    I have no idea.

    Why?

Because, statistically speaking, they are the most likely perpetrators. Because for every 50 perps arrested, only 1 is female. If your job was to bust perps, wouldn’t you go to an area that has the highest probability of success? That’s why there is an inequality in the statistics. When 97% of the source comes from lower income minority neighborhoods, it’s logistics that is painted as targeting and racial profiling. I mean, should we profile more Asians at the airport to avoid the appearance of picking on Middle Eastern people? Where’s the logic in that?

Ok, this statement should disqualify you from giving any travel advice.  There is a shit ton to do in and around Prague, you just have to get out of Old Town to know about it.  That said, I will agree that the thermal baths and funky bars do give Budapest a slight edge...although I decided to move to Prague instead.

There is something to do in every big city. Prague is no different. If one were to visit Old Town, Wenceslas Square, the clock, the Charles Bridge and maybe walk to the castle lookout, you’ve pretty much seen the best of Prague. You don’t need a week there to appreciate it. 2 days is plenty.

Like I said, it's impossible for you to understand. These are kids. 15, 16, and 17 year old children. How many of us experimented with things on the way to adulthood? Were we not told 1000 times the repercussions of our actions yet we did it anyway? Kids make mistakes. Lot's of them. It doesn't matter whether it's the suburbs or the inner city, that sentiment holds true. Now imagine if some of the dumbass shit you did at 16 or 17 ruined your life. Somewhere at this very moment hoards of teeny bopper girls are shoplifting. Somewhere some kids are smoking weed or popping pills. Somewhere tonight a bunch of suburban kids are going to try to buy some coke. And somewhere some poor teenager is going to be dumb enough to try and sell it to them. The difference is when that kid gets caught for being a dumbass teenager his life is going to effectively be over. Meanwhile, the suburban teenager caught with drugs is going to have them confiscated and driven home so his parents can handle the situation, while the inner city kid will get tried as an adult.

It's not an excuse, it's the truth. When we start seeing them as kids and stop seeing them as monsters, maybe then we will be able to help them.

I’m a former white suburban kid. I became a teenage father. I stepped up to the plate and became a “Dad”. (Husband too) Was I wrong to fuck my now wife because the condom broke? Was I doing anything different than any other horny teenage guy out there? Is it fair that I was saddled with lifelong responsibilities as a result of my actions when my buddies got away with it?

You’re barking up the wrong sympathy tree. My race had zero to do with my decisions, consequences or acceptance of my self-created situation. All I’m hearing is excuses for why black kids have it so tough while white kids are getting away with being druggies/dealers en mass. Of course black inner city kids are targeted. Why do you think that is beyond “White Privilege”?

You have to be open minded to "get it', which you aren't. People are being given sentences that you cannot come back from in life at ages so early that life is over before they hit 20. When a person is faced with no real options at an age where maturity hasn't rounded them out yet you get what you see. But of course your rudimentary solution is "don't sell drugs". The problem is you need a viable alternative in order to get results you are looking for, and those kids aren't going to get hired by anyone so.....

That's why they don't listen to strong black leaders. Not because they don't want to, but because the shipped sailed on being gainfully employed by the age of 18. If you would come off your high horse and head on down and volunteer your time to talk to some inner city kids you would see that for yourself. You would talk to kids and hear the despair in their voice, and see it in their faces. I gave a kid like that a job, but it's basic janitorial work. Everyday I hope that the pressure of not making enough money doesn't break him. 2 years down the line and he is holding steady, but how long can a guy keep that up? He is trying his best, but if he folds you will come back with the same ole rhetoric about behavior changes, not knowing that this guy has been trying his best to make it in life.

    What a load of shit.

Stealing a loaf of bread to feed your family, while done for a noble reason, is still a crime. Are you seriously suggesting that blacks in poor neighborhoods are slinging H to invest heavily in their stock portfolios during a bear market? We don’t get to absolve people of personal responsibility simply because the stats are ugly. A person with a mental defect, such as retardation, can be excused for their actions because they don’t have the mental capacity to use social cues. A black drug dealer isn’t on the same level simply because it’s an easy solution to making money and their environment is more accepting of committing a crime. It's hard to be empathetic to the cause.

The solution is a circle. The only way real change will occur is if strong black leaders request the aid of influencers in the white community. But, the refrain has always been “We don’t need whites to tell us how to solve our problems” for decades. In fact, attempting to do so makes you insensitive and a racist. Requesting such makes you an “Uncle Tom”. As long as that division is there, nothing is going to change. Had MLK not had the support of JFK, we’d all be going to work an extra day in January. Putting “black pride” on a pedestal isn’t going to help the cause any either. I’m not proud to be white because it wasn’t something that was earned. When you create a double standard for this, you are creating an unwarranted chasm in relations when the goal is supposedly equality for all.

When we look at actual climate change instead of treating race as a football game, perhaps we have a chance at progressing. As long as the yellow flags are constantly tossed, and plays are reviewed, the game will be needlessly prolonged.

Admit it.  Not every trip you've taken has been to a five star resort or as a guest of royalty.

    I beg to differ sir...

Haven't been to AK, HI, WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, ND, SD, MI, NC, SC. So, 13 out of 50. AK and WY are the only ones I have any real desire to go to. Wouldn't mind Portland or Seattle either on a West Coast trip.

    Riddle me this:

If Thanos' whole deal is that the universe is over-populated and there's not enough resources to sustain everyone, then why doesn't he just use the Infinity Gauntlet to create more resources?  He can reshape the very fabric of reality to his will. Why does half the universe have to die?

