My daughter (no pics for pervs) texted at 9:54p that her Delta flight (ATL) which was gaining speed on the runway for takeoff came to a screeching halt because another jet had gotten “in front of them,” so they had to return to the gate to have its “brakes checked for over heating” before they could try again to take off. That’s what they were told at the time, anyway.

She was one of a group of medical students returning from a mission trip to Guatemala. She couldn’t see anything from her seat, but after returning to the gate, they were told that in addition to brake repairs, they had blown multiple tires. They deplaned and we’re told to wait for instructions.

What was this flight #?  Let's see what the data shows...may or may not have been as serious as you think but if they slammed on the brakes it obviously doesn't sound good.

The Ritz in the Cayman Islands is very nice.  I've stayed there, but it's been a while.  The only thing is that the main part of the hotel is behind the part that's in the picture above and across a road.  The above picture shows the residences and the beachfront rooms.  If you're not saying in a beachfront room it's a pretty good walk through the hotel to the beach. this is a map of the hotel facilities

Have been here a few times including this past January. Going again next January.

The oceanfront tower is definitely the way to go. They did a pretty serious renovation during the pandemic which kept things updated, it needed it.

Calypso Grill is a really great waterfront restaurant on the island, maybe a 10 min cab ride from the Ritz.

  3. First time for the race. Not first time in Monaco. A few years back I drove the course on a Tuesday after the race and all the barriers were still up. It was cool

We went two days last year. Helicoptered over from Nice one day and trained the other.

Buy your train ticket in advance at the station if you can…the lines will be really long coming out of Nice but not honestly not too bad. Coming back to Nice after the race, I’d find a place to stay in Monaco for dinner or drinks and take a later train…it’s just madness now they cram people into those trains going back West after the race.

Enjoy every second! It’s such an awesome environment on raceday. All of the yachts will blow their horns after the checkered flag.
