cats just don't have the pitching depth to consistently win these kinds of games. Not the first time we've shot out to a big lead early and watched it slip away.

Nope. Been around since the shaggybevo days. Never been a secret I'm a bobcat.

Looks like we saw Texas bring in a linebacker-sized reliever and decided to do the same. 6'6, 240.

It's a real mystery.
I went to TXST.
-
TXST gonna need more runs, b/c having a bullpen game like this is not to our advantage.
-
Horns getting in on the HBP action too. I believe that's 3 for each team now.
-
Y'all probably should have gone to Boehm earlier. Dude just cruised through the toughest part of the lineup.
-
Ryne Farber is gonna be a real player. Dude can hit.

Solid jobs number in the February report, but wage growth was soft. U3 went up, but so did prime age population/employment ratio. Overheated January report revised down closer to initial expectations (both on jobs added and wage growth).
I would assume pretty much exactly what Fed was looking to see this month after the January surprise. Markets believe a June rate cut is more likely than it was at 7:29 this morning.
