  1. I had a Native Texan side-by-side with Brazos Valley's Pilsner, which I think they call Two Step, and thin was exactly the description that came to mind. BVB's was pretty good. It's not quite in Live Oak's league but it was pretty good.
  2. I was out there on Saturday. Yeah, the traffic is a real beating right now but it's not like that's a stellar location even in the best of times. The set up is decent once you get there though. I hope they're not dependent on tap room sales to stay in business because I really, really like this brewery. My current Austin favorite, actually. Yes, that brisket was damned good. I don't know if I got the wagyu or not - was there an option? Whatever I had was fantastic. The bartender talked me into a splash of strawberry syrup in the sour wheat sampler I had. He said it came out a bit on the sour side. After that I got a full pint straight up and while it does smack you in the face, I didn't think it was too sour. Apparently they also made a sour Shamus but didn't keep any kegs at the brewery. I think he said Which Craft had some. Little Navigator and the Astronaut are still the leaders in the clubhouse, though. I cussed myself all the way home for forgetting to bring the growler.
  3. I got a six pack each of Pancho and Lefty last week. They weren't on sale, I guess because they're the "B Side" or whatever. All the federales say Lefty was OK, but Pancho laid Lefty low this day. Brazos Valley is a nice little brewery.
  4. Spoilering a question about Evil Genius for those that watched it.
  5. Same here. When I saw what it was about I went "Wait - they solved that? How did I not know that?". All I remember was seeing that poor guy sitting there with the bomb collar on and the police were (understandably) not able to do anything about it.
  6. I celebrate their entire catalog of NEIPA's.
  7. Hi Sign might be the best brewery in Austin right now.
  8. I was in the Pflugerville area this evening and decided to give Flying Man a shot. I really wanted to like this place but the beers just weren't... good. The watermelon wheat was decent if you like that sort of thing and the chipotle stout didn't suck, but everything else I tried did. Which was too bad because they have a pretty nice set up in spite of the pita location.
  9. Yeah. This is really, really good. Zilker outkicked their coverage on this one.
  10. I went there maybe 3 or 4 years ago. I don't remember anything particularly notable about the beer one way or the other but you are correct, the food was outstanding.
  11. I was looking forward to this all day yesterday but ongoing in-law drama had me in a pretty sour mood by the time I got home, and I didn't want that to spoil my first impression. Maybe tonight. Switching gears, I noticed that 4th Tap has some new stuff out with redesigned cans. They're kind of water-colory drawings along the lines of Prairie Artisan, Dogfish Head and many others except not as distinctive. Is this a permanent thing or just for some special releases? I thought their original branding was fairly decent; at least it was clean and stood out on the shelves. This new stuff seems muddled even for an individual can, and it all runs together with a bunch of other similar themed designs on the shelf. I dunno, marketing's not my thing at all.
  12. I haven't seen Cave Creek Chili beer here in a while.
  13. Thanks. I stopped by HEB Far West at lunch and they had them so I got two six packs. They wouldn't scan at the register and the clerk asked me if I knew how much they were. I told him "I think they're $12.49 each". He kind of hesitated and said "you sure? that seems high". He offered to have somebody go check but I stood firm. csb They also had the Brazos Valley Pilsner on sale for $7.77.
  14. Where was that? Sunrise Mini-Mart had some today but they had a 2 CAN limit.
  15. I remember it having a pinkish tone but not as dark as it looks in that picture. But I didn't drink much of the raspberry back then and when I did it was likely from the bottle. I haven't had one of the revivals yet.
  16. I don't get grapefruit either, more of an orangy/pineapple, but definitely more sweet than bitter. These juicy style IPAs have officially won me over; I almost have to force myself to order anything else these days. Agree about the YR consistency issues mentioned by others. I've had a couple of bottles that were decent but not mind blowing. I've had a couple of others that I could be convinced were the GOAT. Brazos Valley High Noon at BB Rovers. Not as good as Willin' or Lost Highway but still pretty good. Would have been better if it'd been a couple or three degrees cooler. This seems to be a recurring problem at Rovers.
  17. For CR: Rotunda (or Capitol Rotunda). House Chambers/Senate Chambers. The Dais. Soapbox. Two Minutes Hate.
  18. Scholz's or Chili Parlor would work for either Cloak Room or GM Steakhouse. Both Parties Suck for Cloak Room. Or if you want to more accurately reflect the predominant view of our posters, Both Parties Suck But I Will Only Demand the GOP Change Its Ways. If we can't use GM Steakhouse again, how about Mad Dog & Beans?
  19. Wasn't there one near GM Steakhouse? Mr. Peepers, or something like that?
  20. Hi, how are you? Club Foot Raul's Cosmic Cowboy none of which beat Armadillo World Headquarters or Austin City Limits.
