  1. Ramey currently 6-8 FG (3-3 3PM), 15 pts and 3 reb. 18:13 still to play.

Seems to be playing with a little more freedom. Think he may have taken on too much “pressure” while here - to be an outspoken “leader” and defensive stopper. Not saying he shouldn’t have taken on those responsibilities. But maybe should’ve let more of those come to him. Good to see him doing well though
  2. F Klotz! I got pepper sprayed outside of “The Drink” one night because of his ass. He tried to hit on a buddy’s GF, group confrontation spilled outside onto 6th, I tried to play peacekeeper and APD comes over to diffuse the situation by pepper spraying the only brother involved…even though I was attempting to diffuse the SH! Only time in my life i’ve been sprayed. Although it did lead to a few co-eds kindly applying milk to my face

  3. Enthused to these young guys and how they mesh with the older dudes. Offensively I’m interested to see the approach. Are we going to be the typical “motion” kind of offense most teams run these days? Where you’re basically saying you’re going to out athlete, out-skill your opponent rather than out-execute them. Or will we utilize sets and body movement to help create looks for one another?
On the defensive end, will we be more full court pressure? Or moreso what we were last year, by picking up half court and trying to lock in there. If personnel allows it, i’d love to see at least a compromise. Picking up 3/4s and making it difficult fir opposing offenses (especially those squads with limited ball handlers) from getting into their offense!
I obviously havent followed the offseason additions as much as some, so i’m really kind of a blank slate when it comes to specifics but excited to see what Beard develops with another offseason under his belt!!!

  4. [lawyer hat] Ahem, under § 160.106 of the Texas Westorosi Family Code, all children born to a wife during a marriage are presumed to be the children of the husband. Further, if a proceeding to adjudicate parentage is not commenced within the first 4 years of the child's life, the presumption may not be challgenged. Therefore, the children are Leanor's under law, and therefore not bastards. [/lawyer hat]
Kidding aside, we at least know that the kids are half Targaryen, since there's no question that they are Rhaenyra's kids. So we know that they have the blood of Old Valyria.

Right, i mean Allicent’s aren’t full Targaryen or royalty either. Hers are just as Targaryen and Royalty technically as Rhae’s, right? I mean how much different is House Hightower viewed/perceived than House Strong?

  5. I realize the question is about the last 5 Big XII games but I’m really hopeful we have 6 remaining this season. And getting this one this week will go a long way in making that happen. I dont see anyone running the table in conference. You just gotta get gritty W’s each week (no matter how they look stylistically)

  6. Spot on.  I love living in everyone’s heads rent free.  It is the ultimate projection of envy.

    It’s called “brand enhancement”!
Something unique/special to Texas and Texas alone! No other athletic program conjures up the type of emotions/energy of other fanbases across their entire sports platform like we do! They do it cause they think its a “cool” thing to get shown doing…And the media knows it as well, so they show/encourage it every chance they get to stir things up even more!
So F’em, I can’t wait to see a couple more fanbases take their turns doing it in OMAHA as well!

  7. this Texas tema is, by far, the best team i have ever seen at taking charges. Ivey is so athletic and creative that he has a tendency to get out of control at times. i would love nothing more than two charging fouls on Ivey before the U16 timeout. that's the dream right there. if he sits for long periods then i absolutely can see us going blow for blow with Purdue.

Dont get me wrong, I’ll take him getting into early foul trouble. But i have confidence in our perimeter defenders. They’ve shown to be able to control to some degree good perimeter players (i.e. Agbaji, etc). I just feel its more important for our offensive success to get those bigs (Edey/Williams) into some foul trouble as well. Saw someone post that they dont play heavy minutes to begin with, but even less mins would be even more ideal imo.

  8. This team is coming together and has been playing its best ball as of late. As i mentioned in the season thread, our veteran guards have been nails lately, Timmy Allen has established himself as a go-to player for us, Bishop has become a force around the rim, and even guys like Askew, Febres, and Brock have been contributing here and there. If Disu can somehow get healthy then even as a guy who plays 12-15 minutes in a game he can really contribute with defense and rebounding. I really like what i've been seeing from these guys as we approach the postseason.
now, here's the first, and most glaring thought that comes to my mind when we talk about Texas in the tourney: we have got to avoid teams with great size. watching Tennessee play Auburn and Kentucky recently has me in full Mack Brown mode. the thought of facing either of those teams, and any teams like them, just scares you to death.  I don't think that we have any answer for guys like Kessler, Jabari Smith, or Tshiebwe.
with that said, our defense, and the way we take teams out of their comfort zone should play very well in March, as it has throughout Chris Beard's career. if we win our opening game then some 4 or 5 seed team is going to have about a day and a half to prepare for a defense and a style of play that they simply are not used to seeing. so while i think we have a ceiling of reaching the Elite 8, i really do think we could see ourselves in the Sweet 16 with the right matchups. regardless, i haven't been this excited to enter the postseason in years.

I couldnt agree more on the issues we have dealing with teams that are strong/athletic/productive on the interior. We have difficulties guarding and keeping them off the glass, especially late in games closing out good defensive possessions with rebs. Bryson Williams & Timme smoked us offensively and Thamba & Co. worked us on the backboard. I dont think there’s much we can do scheme-wise honestly, just have to hope we get a draw where we can avoid that for a couple rounds.
My biggest concern is also maybe one of our biggest strengths, which is weird. But we play grind it out tough games. Unless its just a bad match-up i dont see anyone blowing us out, but even when we’re “on” our style of play tends to keep most teams in games as well. And to me thats concerning come March. Its called Madness for a reason and the longer a team stays in a game the more chances there are for them to create some magic and steal one to send ya home!!! But thats just kinda who we are right?

  9. This team has:
    •no size
    •no athletes
    •no shooters

    This team is:
    •19-7 (8-5, 15-1 at home)
•no. 14 in KenPom (10th in AdjD, 30th in AdjO)
    •well coached
•designed to win in the tourney

we've got a top 10, possibly top 5 coach nationally, with a bona fide top 5 staff of assistants, and a top 10 recruiting class incoming. just wait until Beard gets a roster full of his own guys. we are in unbelievably great shape moving forward, considering what was left when our previous coach left.

Looking like a tough gritty group that doesnt mind being in close games coming down the stretch!

  10. Really starting to look like a team that has what it takes to win tough tourney games. If they can keep themselves in games (which their defense tends to do), they seem to have what it takes to grind out close W’s…sans that KSt game

  11. If OU wants to make the tournament they need to keep Tanner Groves on the bench. Needs to play less than 20 minutes a game.
The broadcasters kept talking about "the Groves brothers have been nonexistent so it's a miracle they're in the game" which made me chuckle all night. Groves simply doesn't have the athleticism to play at this level which is why Texas prioritized some other bigs over him in the transfer portal. In Austin, Texas was head hunting Groves on both ends.
The worst news for Texas all night was the fact neither Groves brother played much.

Interested to see the (+\-), but they seemed better when Groves wasnt on the floor!
