Toads have injured six B12 QBs in their games this season:

blOU, kansas, okie lite, k-state (2), tech

That’s a tidy narrative, but it’s not entirely true. Sanders was already dealing with a shoulder injury going into the game versus TCU, as well as Martinez for Kansas State.  Other than the Gabriel thing, most of those were pretty much injuries you’d expect in the flow of a physical game.

  2. This feels like Musk, basically forced into the deal, is trying to (clumsily) execute a McKinsey-type strategic plan or hedge fund-style flip.  Massively cut budget via extreme layoffs, develop new revenue streams to inflate value (like the check mark idiocy), make himself look good and then ultimately sell it at a profit.  So far, it's not going so well.

Whitt will hit big on a scoop and then follow it up with a lot of speculation disguised as an actual scoop - same shit he's been doing for years.

Jake and Dan are smart and may have floated that out there to help their bottom line at Cumulus.  I can't see them moving unless the Freak gave them drive time, and I doubt either of them want mornings (plus, I doubt the Freak would dump its morning show that quickly).  But who knows anymore.

  4. My prediction:

    - Despite Collier's resume, affability and general competence, he'll still lose to Patrick by a sizable margin in the general.

    - Patrick will immediately zero in on (1) vouchers and (2) ruining the political careers of any R who endorsed (or even thought about endorsing) Collier.

    - He'll get the Empower Texans crew to throw money at even worse candidates to primary all those Rs.

    - The worse candidates will win the next primary, and the TxLeg will get even worse. Rinse, repeat.

I'd like to think I'm wrong, but prior history suggests otherwise.

You're going to have to explain yourself. Paul was pretty clear on it.

Nope. Paul in Romans 1 was referring to practices relating to idolatry, which included some homosexual acts tied to idol worship - all tied up in Roman society. Night and day from loving, committed relationships. It’s no different than debased heterosexual acts. Plus, modern translations get it wrong anyway and jump right to “teh gays are evil”. As with many things in the Bible, it’s not black and white.

  6. I got in the car this morning to take my kid to practice before school and the Freak was on - and it was some chucklehead breaking down Coastal Carolina vs. James Madison. I kid you not. I realize the morning show starts at 7, but there are probably a lot of people who are regular radio listeners in the 6am hour and this feels like a total giveup on their part.

  7. Ok, the Sunset Lounge segment was finally what I’d been wanting to hear. It felt right, from the jazz bed music to the easy banter. This is what I want from the afternoon show. And Mike closing with the “stay hard, keep jamming and we’ll see ya” was shocking but also appropriate.

Corby's usual hyperbole aside... Mike and Sirois are directly going after his show. Trying to take his livelihood. So I can understand him feeling hurt by it.

I doubt the Musers or hangzone give much of a shit. A morning show with Julie Dobbs isn't going to touch the musers and Ben and Skin were already going against the hangzone for months now.

The time slots they chose made it clear: they're looking to take down the weak link of the Hardline and compete for afternoon drive money.

That’s fair. Although I’m a big Davey fan going all the way back to the Rant, I tire quickly of Bob’s constant Mr. Expert bloviating and Corby’s lack of research or even basic show prep - which is why this new afternoon show intrigues me. We shall see…

you know, if mike would bring back the hammer I would 100% listen.  I wonder if he’s considered it.

He’s way too unstable. I don’t think Mike could ever forgive him (professionally, anyway) for what he put them through.

  10. I don’t get why Corby and the other ticket guys feel so butthurt and talk about Rhyner “destroying relationships”. Sure, it has to sting a little, but the iconoclastic, anti-establishment nature that led him to start the Ticket naturally led him to this point - and though iHeart is definitely the establishment from a radio industry standpoint, this station is definitely an upstart.

This damn thing, the next-to-last climb-turn on Harry Moss Blue, rarely fails to get me.

I have historically always gone right on this, although I note (and it's obvious here), that the rocks to the left probably offer an easier path, but it's exposed further to the left and avoiding a bar strike on that tree is a key consideration.  Like everything around here, it changes a little bit after big rains or long droughts.

That small root right after the biggish one seems almost perfectly positioned to halt your momentum after bumping over the bigger one.  But it seems like it is always something different.  Today it was a pedal strike on the root by the front wheel in the pic.

You can't see it in the pic, but the whole thing is obscured from the run-in because you have to turn a pretty sharp right to climb it.  So you kind of have to go by memory as to how to attack it.  Carrying a bit more speed/momentum would probably help, but it's a little hard to do because it's blind.

I have successfully ridden it a few times, but without any real strategy, just luck.  Lately it has been foiling me.

Looking at that photo gave me minor PTSD.  That damn spot gets me nearly every time.  I've started out doing the bypass first at HM, then the whole section on the other side of the bridge, and after doing orange and blue and getting back to trailhead I do the normal blue route with all the ups/downs since I'm warmed up by that point.
