When Green comes back I think you bring him off the bench. Probably should have earned that right to start anyway. I also don't think Porter and Green can coexist in the same backcourt. So I think you try to move Porter, Gordon, Wood, and House at the deadline.

I'd go with Tate, Brooks, Matthews, Sengun, and Theis.

Hopefully you get a couple of young bigs to back up Sengun and Theis.

Then you have Green, Martin, Christopher, and whoever comes back in those deals.

Agree with a lot of this. Except the moving of Porter. He was starting to demonstrate a lot of maturity before this recent injury. Not ready to to give up on him just yet.

And good to luck silas and staff working the psyche of a 19 yr old picked #2 overall and convincing them its in their best interest to come off the bench. Not saying its a bad or wrong move ultimately, but that's a tough sales job there!

And yeah, no one's gonna argue with moving EG. It's just easier said than done though...it'd take a Morey-level fleece job.

It’s weird how a report comes out Silas is on the hot seat for losing even though that’s what I thought our game plan was to rebuild and now he’s run off a winning streak. We all know that will end and we will end up being bottom 3 but still wonder what they’re plan is or what they expect from him. They needs to flip wood at the deadline.

Either the FO is evaluating him based on criteria other than wins/losses and he wasn't meeting whatever those expectations were (lord only knows what that might be) or those reports were some bogus BS reporting!

Again I’m confused. I thought we wanted to tank? FO want to win now and get a lower pick? That can’t be their plan but I don’t expect much from these guys.

Young guys are starting to find their footing and gaining confidence now that they've found some consistent shooting/spacing. Last night no Green or Wood/KPJ for most of the game, focused in defensively (really went to a zone to keep SGA & co. out the paint) and gutted out a 15 pt come from behind W! It was a pleasant surprise to see them compete on that level. Tate was a man-child as well!

FO, better send down orders to Silas to keep Matthews and Brooks out of rotation if they want to keep losing games imo...they've been key to the improved play.

Wall played in the Rockets last 27 games last season. Team record was 3-24! Yeah him playing isn't going to effect the team's overall record much if at all.

Play him here and there sparingly, especially when you have a top end rotation perimeter player out for a few games like you have now. But wouldn't commit to anything permanent from a role or playing time standpoint. Seeing him out there could end up benefitting both the player and the organization, if there's any chance there's a team/gm out there giving a trade even a smidge of consideration...as long as he doesn't end up injuring himself and then you're F'd!!!

  5. Shooting % especially 3pt % has gone up as well as TOs going down the last couple games. Directly correlates with increased mins for both Matthews and Brooks. Gotta have shooters to compete nightly these days. Looks like a couple have finally made the rotation and its made a significant difference. Neither seem to be complete liabilities defensively either...or at least from the sample size seen.

Exactly.  2 to 3 scores, take the points for sure .  But as much as everyone wants to criticize, we had hot hand at RB and our defense had looked pretty good for 2.5 consecutive quarters at that time.  99 yard drive seemed much harder based on recent events than the hot butter knife express it actually turned out to be.  I ain't mad at decision, little more perturbed at play call.

And my only small small small small complaint about Bijan yesterday was on this run.  If he goes outside instead of turning inside, it's a TD fairly easily.

I'm guessing Sark has intentionally avoided featuring QB called runs for this week. I can see that being the biggest difference in play calling heading into this one...let them load up and focus on Bijon and use Casey's legs to test their ability to adjust in-game!

  7. For those disappointed that Texas didn’t beat TCU worse, Patterson spends an incredible amount of time game planning for Texas vs the rest of the teams on the schedule. He knows beating Texas secures his job, and he hates Texas.

Absolutely. He made it clear this week that he was pissed having to discuss the lil situation after their SMU game cause it was “TEXAS” week. No other program rents mental space in opposition like this one

  8. He gave a pretty coach speak answer to explain going for it on 4th and Goal about trusting his team. Agreed it was "wrong, wrong, wrong" all around and luckily it did not come back to haunt the team because the defense had played solidly deep into the 4th quarter. Sarkisian gets credit for pulling off the win, but if he tries the same shit against OU, Riley will make Texas pay for its stupidity. Don't ever turn down guaranteed points on the road (especially when leading).

Like the decision(maybe not the call. Everyone and their mama knew Bijon was getting it. Naked boot with his wheels, Casey walks in) for all the reasons he gave. Plus to me it was about staying aggressive. Its a mindset and a mentality. Sends a lil message to ur sideline and future opponents too. Dont celebrate on 3rd cause we coming at ur ass all 4 downs if need be!
Now if the fg takes it from a 2 to 3 score game in that spot, yeah throw all that out the window and take the dam pts!

  9. i'm convinced that our shot selection from deep will be the no.1 factor in regards to where we finish in this conference, barring anything like injuries or suspensions. we take so many terrible threes that are just wasted possessions, with the long rebounds negating our size advantage and often leading to transition for the other team. we could have easily put OSU away and won this game by 15-20 today, but we let them stay in it with a couple of different periods where we just chunked up one terrible pull-up three after another.
also, i think that a lot of people are really excited and are quick to claim that we are "for real" this year based on what we've seen, but i still see the same cracks that this program has always suffered for under Shaka, and he is still going to get out-coached on a regular basis in a very tough league. stupid shot selection, stupid turnovers, way too many stupid fouls for multiple key players every game; it's all still there. we've been winning because of our talent, but when we struggle in this league it will be because of our coaching disadvantage and lack of accountability. it's the same as it ever was, except that we finally have a senior laden, super experienced, uber athletic team where the one-and-done is a featuring perimeter player, and not a focal point who plays down low. that kind of talent and experience can cover a lot of those cracks, but make no mistake- they're still there.

Shot selection and TOs are just something you have to live with when ur such a perimeter guard oriented team like this one. Our bigs are more slashers/finishers than they are post players. I’d like to see more perimeter shots come off dribble/drive/kick but but it’s unrealistic to not expect a couple ill advised impatient possessions when guards have the ball in their hands as much as ours do, imo
