  1. Well, I said I'd need something to push me into going beyond Sturgill & Caamp.  I'm not sure Stapleton and Norah get it done for me.  I've never seen any of the four, so maybe, depending on how they're spread out over the weekend(s).

  2. I watched Emergency religiously when I was a kid.

Any trauma could be treated using an IV with Ringer's lactate or D5W.  The important thing was to stabilize and transport to Rampart, stat!

  3. I dunno, Mexican Teles are a dime a dozen.  Peavey T60s are cool and much more rare (and in general I'm not a fan of Peavey, even though my old Delta Blues amp rocked).

Idk I’m not saying you are a dumbass. I actually get not really wanting a girl you didn’t really dig to spend $3k on you.

My question was more was she really going to spend that? And do you still have her number?

Oh, she was totally ready to spend that.  (She was a direct descendant of Ed Bluestein, I don't think money was ever an issue for her, although she did work for a living.)

Can Trump still take an oath to "preserve, protect, and defend" the Constitution?  Cuz on Jan. 6, I don't think he was doing that.

He had his fingers crossed, doesn't count.

ACC was a better experience and one of the best professors I had in my entire 5 1/2-year college career was a great ACC professor.

Yeah, I saw that at UT during my time in grad school.  My two favorite profs were on opposite ends of the spectrum.  One was an absolute genius who couldn't really teach but who inspired you to figure out what the hell he was talking about, and the other was a slightly above average intellect who actually gave a shit and worked hard to connect you to the material.  Two means to the same end.

I have to think for music Bowie (our kids) helps too given the intensity and quality of the marching band program.

At the time, McCallum suffered a bit in terms of marching band.  The teachers were more into jazz and symphonic music.  The percussion ensemble my daughter played in was off the charts good, they played at the Midwest Clinic and got rave reviews from all the profs at schools like UNT, Juilliard, and Berklee.

Has anyone been to Trattoria Lisina out towards driftwood?

Several times.  Don't expect Michelin star level Italian food, but it's good enough, and the drive and setting are awesome.  Worthy of a date night for sure.

When my daughter went to UTSA in 2021, they required summer classes as well.  Due to covid, the classes were online, though.

I'm pretty sure all CAP programs require 6/9/15 as the summer/fall/spring course load.

  10. My kids went to McCallum.  I'm very fond of that school.  It's far more well-rounded than the West______ options.  It's not an IB campus, so that might be a drawback, but I was super impressed with the inclusiveness.  Basically, McCallum kids aren't assholes and they are plenty well educated.

Yeah, so its interesting but my oldest wants to go into Art or Music.  I have my opinions on this but it is what it is.  Anyway, I suspect trying to get in via those programs is drastically less competitive than trying to get into McCombs.

Definitely.  My daughter wanted to major in Psych (and is) but the percussion prof offered her a spot straight out of HS with the goal of her transferring into Psych.  Obviously it helped that she was a top-of-state level percussionist, but it was still a path he was familiar with and was willing to exploit.

I still think she should minor in music, but she's chosen French.  Dammit.

  12. My least favorite guitar show moment:  I was dating a gal but had met a gal who would become my (starter) wife.  I'm not the kind to cheat, I hadn't strayed any farther than Jimmy Carter did.  So my then-girlfriend and I went to a guitar show at the Austin Convention Center, and I fell in love with a mid-70s Fender Strat.  I mean, I was drooling.  We moved along, and separated for a bit for bathroom/drink break, and when we were ready to leave, she says "just a minute, I have something for you".  She had arranged to buy that Strat for me.  I was apoplectic, I was literally going to (and did) break up with her that night.  I managed to push back enough on such a generous gift -- like mid-$3K range -- and we got out of there.  I did the deed a few hours later.

    I'm a dumbass.

50% is high. It's been awhile since I looked at the averages, but I think net evap is on the order of 30-40 in/yr. But you're correct, ASR has the potential to cut those losses dramatically. That said, one of the technical challenges to ASR is protecting your stored water bubble. If the groundwater gradients are too steep (relatively high lateral movement), this can cause a portion of the stored water to move beyond the capture radius of the well, and that water is essentially 'lost'. On the most recent asr Class V injection well authorization I worked on, losses do to groundwater movement came in around 25%.

Damn.  Check out the big brain on Brad.

Other artists he had at his house:  Kim Richey, Walt Wilkens, Sam Baker, Bob Livingston, Gretchen Peters, Jason Eady, Courtney Patton among others.

My brother-in-law is friends with Walt, as they went to Anderson HS (Austin) together.  He took me to a show at a church on the north edge of campus a few years back.  I knew absolutely nothing about Walt.  Holy smokes, that guy is the real deal.  Gifted and humble.
