ROFL BOX could use your prayers
Baboontyme replied to Bob Lives!'s topic in Can You Help Me With This?
Hang in there ROFLBOX. We are all behind you. -
Why, I dare ask. The regular roast beef sandwich plain seems like one of the healthier options out there from big fast food, from a calorie and protein/carb ratio standpoint.

I like Indy. It's been a few years since I stayed downtown but there's a JW that is beautiful and the Conrad is also nice. Noodle is fun. And yeah, St. Elmo's.

Saw this earlier today. Tomorrow (8/8) will mark two years since the fires. I still have somewhat of a hard time dealing with this, having watched it all unfold from up on the hill. I can't imagine what it would feel like to have been in the impact zone that day and/or to have had to deal with the aftermath over the past couple of years. Prayers up to Lahaina town. If you visit, please be respectful, don't book short term rentals from those who aren't local, and support local businesses. https://www.hawaiimagazine.com/lahaina-two-years-after-wildfires/

I bought the book a few years ago and have incorporated many of the KOT exercises into my routines. At one point a couple of years ago I was pretty excited about the mobility progress I was making, but honestly in retrospect I think a lot of it was just weight coming off and being in a level of shape that I hadn't been in 20+ years. I still do a lot of the exercises regularly but it is definitely not some kind of miracle routine/cure. Anatomy is anatomy and there are just some things my knees can't handle, with or without the KOT movements. Not because of the program, but just because of anatomy and general wear and tear my knees have gotten worse and I can't do a lot of the stuff I could two years ago. I had to have a scope done on the left one a few months ago and to be honest I have more pain in general in the right kneecap than I do in the one that has been cut on (twice). Still trying to get that mobility back, but I'm back to squatting with a box or bench behind me and a full sit before I stand up with the weight. Hopefully as I build more strength I can get back to a full depth squat without the crutch. TL;DR the KOT stuff, imo, is mostly engagement farming but I do believe many of exercises have merit. It's just not a miracle cure. I deleted IG but check out Jeffrey Wolf. He is a guy who I think was involved with Ben and KOT and came to the realization that it was a marketing gimmick. He preaches a lot of science-based movement from what I recall.

Be careful with that thing fellas. Even on low the pressure is solid enough to cause some over spray splashing if you don't get the positioning right. I'd highly recommend practicing with it a few times at home before you are ready to take the show on the road. I'm also not comfortable reassembling it and storing it for next usage without a little rinse or through pat down with a wipe. Who knows what really goes on under there.

This thing is a game changer for travel away from the home base bidet. I was on vacation with the family in Mexico for 8 days and I didn't even come home with vacabidet irritated butthole from tp use. Highly recommend.

Interesting wood. I did not see anyone matching that profile or description. Everyone we encountered on Hidalgo was doing the friendly hard sell and taking the rejections in good spirits. It was hilarious watching some of them go up to my 15 yo and ask "Hey you want weed bro? You look like Yawn Cena! Hey bro! Yawn Cena! Rambo!" 😂

I think get it fixed. Stay active. I worry that the minute I succumb to an injury and just let it go is the minute I turn into a lazy old blob. At a minimum the rehab will be a good challenge in your life to take on. Keep us posted. I've potentially got shoulder surgery in my future, so I'm subscribed.

Nice troll. Almost worked.

Stupid and fun. Bad revivals of old gags, but some good ones as well, and a few new good ones. If you were in college in the mid to late 90s, it was well worth the two hours.

Genuinely curious where this is coming from. I think it's a pretty great little gem. I'm not sure I could live there, either.
-
Uh, no it absolutely is not.

It's a weird one. Traverse City is an outlier in Northern Michigan. It's a resort town, probably one of the most picture-esque and desirable places to be in summertime in the State. The town and the immediate surrounding areas are progressive. Mayor Pete lives there. It is surrounded by poverty, hillbilly country with, um, polar opposite demographics and politics. Actually Walmart is kind of out of place for TC. Hope this dude just lost his mind and this wasn't ideological based.

Private cenote tour was one of the coolest things I've ever done. 6 stars.
-
We are doing ruins and cenotes until we fly back home on Monday. I don't have an agenda yet, plan on figuring it out tomorrow. I think I want to hit Azul and Dos Ojos but I'd be up for meeting if you were able to meet at/near a cenote or some ruins. I have zero idea what ruins to hit up.

