  1. Personally, I am not worried about Mike getting players, and I am extremely hopeful that he will do a great job coaching up the kids he gets. Over the next few years, he will prove that he is worth every penny of that 500K salary. I think we see big improvements this year on the field, and by this time next year we are talking about competing for Big XII championships.

  2. And the sting is worsened by the fact that Patty reached out and got a top flight coach who happens to be an ace recruiter. I live in Florida, trust me, kids love her and Walton will have a hard time replacing her.

Not gonna lie. Pretty underwhelmed by our hire.

    OU gets Rocha...

The part that leaves us all wanting more, is that White said that his phone was literally blowing up with people interested in coaching for Texas, and we end up with a DII guy who was previously on the staff of a really bad SEMO team. I hope this team hits, early and often, or this guy will get skewered.

  4. the new hire is listed on the Texas softball twitter page. Kerry Shaw...from some place called the University of Mary....Uninspiring to say the least.

and on the same day that OU makes a HUGE hire in Jen Rocha. She will be a problem for Texas, as she is a great pitching coach, and outstanding recruiter.

Some rumblings that Florida's pitching coach Rocha is "going home" to Norman.  While I see the going back to your alma mater appeal, I don't think Florida would be unwilling to match, considering they ponied up to keep Walton.  Rocha is probably heir apparent at Florida if/when Walton retires.  It's pretty clear that Patty is going to hand the program over to her son JT when all is said and done.

Though good news for OU, CAN WE HIRE A HITTING COACH? Hopefully this means White is doing his due diligence and vetting candidates. I'm sure he has a decent list from his initial assessment of replacing Kolatis. Though I'm sure we are competing with Oregon/Lombardi for similar candidates.

I suppose this could certainly happen, but that would be a strange move. Rocha has turned down numerous HC positions, so really weird if she bolts for an assistant spot. Tim Walton will have to dig deep to replace her, and his coaching tree is not overflowing....especially with pitching coaches. A name to watch, if this goes down, is Mandy Schuerman. She is a Gator alum, and former assistant, and is now the HC at Manatee State College.

    He dresses like a slut?

Yep! Mike White will be in the 3b coaching box in a halter top, mini skirt and fuck me pumps. Should make for some interesting viewing

  7. Nick Saban is a dick, of the highest order, but players flock to Bama because he wins. Winning cures most of what ails ya'. If White wins, kids will want to play for Texas. If he loses, then the act will grow tired pretty quickly.

I have always wanted my kids to play for hardnosed coaches, because a little thick skin and toughness goes a long way in the real world.

  8. IMHO, the hitting coach will define Coach White's time here. I feel like the pitching will be in his very capable hands, as will in game decisions, but our hitting must improve and show the ability to make in game adjustments. Hopefully the hire will be announced sooner rather than later, as the National tournaments are all beginning play as we speak.

Lombardi would probably solidify all the Oregon pitchers.  They'd definitely stay to get the chance to work with her.

Our new head coach is also regarded as one of the best pitching coaches in the business. If they love playing for Mike White, I don't think Lombardi makes that much of a difference. Let's hope the difference is that OU pitching is not as strong. That would be a win for us.

  10. Lombardi would be a great pick up for Oregon. Widely regarded as the top assistant in the game, and Patty's longtime coaching partner. Spencer will be nice, but I am more interested in who White brings in for hitting.

  11. Here is some good news, I have seen Sailes pitch, in person, numerous times. She is not OU good...,there is a reason she went to FIU out of HS. Kids dad is a typical daddy baller and wanted his kid on the big stage. People will point to her win over Florida this year, but Walton did not exactly roll out his best 9 for that game.

There is is also a reason I haven’t brought her up as a possibility for Texas. She is no better than what we have.

Huh, Tripp McKay just got hired to replace Pete D'Amour at Kennesaw State.

    Good for him.

Kennesaw has built a nice little program. They have a very nice stadium, and Georgia is full of talent. D'Amour really had them on the right path.

I LOVE listening to the Oregon fans rationalize it. "Oh he left because his reputation was he couldn't win the big one, so Oregon clearly just let him leave.  We will find someone who can win it all!"

Okay, you don't just LET a guy who:

-Made 9 straight super regionals (top 16 finish at a minimum)
-Made 5 WCWS (top 8 finish at a minimum)
-Made 2 semifinals appearances (top 4 finish at a minimum)
-Won 5 Pac 12 titles in 9 seasons (after coming in a dethroning 2 of the best programs in the country, UCLA and Arizona)
-Coached 16 individual All-Americans (for a total of 22 honors, including 10 First team All Americans!)
    -Coached 4 PoY finalists
    -Coached 2 FoY finalists
    -Coached 1 NCAA batting champion
    -Coached 10 NPF draft picks

exactly....For a month on UCS, I read post about how Texas couldn't/wouldn't land a big time coach. They said we would settle for a Mid Major hire. Then, when White's name was mentioned, all the Oregon fans made sure to post that he loved Eugene, the climate was like New Zealand, he would never leave Oregon....Then Texas hires him and now they post "he sucks and we didn't want him anyway."

  14. The fire has always been in his belly, but the way Oregon refused to negotiate with him, has stoked that fire even more. I expect that he now will want to win a NC soon, so he can thumb his nose at the ducks.

  15. I think Lawson is probably choice #1, but she already makes what White was making at Oregon...if they wouldn't pay him, I can't imagine them paying her. They could get Kolaitis on the cheap, probably around 200K.

  16. What about Lisle as the hitting coach? He had great success at South Carolina last year in the SEC. White said he was also interested in bringing his Oregon asst to Texas, but I think she mainly works with defense.

I think the first hire has got to be hitting coach/recruiting coordinator.

Does anyone think that Oregon will circle back around to Jimmy Kolaitis as Head Coach? And, would he leave UAB without ever coaching a game?

The roster is now up as "Preliminary Fall 2018 Roster." I don't think I've ever seen it called "preliminary."

White is going to add as many bodies as he can.

This is why Oregon has been so good.  He can simulate just about every type of pitch for batters.

Most every staff in the country has a coach that can throw live BP. I think maybe he helps them more from the mental side of things...Pitch selection, and pitch recognition.

  18. She would need to get a full release from Alabama and assume that Texas had a similar aid package to offer her. Very unlikely, that a kid who decided not to commit to Mike White in the first place, would suddenly ask Pat Murphy for a release so she could play for Mike White now. And as unlikely as that is, it is even more unlikely that Bama would grant a full release at this point, when they are desperate for pitching as well.
