i'm seeing hb -135 tonight vs snell, arguably the best pitcher in mlb since late may.  gotta get that pc up and have him only go 5, then deal with the bullpen.

Snell leads NL in ERA.  Also has the highest walk rate.  We should definitely work counts as much as possible.

Also the Padres record is essentially the Pirates.  They are not a good baseball TEAM.

Verlander needs to realize he’s no longer going to overpower anyone with his fastball.
Yes it’s still mid 90’s but it’s straight. He’s going to have to change his approach and start locating that better and instead of working up in the zone he’s going to have to be a corners and lower half guy going forward. He can still get to 300 doing that. If he stays doing this he’s not going to make it and be out of base ball in 3 years as he’ll grow frustrated with 8-10 wins seasons and a 4+ era.

Im sure all that you just typed would be a revelation to JV.  He probably just needs to hear it from someone.

This morning, I'm standing in the kitchen, making coffee, with the door closed so the noise does not wake the kids. For background purposes, it is 6 AM and my wife and I have had exactly no conversations this morning. Additionally, we have had no conversations of any real significance the night before. Nor did we have any sort of disagreement.

My wife opens the door, walks into the kitchen, and says "I think you're wrong."

I think it’s because cycles are more of a novelty than skill compared to no-hitters.

Sure, there are plenty of no-hitters where a guy has a ton of luck and no business getting a no-hitter but I still feel like that’s an accomplishment that based less on randomness than a cycle.  Or maybe it’s because a guy has to perform every half inning / ~27-30 times in a No-hitter vs once every 2-3 innings / 4-5 times.

Sure there is usually at least one freak play to keep a No-hitter alive, but when you have to get 27 outs, I’m more likely to let that slide compared to a cycle when 1 lucky bounce helps you get 25% of the way towards the accomplishment. (Like Altuve’s triple. If the Boston center fielder doesn’t look like a complete rookie/first time ever playing out there and realizes he can’t catch the ball hit to left center and gets ready for the carom, he holds him to a double instead of chasing the ball back towards right field looking like a kid trying to grab a dollar tied to a string

Altuve also wasnt running hard out of the box and it was still an easy triple.
