  1. I'm glad this thread popped up on page one. I have been into Above and Beyond for awhile now. I'm really digging the Cercle channel on YouTube.

My age shows with The Orb, Orbital, Armin Van Buren, Chemical Bros, Propellerheads. I love the drop as much as I love trance.

Last month me and the girlfriend went to see Dombresky. Maybe a couple of 50 year olds shouldn't have been at the club, we caught Covid at the show, but it was a fun night.

    So what’s your list?

L'imperatrice, Japanese Breakfast,  Joshua Ray Walker, Muna, Arlo Parks, Luna Luna, Wallows, War on Drugs, Spoon, Phoenix.

I guess I'm the outlier, but Alt-nation is still my first setting on XM.

Regarding buying records.  (I starting buying albums when I was about 10 or so, and I'm 49 now).  I prefer the orginal pressings vs. the 180 gram re-releases.

The problem with the 180's are bascially what dcbc mentioned.  They are hit or miss.

    I don't own tons of the new releases, but for example;

My copies of Ryan Adams and the Cardinals "Cold Roses," Whiskytown's first record, and Elton John's "Honky Chateau," sound phenominal.  My copies of Black Crowes "Southern Music and Harmony Companion," and REM's "Automatic for the People," don't sound very good at all.

I got to thinking about why.  Well hell, all the vinyl pressers in the 70's and 80's (who knew what they were doing" are either retired or no longer with us.

My other problem is the price of all records these days.  Good lord.  Most of my records that I bought mostly in the 90's and 2000's, have a $2.98-$5.98 price tag on them. Sigh.

Also, the plural of vinyl is vinyl.  :)

Another reason I'm not fond of 180 gram reissues, a lot of albums become 2 disc sets. I hate having to flip sides every 3rd song.

I have a 1959 copy of Marty Robbins Gunfighter Ballads that has amazing   fidelity.  No need to upgrade it.

    Speaking of Everlast:

Not hits by any stretch but also loved these:

Everlast with Ice-T and the Syndicate was my soundtrack back in 1990.  Imagine my surprise when he showed up with a bald head in House of Pain

  5. I've been really happy with my dad's 1977 copy, but that UHQR package is amazing.

My December was pretty quite. Target versions of Highlights by The Weeknd and Tron soundtrack by Daft Punk.

UT is gonna say “buy season tickets now to lock in your rate for 5+ years so you can get SEC games at a Big 12 price.” Reminds me of 1999 when my little brother paid Rolling Stone  magazine $99 for a lifetime subscription. My parents are still getting that shit every month even after we tried to cancel many times.

That $99 was one of my best purchases. My address label says Expires 2058. I'll be 90 when it's done.

Have an Edwin Jagger razor and have used Feather blades but I've become disappointed with them and recently switched to Astra blades and have been happy.

Had a sample pack of different blades and Astra was the best for me. After 10 years, it's still the only brand I buy.

  8. If you're on Instagram, check out Jesse Pyle's feed. She was in EP last week and hit up 1700 and Desert Oak, both look legit.

As a EP native, I will die on the hill that says Chicos is a damn embarrassment to the city.

L&J should be on everyone's list. Kiki's a close second.

  9. Loving the 80's graphics and The Nice Price sticker. I've not paid much attention to Mayer in the past, but I think this is modern day Yacht Rock for sure.

yeah it was incredibly ground-breaking. i remember the first time, my jaw just hitting the floor scene after scene after scene. i saw it 3 times in the first week!

Almost 30 years later and I still remember everyone walking out just stunned by what we just witnessed. Being 52 now, 90's indie cinema is my happy place.
