Funniest scene for the whole series IMO

A few years ago I binged Letterkenny, and I watched this scene fairly late one night after everyone else in the house had gone to bed. I laughed so hard my husband woke up from a dead sleep and came out to the living room because he couldn't tell if I was upset or laughing. I seriously couldn't breathe. Still one of the funniest fucking things I've ever seen.

Saltburn. I thought the story was good. A little edgy for the sake of being edgy. I could have done without the recap “how I did it” at the end.
Visually it was really nice. The colors and saturation really well done. Shot by Linus Sandgren (LaLa Land, Don’t Look Up, Babylon) on 35mm.

I loved the dance scene at the end.  Good for Barry K.

I've always thought Barry K was such a weird-looking motherfucker so it was strange seeing him as a sort of playboy. I didn't love the movie (seemed like it was trying to be The Talented Mr. Ripley), but the acting was great and I was especially impressed by Jacob Elordi. IMO he's the weak link in the main Euphoria cast, but I thought he was really good in this.

Watched another saved movie. Shiva Baby.  Really funny.

I love Rachel Sennott and watched this just before seeing Bottoms in the theater. It might be the most awkward movie I've ever seen, and I've watched a lot of awkward shit. The horror movie music helps in that regard.

  4. My Man Godfrey. Pretty funny screwball comedy from the 30s, especially if you like William Powell and Carole Lombard. My parents love The Thin Man movies so I usually end up watching something with William Powell or Myrna Loy when I'm over for holidays.

Just watched it, very good movie. Disturbing as hell. I thought one of metaphors present was drug addiction (parties, ritualistic use, escape from grief, chasing of a sensation, etc) so reading that the directors were partly inspired by seeing an overdose video made a lot of sense.

I didn't know that, but yeah, it totally makes sense.

you have to feel sorry for all the png kids too. Their hs is literally right next to a old and run down chemical plant owned by the worst company you can imagine. Same plant has blown up multiple times. Very big booms

It was super great having marching practice out there when the heat index was 105 and you could just smell the carcinogens seeping into your pores.

Last time that plant blew up I felt that shit all the way in Port Arthur.

Awful call on the PI, but congrats PNG. Maybe PA Memorial can trade HCs with them, because we beat them early in the season but can't make a deep run in the playoffs with all that talent.

I don't think that one has blown up in a long time, unless you mean the TPC one on Rubber Plant Road that blew up the week of Thanksgiving a few years back. That boom woke me up.

    Great win by PNG.

Joseph gonna be gone coach somewhere else at some point.

    Always be faithful!

PNG will just re-hire Todd Dodge to find them a new coach. But honestly, when they get home I'm sure Joseph will find his home has been turned into a shrine by the 10 people who stayed in town.

here’s what’s crazy- when netflix got Friends it became a worldwide sensation with Gen Z kids/young people everywhere. it was the no.1 netflix show for teenagers in the UK for months after it came out on netflix. so now there is this whole new generation of Friends fans all over the world who don’t know a thing about seinfeld. i’ve actually seen entire threads on reddit where young-ish people from overseas are asking questions like, “what is seinfeld? why do people compare to Friends? who is Jerry Seinfeld? I’ve never heard of any of these people.” it was a shock to the system the first couple of times o encountered it.

This doesn't really surprise me. Friends is a much more traditional sitcom than Seinfeld. Seinfeld had no central romance to root for, and furthermore, the characters weren't really...likeable, if you think about it. To me, that was part of the appeal - they were terrible people in a lot of respects, but really fucking funny, and that made it different from anything else that was on TV at the time. I didn't really appreciate Seinfeld till I was out of college.

I loved both shows, but they are very different.

Correct. Had to wash it down with something light, Evil Dead Rise. Basically a rom com compared to Threads.

No shit, right? Afterwards I thought, I need a palate cleanser to lighten the mood. Maybe something like Shoah, or, I don't know, Paths of Glory.

Fucking Christ, that movie was dark.

Very very weird feeling and watch. Was kind of struggling through it, and wondering where it’s going, but it won me over in act 3. Performances were great and I just love Natalie Portman, which helped my reception of the film.

The musical cues that come in are so out of place feeling and funny.

The Great Outdoors (1988) starring John Candy, Dan Akroyd and Annette Bening.

Had never seen it. John Candy was a tad bit before my time so not super familiar outside of Trains, Planes & Automobiles and Home Alone (this movie like Home Alone is also a John Hughes film).

This movie was the epitome of what I’d guess was ‘80’s cheese— nothing really interesting about it and it’s superficial humor, but Candy played the straight man great.

I need to see Brewster Millions and Stripes next.

We taped The Great Outdoors off of TV some time in the late 80s and watched it alllll the time - it's still one of my favorite movies. "Big bear! Big bear chase me!"
