I cannot wait to be in the SEC.  No more ESPN+ for the conference tournament day 1-3.  SEC Network is top-notch production, including having Scarborough, Mendoza, Mowins and Smith doing pbp and color.

Pete Souza and Natasha Watley are doing the Big 12 tournament games on ESPN+, which Eric Frede and Madi Shipman doing the champ game on ESPN2.  Madi Shipman and Natasha Watley are fine, but we couldn't get a couple of former Big 12 players (Cat? Erin Miller??) to do our conference game color commentary instead of a former SEC player and a former Pac 12 player?

I'd say Cat and Erin Miller are probably 100x more knowledgeable on Big 12 programs than Shipman and Watley.

To this day, Natasha Watley is the best women's softball player I have ever seen. Go search her highlights on youtube and prepare to be amazed at how fast she played the game.

It's not just pitching - Steve Singleton deserves a huge raise; someone is going to try to steal him.

This X 1000...This is the first Longhorn team in my lifetime that I have seen make in bat adjustments. Players seem to go to the plate with a plan and be able to execute the plan accordingly. Being able to make those adjustments is what made OU so good for so long. You could get them once or twice, but they were ready for you the next AB. Singleton is going to kill it at some point as a HC.

  3. Scott, Henry and Maloney would be the fastest outfield in the NCAA next year. I also suspect we may lose a couple of the girls to the portal who hope to find more playing time.

Agree.  I have no idea what her defense is like, but she has shown flashes with the bat.  I think 3rd is her primary position. I'm not sure she is fast enough to play OF (she looks thicc), but who knows.

Mia's flexibility and improvement on defense is a real asset to her and the team.  She could easily slide back to the OF if needed or stay at 3rd.

She looks like Xavier Worthy in the face, but I don't think she runs like him. LOL

Don’t forget OU graduates 10 seniors this year. Texas should be one of the best in the SEC next year, along with UF (underclass heavy team as well)

UF will be good with the return of Rothrock, but Walton is a dick and will undoubtedly find some way to screw up the team chemistry. They also lose Skylar Wallace which is a big hit in the middle of the infield and batting order.

I don't have any of the 2025 recruits on my radar - hell, I forgot we had more than Cambria incoming for 2024 because it is a tiny class.  Considering we are only graduating 4 seniors and returning so much production (top 3 starting pitchers + returning starters at 6/8 defensive positions) and one of those seniors (Washington) is just going to be replaced by last year's starting 2B (Goode).

It is a good problem to have when Texas is only looking to replace its lefty bullpen specialist and LF.

Pitchers: Kavan, Gutierrez, Morgan, Salmon, Simpson (maybe)
    Catcher: Atwood, Stewie
    1B: Stewie, KC, Joley
    2B: Goode
    SS: Vivi
    3B: Scott, Joley
    LF: ??
    CF: Henry
    RF: Maloney

My guess would be Wallace gets first crack at LF if we don't go portal hunting for a third OF or move Scott to RF and put Joley at 3B.  Scott's defense has really improved substantially the latter half of this season.

I think White has to find a way to get Hunter into next seasons line up. Her bat is going to be a big part of protecting Stewart and Atwood next season. Team should still be really fast, and Hunter will provide some added pop.

We already carry a large pitching staff (5 pitchers) with 4 getting most of the work. So you’re not wrong, if we get a lefty specialist, Mac could transfer. TK, Gutierrez, Cambria is a hell of a top 3 staff

Also have Hannah Wells coming soon and she will be a force at the plate, and in the circle. Coach White is starting to get it rolling on the recruiting trail at a level we haven’t seen here in a while.

Radar shows t'storms on outskirts of Norman between 12:30 - 2PM.    Heavy rain overnight but hopefully will clear for 3PM game.   Lubbock looks good for Sat.

@Js1  @FloridaHorn      Any thoughts on why Kenny G elected to start Aycock in game 1 and then Kilfoyl ?    Plans to pitch both all 3 games ?

I honestly think Kenny was saving Kilfoyl for today and willing to take a few lumps yesterday. OU let it get away and now Kenny holds all the cards for today. I’m sure Patty will throw Nicole May, and if the Pokes can lay off her change they have a great chance to go up 2-0 in the series.

Pro-tip: If you're going to call someone out then provide examples of why what I said is wrong. Nobody has done that so far..

The examples you are looking for are literally scattered throughout multiple post on this site. It's ok to be wrong, just accept it and try harder next time.

Perhaps lost in the leaving early nonsense was Stewie breaking out of her slump.  She had two monster hits.

If we could just get Atwood out of her slump.  She's whiffing on fastballs right over the plate.

I'm hopeful a few of the bats waking up just a bit will give us the mojo we need for everyone to start hitting.

Was nice to see Stewart hit a few balls hard. Atwood’s issue is the same issue many of the girls are having….they are trying to pull every pitch.

    what a game!!

Reviews are killing softball though.  It's such a beating they have to change.

What is needed is umpires that don’t blow 4-6 calls every game. IMHO, reviews would go down if the overturn rate went down. If I was a coach, I would challenge something every time the opposing team scored a big run.
