  1. Boston went from gentleman's sweep to being in real danger of losing this series in one shot. Atlanta has a good chance of winning the next one at home. Then anything can happen in game 7.
  2. That is in the running for the worst take I have ever seen on this site, and that is saying something.
  3. Wat. KD was incredible at Texas. Had one of the best seasons by any player at the college level. The team was just waaaay too young to capitalize on it. Interesting question. Decided to go back and do a little research. This would be my order of liking the one-and-dones: Kevin Durant – 25.8 PTS, 11.1 TRB, 1.3 AST, 1.9 BLK – National PoY Sir’Jabari Rice – 13.0 PTS, 3.5 TRB, 2.0 AST, 86.3 FT% – Big 12 6MoY (Made Elite Eight) Mo Bamba – 12.9 PTS, 10.5 TRB, 3.7 BLK – All-Big 12 2nd Team, Big 12 All Defense, UT Blocks Record, Hit rap song (Lost 1st Round) Tristan Thompson – 13.1 PTS, 7.8 TRB, 2.4 BLK – All-Big 12 2nd Team, Big 12 All Defense, Big 12 RoY (Lost 2nd Round to Arizona) Myles Turner – 10.1 PTS, 6.5 TRB, 2.6 BLK – All-Big 12 3rd Team, Big 12 All Defense, Big 12 RoY (Lost 1st Round) Jarrett Allen – 13.4 PTS, 8.4 TRB, 1.5 BLK – Big-12 All-Freshman (No NCAA Tourney) Jaxson Hayes – 10.0 PTS, 5.0 TRB, 2.2 BLK – All-Big 12 2nd Team, Big 12 All Defense, Big 12 RoY (Won NIT) Corey Joseph – 10.4 PTS, 3.0 AST, 1.0 STL – Big-12 All-Freshman (Lost 2nd Round to Arizona) Ioannis Papapetrou – 8.3 PTS, 4.4 TRB, 1.2 AST – (Lost 1st Round of CBI) Greg Brown – 9.3 PTS, 6.2 TRB, 1.2 3PT – Big-12 All-Freshman (Lost 1st Round to ACU)
  4. I like that he has 3 years left. Get some player continuity up in here. Right now we basically have zero guards. We need 3 of Tyrese Hunter, Max Abmas, Tyrin Lawrence, Chendall Weaver. Any three out of that four would be fantastic.
  5. In my opinion, the only way that Ron Holland isn't in our starting lineup is if Dillon Mitchell is back. And even then, it will be a very interesting decision who starts at the 3. I could see a lot of minutes with a lineup like: Hunter + Abmas + Holland + Mitchell + Disu. That is a mobile, athletic, fast AF team that would be a nightmare to match up against on both ends of the court.
  6. Dude played pretty well as a freshman and won WAC RoY. Decent size. Shot >40% from 3. Low turnovers. Seems like a good add. That said, UTA was 11-21 last year. I would prefer to get players from winning programs if possible. Wonder if Chris Ogden started his recruitment to UTA when he was there.
  7. Abmas only has a year left so it doesn't really matter that much to K-State whether he plays for Texas or Baylor.
  8. What good is it having the most money if you don't use that money to win? Just to brag about?
  9. Looking at how the minutes might shake out if Mitchell and Hunter come back and we add Abmas. I'm not seeing how we have room for Onyema or any other 3/4/5 in that scenario. We really need to add another capable guard. I could see it looking something like this, with the orange highlighting the starters. (Note that we generally average ~220 minutes when you account for missed games due to injury and such). If Mitchell doesn't come back and we fail to add another guard, then we will need Onyema. We would also need Hunter and Abmas to log pretty big minutes (about what Carr did last year). Brock would also have to pick up the load at SG. I don't think this team would be bad, but it really only goes 7 deep.
  10. We should be looking at this guy Arterio Morris who is in the portal.
  11. Am I wrong in thinking that Brock could play some shooting guard for short stretches? The last two years he has shot 43% from 3 (granted on limited volume). He is also an underrated passer and I like the way he keeps the ball moving. He might have problems guarding the smaller guards, but has to do that all the time anyway when we are switching. Maybe he can work on his ball handling over the summer and give it a shot, playing an NBA PJ Tucker role. Anamekwe is going to give us some minutes at the 3/4. 247 had him as the #15 player in the state his senior year. It will be great to watch his development. He definitely has the physical tools to work with. I still don't think we will get a ton from him this year, but by next year I think he will start to be a contributor. It is also probably unrealistic, but I have some hope that Gavin Perryman will continue to improve and get a few minutes as the years go by. Like his dad, he is a great shooter and may be able to give us 5 min a game this year. He will now be in his 3rd year in the program after redshirting in 2021.
