Well, I seem to recall the consensus of the preseason polls/predictions I read had Washington winning the PAC-12. Since then I recall USC, Oregon, Stanford, Colorado and Washington State being talked up as being the new leaders of the conference at differing points of the season. Turns out they were right initially.
-
You know PAC-12, I tune in excited to watch you each week,I talk up your league and After Dark games, I argue you have a fun style of play similar to The Big 12, I defend you against the naysayers and yet...you are not giving me much of anything to work with here tonight. Also, great tarps!

Dallas beer nerds: get your ass to Celestial Beerworks. Opened roughly a month ago and I understand is the former brewer at Malai Kitchen (which if you never went is a Thai/Vietnamese restaurant in the West Village that happened to brew their own shockingly good NE IPAs among other beers in house).
Stopped by this afternoon after work to check it out. It’s located very close to Parkland and all of the development around there which I realize I would otherwise never have a reason to go by. I did 2 different samplers of 3 beers each (went all IPA...no big surprise) and all were crazy good.
I read a review that summed it up perfectly: if you live in Dallas and love Turning Point in Bedford (I most certainly do) but don’t want to drive that far, this is your place. One of the reasons I don’t mind driving out to Bedford to go to Turning Point from time to time is that, beyond tasting there great beers out there, you can also take home their weekly new canned beers. Celestial is still currently lacking in this department but the bartender told me they will be canning soon (12 ouncers based on their canning line).
Highly recommended from this insufferable beer nerd.
However, they do offer 32 oz crowlers so mdmost and I are set for our Big 12 Championship game watching thirst quenchers...

There's also
a) it's undriveable - the cost of the flight is on top of the tickets
b) The "bigger" team underachieved this year
c) the other team might have the smallest fanbase in the conference
Was just listening to one of my CFB podcasts yesterday (think it was Solid Verbal) and they were lamenting the location and rush hour time slot and also noting that it’s something like 700 and 800 miles from each of the respective schools playing in it. Not at all surprised at such low ticket sales. Also doesn’t help that there’s no chance of playoffs for the winner.
I believe this is also where the championship game will be played and seem to recall they were previously complaining about that and how it’s in a bad location to get to. -
Tupps, imo.
Gagree. Now I use to pass right over their old stuff but, since their introduction of the DDH IPA series, Day of the Dead, and now Juice Pack, I’m always on the lookout for their new stuff. -
The beer after you mow the yard = best beer of the week.

To be equitable, let's just do the Oklahoma hand gesture downwards to them and see what happens.
Let’s not...-

I agree. If Georgia beats Bama, I guarantee they'll jump to at least No. 3.
Yes in that scenario the thinking would be they would rig the rankings so we are not watching an immediate rematch between Bama and Georgia. -
So what’s crazy about all of this is...if we happen to lose to OU, what do we want?
I NEVER want OU to advance to the playoffs. HOWEVER, my Horns playing in the Sugar Bowl sounds pretty fucking badass right about now.
But I can’t have both... -
Here’s another variant that I’ve wondered about:
-
I find it hard to believe Ohio St would leapfrog ousux if both teams won. I think the only way we don't make the Sugar Bowl is if UGA beats Bama.
If UGA beats Bama, I’ve heard the talking heads speculate that both of them would be in, along with Clemson (assuming they win) plus ND...so this all makes for some interesting “rooting” (or not) from us Horns on Saturday if we happen to lose. -
I think the conference, as is not uncommon, took the stupid position. Who gives a shit if our rivals talk shit to us...whether verbally (speaking of, it’s 10:19 and OU still sucks) or otherwise (lazy reverse hand signs). Just win or shut the fuck up from either side.
-
Dumb for a variety of reasons. I am also firmly in the camp that Texas and OU should play once and only once each season...in the Cotton Bowl in October. This cheapens the importance of that one big game.

A Double Stuf Oreo stout aged in bourbon barrels? You so crazy, Prairie...
This is crazy smooth and dangerously drinkable for 14%.-

I don’t normally get worked up at all about the talking head’s agendas but I find Herbie’s argument that Georgia should move up to not just four but THREE to be laughable and laughably transparent. Of course, if they’re three as opposed to four, they don’t have to turn right back around and play Bama...again.
