  1. A few bright spots last night, but overall impression was this Mavs team is going to be more likely to miss the playoffs than to contend. Long stretches of just pathetic defense. Unorganized and inconsistent offense. THJ is a problem, not the good kind. If they can send him out for a couple second round picks they should do it at this point.

On the positive side Luka looks a tiny bit leaner and ready to go, Lively impressed, and Williams fits well with what they need him to do.

I know they’re a man down with Beal out but that Phoenix bench is problematic. I lived though enough of the Drew Eubanks experience when he played for the Spurs to know that if you are dependent on him for anything other than garbage time dunks you are in trouble. Suns are going to have to play their stars 40 minutes a night.

I just saw the best five minutes of eubanks career

  3. First impressions of Nurkic with the Suns -- keeping Looney off the boards early, setting quality screens, solid effort.

LOL as I'm typing he gets lost on a switch and Looney throws down an easy dunk that should have never been open.

  4. I'm probably being too generous, but the depth chart currently has about 5 guys on the DL that I think are NFL guys (Sorrell, Murphy, Sweat, Collins, and maybe Burke, Finkley, and Tapp eventually). That this level of talent is not dominating teams like Houston High is incredibly damning for the coaches.

Quinn is hitting 70% of his passes and has something like 18 TDs and 3 INTs. Texas is 6-1 for the first time in I don't know how long. Our only loss was in the waning seconds to a top ten team due to a combo of poor coaching, shitty defense, and penalties. Sure, there are plenty of places for improvement but Quinn has led us to a great season so far. People clamoring for MM will get their wish soon enough -- I hope to hell we win without Quinn but I have my doubts.

Murphy is almost certainly a significant downgrade at the position in almost every way, but my god did y'all clock the velocity on that first pass he threw at Mitchell? Off target but the zip made Jeff George blush.

I'm waiting for the old "there was no Bible present."

If he starts talking about the fringe on the flags in the courtroom, admiralty, and maritime law then we'll know it's going well.

  7. The highest paid individuals in our healthcare system are hospital system CEOs and insurance executives. Anyone not in favor of single payor socialized medicine is either an abject moron or has never interfaced with the idiocy of our current system.

I just found this information which is relevant to me b/c I deal with Molina's fuckery every single day:

    Joseph Zubretsky
    President and CEO, Molina Healthcare
    Total compensation: $22,131,256

The guy running the company that is providing coverage for a ton of poor people is taking home $22 million American dollars every year for the great feat of denying, delaying, and complicating care for thousands of lower income, lower education patients. You could pay for a hundred internal medicine doctors for that.

Still thinking about this. I know this is a dumb pot stirring list on purpose but honestly, if you're going to have Lebron and Street Clothes at number 4 and two dudes who MIGHT give you 50 games together if your lucky at number 7, then you have to at least have Ingram and Zion on the list. When he's played Zion has proven to be every bit as dominant as he was hyped to be.