We are really enjoying it here. I love it. Crazy how you can go from the ridiculousness and character of Hidalgo and stray dogs and cats to a beautiful quiet resort hotel on a world class beach within a few steps. I also love the vibrancy and character of the central and southern part of the island. Off to Puerto Aventuras tomorrow. Some food/restaurant thoughts and pics. First, agree with whoever said it that it isn't necessarily cheap here. Paid in pesos but my family of four I don't think had a meal for less than $130 or so. Now I'm not complaining but not all that different from anywhere else, be it home or on vacation. Yeah that usually included a marg or two for me and sometimes a frozen drink for the kids. Also it seems to be a thing here that they don't bring you your bill until you ask for it, even if you're clearly done, have declined dessert and your table is clean. Lesson learned. I don't want to be the pushy American so it made for some awkward moments. The best thing I tasted this week honestly was the house bread at Rolandi's. It was this giant puff of hot soft bread drizzled with olive oil and salt. It was gone in about 20 seconds. Pizza was ok. I ordered the pizza and my son ordered the grilled chicken and we agreed to share. I had two pieces of pizza and he had the rest of both dishes. Welcome to feeding a 15 year old. We hit up Taco Tuesday at Xantolo. Taco lunch for 200 pesos with a free marg/virgin daiquiri. Wife and daughter had the Arrachera tacos, son had ribeye tacos and I had al pastor. Very good! Basto's was good but I like my Arrachera and my daughter liked her burger more than my son enjoyed his ribeye (very thin and a ton of non edible fat). My wife ordered sopa even though she's never had it before and it was meh. Loved our server even though he missed half of our drinks and didn't bring the bill for like 25 minutes after we were done. You guys were nails on that seasoning they put in the Arrachera. So damn good. Last night for dinner we hit the taco trucks and brought them back to order drinks and eat poolside at Ixchel. That was a lot of fun and cheap and delicious. Not a ton of taco trucks where I live unless you're in SW Detroit and I'm not often. Today we went golf carting again to the Southern part of the island to catch some things we missed on Tuesday when we went to Punta Sur. I was trying to please everyone and deciding between Mango's, Yayo and Oscar's and I...chose poorly. Oscar's had pizza, pasta and Mexican and my daughter isn't much for Mexican. We got there, sat down, ordered drinks, and the guy was like no pizza, no pasta, only grill. He was probably the only person we encountered all week who wasn't very friendly. Anyway the boy and I ordered Arrachera steaks and they were cooked to the texture of an old leather boot. Still not horrible but trying to cut that thing with a butter knife was a good forearm workout. Daughter got nachos that she liked and my wife tried to order a burger with fries but somehow they only understood the fries part. She's a Midwest people pleaser and refused to try to correct the issue and had fries for lunch. Margs were strong, though. 3/10 do not recommend. Tonight we had the best meal of the stay. I think I would definitely recommend this place to the surly Isla mafia. Maybe kind of new and slightly bougie as far as bougie can be on the Isla. Rusticco. 4.9* on Google and the pics looked too nice for us. A true foodie place and we aren't foodies. But they had something for everyone and it was on point. Pregame I had the pineapple marg with charred rosemary. We ordered an app of shrimp tempura with bam bam sauce that was delicious. Wife and daughter split some pasta Bolognese with vodka sauce that they loved and a chicken Caesar. Son got an amazing looking Arrachera steak, medium rare. He said as good as it was the carrots were even better. I had lobster tacos and they were dynamite. Pics below. Slammed and went hard. Some other random pics and a video of Hidalgo at night for posterity. Thanks for turning me on to this awesome place surly. What an amazing four days and unlike anyplace we have ever been. We are running out of family trips before the boy graduates, but I will be back at some point. PXL_20250724_012652665.mp4 PXL_20250722_164115262.mp4

I looked at the menu at Javi's when we were looking for a place the first night and passed. Not a lot of options for my daughter. There is definitely sargassum up and down Norte. It's not out of control and you can swim around it depending on where it settles day to day but it's there. If you go further North towards Mia there's even more.

I left my wife for 10 minutes today to go find Jorge (pedicab guy) near the ferry terminal and this was the result. Didn't ask a price of course and realized later they charged her $60 US. She is absolutely the person that takes the American flag on the toothpick and strikes up conversations with the people handing them out every time we are in downtown Detroit or Chicago. No CR. Ate at Basto's tonight. Had the Arrachera and it was delicious. Punta Sur was well worth the trip. Gorgeous.

We are here. It is indeed beautiful and interesting and fun. Carm transfers were great. Got a pedicab guy to bring our bags over after I exchanged cash for pesos and I fucked up the exchange in my head. I thought I was giving him about $20 US, turns out I gave him about $6. Going to see if I can find him tomorrow. It's going to be a challenge finding places my daughter will eat but I'm going to insist we try Basto's. Anyone have a line on a decent gym on the island? The hotel gym is very hotel gym-y in a bad way.

This must be a newish model. I saw it reviewed on a site as the most powerful pocket bidet on the market. Obviously I ordered it. Can confirm. Much stronger than the battery powered Brondell and Toto that I bought a couple of years ago. Also the bottle design is pretty neat and holds a shit ton more water, even without expanding it. Definitely going to be my new travel companion. https://a.co/d/9NoZnhF

Hmm. I don't know if I like Shane or not. Sometimes I find him funny but sometimes I want him to be way more funny than he is. Sorry Derks. I get playing a character and I definitely get understanding a guy on podcasts that you don't get to see on stage. My disclaimer is that my favorite comedian is Anthony Jeselnik and it isn't close, and that's backed by listening to 4-5 years of the JRVP podcast. It hits you or it doesn't. Also, for posterity, you can't prove an opinion. Sometimes you just gotta roll with the fact that other people don't share yours. 🤷♂️

No one wants to swim with whale sharks. It's not that anyone is scared of them, we are not snorkel people and no one feels the need to touch or get that close to a sea creature. I would like to see them, though, and without having to spend 6 hours on a tour. Are there other options?

This was a really good derby. I love the Derby for some reason. I watched the ESPN2 broadcast and it was so much fucking better. The camera angle from behind the mound on the main broadcast? We don't care.

Super helpful posts, thank you both. @Wally Pryor 4 nights on the island on PN at Ixchel. I was thinking we wouldn't need a golf cart. You disagree? Those golf cart adventures sound like fun and I know my son would love to see that church, he thinks shit like that is super cool. Also, family of 4, boy 15, girl 12. Is a beach club something I should be looking at? It seems kind of young adultish but maybe I just don't fully grasp the concept. I thought we would have our fair share of pool and beach at Ixchel.
