Bad heartburn has stopped being a nightly occurrence as of about 2 weeks ago.  Still get it, but manageable with tums and Prilosec.  Wine is an absolute no go at this point. I think it also gave me the shits, but that seems to have calmed down.

Definitely eating less. Getting some more low impact exercise now that my calf has healed. Still having issues with my body trying to sabotage me between my back and pec. But I was 206 the second week of February when I started, and my weight this week was 196, so I’m happy for the progress. Probably stopping after one more month, hopefully the eating habits will have set in a bit.

I guess I was lucky on Ozempic, almost zero side effects. I would advise really leaning into those healthy eating habits now. My insurance dropped coverage in Sept and I'm already plus 20 lbs.

It's funny, people on the Ozempic Reddit page are depressed because the shot is "robbing them of their food enjoyment". I'm angry and depressed that the "food noise" in my head has been turned back on. Diet and exercise is great, but damn, Ozempic was like hitting hyperdrive in Star Wars.

Y'all keep up the good work and keep fighting the good fight.

  2. This looks like a great read. My dad was the General Manager of our local public radio station for many years. This could have been me back in the 80's, but he never would give me a time slot to play cool stuff, even when I was a college student in the Communications department.

Just a steady stream of news, jazz, classical and pledge fund drives. 😂

so you would have been in favor of hiring RT away from UTEP coming off a 12-12 season to replace shaka, yes? yeah i don’t think so.

this is a perfect example of fans not understanding the importance of coaching. it’s easy to look at the players on the court and be able to see what they’re good at and where they struggle, and even easier to accept that as fact. not so easy to sigh when it’s coaches we’re talking about.

Dillion Mitchell is not going to suddenly become a knock down three point shooter- easy to accept.

Brock Cunningham is not suddenly going to become a PG,  bringing the ball up and initiating the offense- easy to accept.

Chendall Weaver is not going to be pulling up off the dribble from 17 feet and knocking down jumpers- easy to accept.

Rodney Terry is not suddenly going to become a great D-1 head coach after nearly three decades of proving that his ceiling at this level is that of a top assistant- so, so difficult for people to accept.

I'll just say this...there was not a lot of broken hearts in the UTEP fan base when Beard came calling for Terry.

    Oh that's a fun hire

Only on the job a few days and already filling up his Twitter/X timeline with players accepting offers. Just happy to finally have someone young and not another retread looking for his final retirement package. ⛏️⛏️

  5. I introduced my 75 year old mom to The Bear, by watching Fishes after Thanksgiving dinner.  I am an only child, so that family chaos is totally foreign.

She was traumatized and said she had to watch Hallmark Christmas movies the rest of the night. Oops

  6. Coach Knight shows his soft side during this interview. Growing up a Miner fan in the 80's, Coach Knight was our second favorite coach because of his friendship with Coach Haskins and the stories you would hear.

The picture was taken pregame in El Paso when they both came out dressed as each other.

  7. For old school, one more vote for L&J, and I'll add Kiki's.

For something modern, ELEMI. James Beard semifinalist. Very cool place and food was outstanding.

Hilton Garden Inn University is at the UTEP front gate and less than 5 minute walk to the Arena. Nothing fancy, (it's a Garden Inn) but location is great for Haskins Center. Hotel Indigo and Stanton House are cool for downtown.  The Paso Del Norte was taken over by Marriott and had a big renovation, same for The Plaza but different owner.

You can check out ELEMI on Hulu's Taste of the Nation with Padma.

I am going to finish it tonight.  You cannot be on your phone during this show.  It’s not that it is complicated, but there is so much non-verbal acting going on that you miss.   I watched 1 and 2 twice as a result.  No more phone the rest of the season.

I love Fak.  Is that his real look with the neck tattoos?  If so, great find.  Kinda like Snoop in The Wire.  Get me a legit Chicago PWT, likable dude to play a supporting character and we will make them a star.

Y'all don't know the genius of Matty Matheson? His cookbooks are great.

Not anymore, but I always had one in my car up to maybe early 2000's.  The LA Bible back in the day.  But I had the city so wired back then I could usually make my way from anywhere to anywhere.  Now I just dummy it with Waze.

The Thomas Guide with lots of Post-it notes as bookmarks was my best friend when I moved to Orange County in 1998.