And then what happens when the universe repopulates?  is he gonna have to snap his fingers again?  I don't think Thanos has thought his cunning plan all the way through.

    Too many clicks

just watched all 10 episodes on a flight. it was really good. lots of fun, the right amount of cheese and nostalgia, but also really good.

Had time to kill so I ended up watching it anyway. It’s reminicent of a 1990’s-esq WB network teenage drama production written by adults to be a composite of what they think today’s teens are like. Zabka is the only good actor. (The daughter is not bad either) I like that it doesn’t take itself seriously, but it ventured too far the other way and ended up in corny territory. Seriously, Johnny doesn’t know about social media because he’s SOOOOOO 80’s man?

Did the “actor” that played Daniel’s son win some sort of contest to be cast? He’d come in 2nd in a bulldog lookalike pageant.

Surprised it’s not super cheesy. Half expected it to be a parody of itself

Not going to watch it. No way it’s not cheesy as hell.

  9. It was a stupid plot and premise. Couldn't Carrie just have ducked into another room, out of site, and just taken off the wig? The police would have still been looking for the blonde woman and she could have escaped. I've know several bi-polar people and none of them would go full on insane if they didn't get their meds. We're somehow supposed to believe that she is equipped to work as a Special Opps agent? That's not it works...

I was convinced that Yveny would have shown her sister and daughter captive to coerce a statement. Especially after his comment about knowing all about her with the meds. That would have been more interesting.

The President was annoying and the actress sucked. She was supposed to be sympathetic but her attempt to appear "tough" just made her an egotistical bitch.

That sounds like a good excursion. BA's premium economy is actually a step up, unlike the American carriers. Almost what old business class used to be, or a domestic first seat here.

If you are mobile, I'd get away from Knightsbridge while they shop. It's not very British anymore, and there is a distinct lack of booze. I saw three pubs being converted to coffee shops last week. Shepherd Market is right up the road, and is like a medieval square. There's several pubs, and you may catch a royal or celebrity while you are there. There's also the Polish-Mexican restaurant.

Somewhat related, I learned from my driver this trip, who was driving some Kuwati princess a couple weeks ago, that like 70% of Kuwati women are obese now, because they eat cake and drink coffee all day every day.

This is the truth. Back in '98, when I was a resident of the area, I'd go to work at the Texas Lone Star Saloon, head to Stanhope Arms for a pint and end the night with a pizza from Hart's the Grocer for 50p. Maybe grab a movie at Blockbuster on the way home from the arcade. Now those are office buildings, Starbucks and Tesco surrounded by Halal Fish & Chips shops. There was only 1 pub on Gloucester Road all the way to Hyde Park last July and it was shite.

When 99% of the people own 1% of the wealth, they will eventually take 99% of the wealth in one way or another.   The uber-wealthy should be pushing for reform that will help with distribution of wealth.   It's in their best interest to get in front of the problem but I understand why they don't want to do so now.

Why would they? Being wealthy doesn’t automatically make you altruistic nor should it. Do you redistribute your accumulated wealth to assist others or do you provide for your family and give what you can when you can? The whole 1% argument is a fallacy anyway. The average American won’t make in a lifetime what the 1% pays for 1 year of taxes. In that sense, they are already the #1 donors to society. Without their taxes, it would get passed on to the 99% to makeup the deficit.

As a "pro-choice" liberal commie bastard who has friends and family of similar (though not nearly as far left) persuasion, I cannot think of any abortion discussion I have ever had with a fellow lib that was anything other than abortion being a "difficult choice" or an "unfortunate situation". It's sad. It's not a good thing.

The idea that most "pro-choice" people view having an abortion as morally and ethically equitable to taking birth control is a fucking joke.

This is only true among "pro-life" conservatives and, well, men.

Libs aren't nearly as hateful and judgemental towards women in that situation.

Putting your dog down is a difficult choice. It’s not viewed as “bad” or “evil” or “murder” other than empathizing with the emotions associated with the attachment to one’s pet/friend. It’s something that needs to be done sometimes.

Of course Pro-lifers don’t equate abortion to birth control. That keeps in line with the whole “Pro-life” thing. Not sure who has this idea that you are arguing against. I stated the exact opposite of that.

I’m socially Liberal. Yet somehow our viewpoints don’t meet. Is such a thing possible?

  13. “Poverty” is too abjective a word to use for this. Poverty in the U.S. and poverty in India are not even in the same ballpark. There’s no homeless shelters or Operation Kindness in the shantyvilles.

This is my entire point. The vast majority of people have fairly consistent views on abortion itself. Most people think it's a bad thing. Virtually everyone is opposed morally to 3rd trimester abortions.

"Pro-life" and "pro-choice" are political labels vaguely revolving around the topic of abortion writ large, but are primarily simple labels of politics and are tied to a host of other worldview disputes that are only tangentially related to abortion. Even those two labels, taken at face value, do not disagree, and they actually tell us very little about the individual beliefs of those with the title. It is literally useless to talk about it in terms of "pro-life" and "pro-choice".

Define “most people” when explaining their view on abortion. Most of those not opposed to abortion don’t view it as “bad”. They view it as an option, just like Plan B or birth control. If you take preventative measures to not get pregnant, but still do, abortion should be a legal option to terminate the unwanted pregnancy. Where I would agree is that there is a stigma against those that do not take any precautions. While supported, they are viewed as careless idiots.

Pro-Life/Pro-abortion are apt terms both politically and socially. There is a less than 1% grey area for the straw men arguments. (Rape, incest, mother’s life at stake, etc.) Not having an issue with gay marriage doesn’t kick you out of the Republican camp.
