  1. Without naming names, typically you will see a few upper classmen leave. They are simply not willing to adjust to a new personality and way of doing business. I think White runs the roster size up to 20-24 players by the time the 2019's arrive on campus. Squeezing playing time is the easiest way to gently push kids aside, and larger rosters create a competitive environment. Look at the model that Coach Myers had at Auburn. He inherited a very similar roster to what White is getting. He had a recruit follow him from ASU, and he brought in a couple of transfers. The following year, he took 8-9 kids, and swelled his roster size to somewhere in the mid 20's. He then weeded out the weak, and unwilling, until he had a team of his players. It only took him two years to get that group to OKC, and they were dreadful before his arrival.

In other words, Connie Clark definitely did NOT set a foundation worth a damn. We already knew that, and I feel bad for Mike having to say she did set a foundation in his presser. Probably grinding his teeth while saying it

Oh, Connie laid the foundation for us to win a championship, alright......If she sucked any less, White wouldn't be our coach. That's the only foundation she laid.

Mike White will begin reaching out to all 2019's today. My guess is that he will take a very large class next year...and will weed out some of the current players. The next 12 months will piss off a lot of parents, but are necessary to move this program forward. The great news is, White will recruit all over the nation, and Texas is a nationally known brand.

  3. Good news is, that there are several decent bats still available on the transfer scene.

Whomever asked about Montana Fouts....that is not going to happen. She is a 2018 grad, so she has already signed her LOI and financial agreement paperwork with Alabama. The only way she ends up here, is if she is willing to sit the entire season and start next year.

So what role does Plonsky still play............only saw her mentioned once (thanked by White).

She is taking care of his travel arrangements and getting his room at the extended stay booked.

  5. Wow...While us schmucks were here doubting CDC, he had his guy all along. White needs to go out and get the two best defensive and hitting coaches in the country and wreck shop in the Big XII....Totally stoked over this news.

That's what I'm saying. It really stinks for them.

I think we won't see many transfers because it's going to be too late. They'll stick it out and decide next year.

Which is a good thing for us...We have gone from hoping for a quick strike hire, so we could get transfers to it now possibly being too late for our kids to transfer. That is how long this whole stupid thing has drawn out. F the previous administration for their handling of this athletic program. They sat back, and padded their pockets, while our teams and our facilities went to shit. Now they are having trouble finding willing coaches for this team.

  7. Transferring will be difficult at this junction....They would have to wait for the new coach, meet with him and ask for a release, and then attempt to find another school with scholarship monies available.

  8. Does anyone else think that maybe CDC has swung and missed at several candidates, at this point? I think the timeline and chain of events suggest that Walton was definitely offer #1...Are we now to believe that we may have been turned down by multiple others for this job?

That did kind of come off asshole.

I know recruiting is gross. But there's a different level of grossness when you're hosting transfers who want to come for a year to play under you and you're looking to bolt to a better job.

It's not less gross than fucking 8th graders committing.  That's just dumb.  Those parents should be slapped.

Coaches and parents should be ashamed for committing that early. Florida has three 11 yr olds verballed already

  10. I agree it is "Gross", but I also know that it happens. It is important for all PSAs to ask the difficult questions during any visits. Doesn't mean the coach will be honest, but at least you will know what you are committing to.

Although it rarely happens, kids need to make their decisions based on the school and not the coach.

  11. J,

Remember that these coaches work for their current schools, until the moment they don't. They have to continue to recruit, up until the moment that they agree to take another job. Too much is made of.."it can't be so and so, because he was out recruiting in his current school colors this weekend." Coaches have to continue to make evaluations and connections, regardless of which school they work for. Hopefully, this will all be over today, and we can relax this weekend. :)

  12. Mike will have to hire a couple of dynamic assistants. The best players on his team weren't recruited directly by Mike White. all of those states you mentioned were in Jimmy Kolaitis' recruiting area. However, Mike White is a GREAT pitching coach. His teams always have really good pitching, and display great fundamentals. This is exciting news, if true.

  13. Ken Eriksen may coach pitching, but that is not his preference. He had Mo Triner as his pitching coach for years at USF. He prefers to work with the hitters, which he is equally inept at. I believe that Gasso will takeover Team USA after this summer as well, but as you stated, it won't matter, as Eriksen is not a great recruiter anyways. He gets the majority of his kids at USF on academic money and Florida prepaid tuition. When he recruited my kid, the first question he asked was did we have Florida Prepaid (which we didn't, as we only moved here 7 years ago). To get elite kids, you must have a keen eye for talent, and great relationship with the elite travel programs, and money to offer.
