The worst thing about winter is that dotard is stuck indoors and spends all the tweeting stupid shit. At last when it's warm he's out golfing. C'mon spring.

You do realize that it is currently 76 degrees at his Mar-a-Lago course in Palm Beach, Fl?

Trump is a Russian asset who is using border security as a fucking distraction, and so is the troll onboard. But it isn't working.

Your avatar is a distraction.  And it is working.

My son is in the army and two of his drill instructors -- the ones he admired most, or as much as any soldier can admire a drill sergeant -- were Mexican nationals who earned their citizenship through serving in Afghanistan, in combat. My son was a mess when he entered the army and now is the kind of kid who brags about his fucking credit score. I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to soldiers like Rodriguez and Sanchez. Fuck the wall.

    ........

I didn't serve, but I still believe that all men should serve 2 years right out of high school.  It would solve a ton of problems and who cares if you start college/work/etc at 20 instead of 18. Did Sgt Rodriguez and Sgt Sanchez come into the country legally or illegally?  If legally, then the wall/border issue doesn't apply to them specifically  unless someone wants to lump illegal immigrants in with those who followed the current legal process.  If they came in illegally, then maybe the idea of military service could be a more talked about  option for a path to citizenship.

It is a shame we don't take this border wall fight to the logical conclusion of total immigration reform with liberal work visas and an easier path to citizenship for those who are eligible.

I still cannot believe that SJL was ever considered an appropriate method of representation.

I've told this story here (TOS) before, but several years ago I wrote my congressman to ask for a formal inquiry into how she was able to get a law degree from UVA.  I explained to him that I had a daughter at UVA and how the reputation of the school and it's academic excellence was tainted with someone as obviously dull as SJL touting her education there.  One of his staffers replied back with a form letter about working with people from both sides of the aisle.

tl/dr:  SJL is a horrible human being and also, in no way has the brain cells to matriculate thru one of the top public law schools in the country.

Harris today answering questions about a presidential run.  This is a very strong showing, imo.  Energized, easy on the ears, honorably adheres to rule of law, clearly highly intelligent and able to simplify complex issues into understandable priorities.  And perhaps most significantly, she's moderate.

Isn't Harris considered the most progressive senator out of all of them?  See this link from a liberal/progressive site.

Or was your comment sarcasm that went over my head?

  6. Package from Europe came in today.  It was a Nomos Tangente 38 Datum.  It maintains my German fetish and it is quite a contrast from my two Sinns.  I wear my Sinn 104 as a daily work watch and got the 6099 as a formal/event/picking up bitches watch, but this Nomos can be worn for both.   We will see how it fits in and how much I wear it.  Unless senility sets in and I get my dream of a rose gold Lange & Sohne, I think that I am satiated with these to rotate thru.

This is my basic view of the situation too.  I think there is definitely pain to come, but I don't know what the safe havens will be.  Land?  Food?  Ammo?

I would think that the safe (ish) haven will be minimal-to-no debt so that you don't have to worry about servicing it.  It is interesting to read the guesses on inflation vs deflation if things seize up.  I would think the logical thing would be a mixture (I've heard it called biflation but there might be a better term) where things that are typically bought with debt will drop in price, whereas other things like consumables, etc., will rise.

The dollar's reserve currency status makes for a whole world of opportunities, in terms of money supply manageent choices, that would not be tolerated for a "normal" currency.  The music will surely stop as the day approaches when competitive reserve currencies emerge, which will surely then mean usurping reserve currencies.  Then the US population (all dollar holders) will be in for some rude awakening.

This type of future risk has been talked a about for a long time, but the competitive currencies have been slow to emerge.  The RMB looks to now be the sure pack leader.

What should a person with a multi decade investement perspective do?

Not enough people understand how important us being the reserve currency is to our current economy and our debt laden government.  I have often felt that none of the social issues or current banshee screaming issue driven loons will bring us to our knees, but rather a combination of:  1)us not being the reserve currency (watch as oil trades in other currencies/barter), 2) our total public and private debt and the interest paid, and then 3) the pension/SS and health care promises.  These three will eventually take us down (or might be in the process of right now).  What is the  saying...A fiat currency works until it doesn't.  And also remember, that all fiat currencies thru history have eventually failed.

PS;  Sometimes, if you sit and think about it, how exactly does one get away with charging interest on a fiat currency?  With a system of fractional reserve banking/a central bank, and a fiat currency, and with a high debt driven economy, it's almost like all a bank charter is now is a license to print money.

If that is a work day, I am calling in sick and listening to records whilst smoking weed and drinking whiskey.

The whole country should do this.  If I'm president, i'm declaring a national day off for such mourning.  It will bring the whole country together.

PS: I don't think I will or did lose my shit over famous people that I enjoyed/admired dying, but admit I was a bit melancholy when Gene Kelly died.  He brought me a lot of enjoyment.

So you think Dabo won't want the challenge right away and would rather be the guy who replaces the legend? Because Dabo will be the first call.  Come home and all that.

I've been saying it will be Dabo for years now, but he has built such a program at Clemson, I'm not so sure now.  He may turn out to be the "Roy Williams" (remember he didn't replace Dean), and have to come save the program if the in-house replacement fails.

Why not both. I think he is a great hire at WVU and will likely leave to SEC if they come calling with money bags.

We were paying Dana $3.8 MM/yr, so unless it is stupid money or a blueblood program, we have the resources and willingness (thank you Big12 $$$) to pay to keep someone we want.
