Initially there was a lot of speculation that the injury Alex suffered would end his career. Hate to see a classy player go out that way if that's the case, regardless he'll still be getting paid the big bucks.

Yea I've posted about it before but the only part about Texas basketball that is intriguing is the potential to take it past what Rick Barnes brought to us, before that we weren't anything great.
We do have NBA superstar KD and NBA fringe star LA that we have to use but acting like we are Kentucky or Duke is dumb. We aren't spending money in basketball like we will in football. It's just not happening.
Exactly. That's my firm belief as well that we'll be stuck with Shaka for several more years no matter how badly the seasons pan out due to his massive buyout. Money is never an issue with the football program, but some deluded posters seem to believe Texas is a top tier basketball school and that's simply not the case. Texas isn't a Duke, Kentucky, UNC or KU. The interim AD fucked Texas over for the foreseeable future and CDC has to be face palming realizing he can't justify buying Shaka out when attendance and interest in the Bball program has hit rock bottom.

Losing 3 of the last 4 games in blowout fashion by 30+ points clearly leads me to believe the current roster isn't going to get it done and it's time to go all in on a rebuild.
Allowing Tony to walk and keeping Mills around was a mistake, having Tony to start in Murray's absence would've been beneficial because White/Forbes are struggling. Holding onto Kawhi until after the draft was a mistake. Bringing back Marco was a mistake. The minutes that Cunningham has been sucking up were a mistake. Not involving Bertans more and giving his minutes to Cunningham was a mistake.
It's time for a youth movement, in a matter of weeks if things haven't changed I'd begin making calls to dump off LMA, DDR and hopefully dump off Gasol and Mills as well. I'd much prefer enduring growing pains with a crop of young players with potential opposed to a cast of vets who clearly aren't getting it done.

Will the rest if you judge me if I adopt the Mavs to some degree?
I've been in Dallas for 4 years and been to a lot of games. And I don't feel like drowning myself in grain vodka when I watch them play.

Another ass beating. Cool, is this going to become common from here on out?

This was the equivalent of Rick Barnes losing to Chaminade. I've been saying it for several years Shaka was an overpaid mistake. He has recruited some good talent and done absolutely nothing with it. He's just over .500 at Texas, under .500 in the Big 12 and 0-2 in the tourney, that's pathetic. Patterson made some shitty hires during his brief tenure as AD.

Is he friends with Joe Mixon?

Let's turn the page and talk about everyone's favorite lightning rod, Lebron James and the Lakers. At 11-9 a quarter way through the season, they sit in 7th place in the West, which is ironically led by the Clippers at this moment in time (Doc reminds folks he can coach). Frankly, that's about where I thought they'd be at this stage. A young team with Lebron trying to figure out how to play with all the Frankenstein pieces Magic assembled. The pitch to Lebron in the offseason was to get more playmakers for Lebron to play with so he didn't have to carry so much of the offensive burden. Let Lebron be a finisher, facilitator and playmaker in spurts. Welp..... that lasted 20 games.
Lebron, who bought in publicly, is back doing his thing. Playing the point and facilitating the offense almost full time. It's just how the guy is built and while drawing up a new scheme for him may work conceptionally, Lebron isn't built that way, nor is he really a patient person. Windhorst, his personal ESPN blowhard, put a piece yesterday about how Lebron is back at the point and is now regularly ignoring Luke Walton's play calls.... LOL!!!! Shocking, I know.... To Walton's credit, he gets it.
All of sudden, the West is really wide open after the Warriors. The Rockets are lost, Utah is a bust, Nuggets are up and coming but too young, and the Thunder are dealing with Westbrook injury issues. A 2 or 3 seed is there for the taking for a team willing to make a move.... What will Magic and Lebron do?
It'll be interesting to see who the Lakers sign next season. I can't imagine KD or Kawhi wanting to come in and play second fiddle to Lebron even with the allure of LA and a max contract. A Kyrie/LeBron reunion tour is about as likely as hell freezing over. GS are favorites to retain Klay and Kristap is a RFA so it'll be difficult to pry him away from the Knicks. That leaves guys like Jimmy Butler and Kemba Walker as teams for the Lakers to target or even Boogie if he bounces back from his Achilles injury. If Philly makes a run this season it'll be difficult for him to leave, post season success is just as big of a factor to him as money which is evident with what transpired in Minnesota.

Makes you wonder how good Steve McNair really was. Guy might have been the greatest QB of all time for all we know.
McNair was tough as nails and would've excelled under a competent HC. It was embarrassing how they treated him at the end locking him out of the facility, he would've made a great mentor for VY as well. Could you imagine if Goff was still stuck under Fisher?

I couldn't envision Pop wanting to be a part of a rebuild. He has nothing left to prove, he's won 5 NBA Titles, Coach of the year numerous times and led an impressive streak of consecutive playoff appearances for two decades. It was one hell of a run, just a shame that a dirty, no good mother fucker brought on the beginning of the end with a cheap play in the Conference Finals several years ago. That is where things began to unravel.
Losing Murray hurt the team defensively, but ultimately even with Murray the Spurs would've been a fringe playoff team competing for a 6, 7 or 8 seed. The bench is awful this season and White/Forbes were never ready to assume major roles. White was expected to be a bench player and he was thrust into the lime light if only for a moment before his injury and Forbes was intended to be a player who was sparingly used. Marco is flat out bad, Patty's salary is a detriment and he's shot the team into massive deficits on several occasions, the shell of Pau Gasol is a handcuff salary and performance wise. Poetl will likely take a year to catch on and begin to make an impact. Defensively this is the worst I've ever witnessed the Spurs under Pop. I won't lie when I learned the Spurs were bringing back Pau on a "team friendly" deal I believed it was a good move, that is until the length of the contract and salary were revealed then my jaw dropped.

It's going to be a long and painful season, gents. Pops may be a hell of a coach, but you can't expect him to make chicken salad out of chicken shit.

The refs were the "12th man" last evening. They jobbed the fuck out of LSU.

Well, shit. The officiating in this game is some of the worst I've ever witnessed.

fuck. aggy is gonna win.
It's the aggy we're talking about here. They could fuck up a wet dream. They could fuck up a one car funeral. They could fall out of a boat and not hit water.

The first edition of the new Sugar Bowl between the champions of the SEC and Big 12 will be Jan. 1, 2015. If the SEC or Big 12 champion advances to the national semifinals, each conference would then provide another team for the Sugar Bowl.

Not a big shocker there. Coach cool never quite panned out as a HC. He'll latch on somewhere as an OC, I'm sure.
-
How badly does LSU thump the aggy in collie station? LSU's offense is pretty shitty, but I could see them winning by 14-20 points. It'll be a sound reminder that the aggy will never be better than a 3rd place team in their division in a similar manner to the Big 12 south days.

Take the loss pussy part two.

I guess I'm in the minority here. Beating OU once in a season is a great feeling. Beating them twice in a season denying them their usual reign over the Big 12 would be just too sweet of a feeling. LJH and Collin Johnson would both be good for 100+ yards in a rematch against OU and their shitty secondary.