  12. Updated: Returning players: Brock Cunningham, Alex Anamekwe, Dylan Disu (Apr 23) Incoming Transfers: Kaden Shedrick (Apr 23) Incoming freshmen: Ron Holland (#5 National) Potential commits: Max Abmas (Oral Roberts), Ze'Rik Onyema (UTEP) Outgoing Transfers: Arterio Morris, Rowan Brumbaugh NBA Early Entries: *Dillon Mitchell (likely top-25 pick), *Tyrese Hunter (probably back) Decommits: AJ Johnson (#20 National)
  13. Got to agree with Derka on this one. Losing Morris was really really painful. He was going to be great for us this year. Oh well. The portal gives and the portal takes away.
  14. My bad. Forgot about that one. Mods can merge if they like.
  15. Those face up 10 footers won us the Big 12 Conference tourney and landed us in the Sweet 16.
  16. Disu deserves his own thread. Awesome news. Absolutely huge. I fully expect him to be getting 30+ minutes per game this year. He is going to be an absolute monster. All-American awards are definitely in play. Let's get him some help!
  17. I feel like this news deserves its own thread.
  18. Updated: Returning players: Brock Cunningham, Alex Anamekwe, Dylan Disu (Apr 23) Incoming Transfers: none yet Incoming freshmen: Ron Holland (#5 National) Potential commits: Max Abmas (Oral Roberts), Kaden Shedrick (Virginia), Ze'Rik Onyema (UTEP) Outgoing Transfers: Arterio Morris, Rowan Brumbaugh NBA Early Entries: *Dillon Mitchell (likely top-25 pick), *Tyrese Hunter (probably back) Decommits: AJ Johnson (#20 National)
  19. My main takeaways from the data: 1) We are in worse shape today than in previous years. Full stop. 2) Every year there are losses, even when we had one of the best salesmen in the world running the program. Kids leave early. Kids look for greener pastures. 3) Things can change a lot in a hurry. Today the roster looks bleak, but by June we could have Tyrese Hunter, Max Abmas, Dylan Disu, Kaden Shedrick, Ron Holland, Brock Cunningham, Ze’Rik Onyema and other supporting pieces.
  20. For perspective, here is where we stood in each of the last two years at this time. Make of it what you will. In 2021 at this time, Returning players: Andrew Jones, Courtney Ramey, Jase Febres, Brock Cunningham Incoming Transfers: Timmy Allen (April 13), Devin Askew (Apr 13), Christian Bishop (April 16) Incoming freshmen: Jaylon Tyson (#36 National) Yet to commit: Dylan Disu (April 26), Avery Benson (June 5), Tre Mitchell (June 15), Marcus Carr (July 17), Tristen Lincon (July 24) Outgoing Transfers: Donovan Williams, Royce Hamm, Kamaka Hepa, Gerald Liddell NBA Early Entries: Kai Jones (#19 pick), Greg Brown (#43 pick), Jericho Sims (#58 pick), Matt Coleman (undrafted) Decommits: Tamar Bates (#30 National), David Joplin (#124 National), Keeyan Itejere (#156 National) In 2022 at this time: Returning players: Christian Bishop (Mar 22), Timmy Allen (Apr 20) Incoming Transfers: Sir'Jabari Rice (Apr 19) Incoming freshmen: Dillon Mitchell (#5 National), Arterio Morris (#19 National), Rowan Brumbaugh (#93 National), Cole Bott (UR), Gavin Perryman (UR) Yet to commit: Tyrese Hunter (May 20) Outgoing Transfers: Courtney Ramey, Tre Mitchell, Devin Askew, Jaylon Tyson NBA Early Entries: *Dylan Disu (Withdrew May 31), *Marcus Carr (Withdrew April 22), Andrew Jones (undrafted) Decommits: none Currently: Returning players: Brock Cunningham, Alex Anamekwe Incoming Transfers: none yet Incoming freshmen: Ron Holland (#5 National) Potential commits: Max Abmas (Oral Roberts), Kaden Shedrick (Virginia), Ze'Rik Onyema (UTEP) Outgoing Transfers: Arterio Morris, Rowan Brumbaugh NBA Early Entries: *Dillon Mitchell (likely top-25 pick), *Tyrese Hunter (probably back), *Dylan Disu (probably back) Decommits: AJ Johnson (#20 National) Basically, at this point last year we had two solid known returning players, an unranked incoming transfer, and a bunch of freshmen. Then we got Disu and Carr back and added Hunter.
  21. I would just like some actual discussion about the team. Who are our top 20 portal targets? What are our chances to get them? What about the ‘24 recruits? What kind of offense will Haith run? If Donewald leaves will that open up another spot? If so who might be some targets? What are we hearing about Disu and Hunter? Any updates on our schedule? Do we think Brock can start at the 3? Etc. I keep hoping to open this thread and see updates. I’ve given up arguing with the RT critics. Time will either prove them right or wrong. Right now criticism seems premature to me, but opinions vary.
  22. Does he have the ball skills to start at the 3?
  23. I assume Holland will be one of our incoming bigs and that we will have interchangeable 4/5 in a lot of cases.
  24. Do you really think UTEE97 likes RT and wants him to succeed? I feel like I’m being labeled a RT fan, but I’m not. I agree that his resume is not suitable to be the UT coach. But that doesn’t matter now because he IS the coach. I just feel like we should let the off-season play out before we judge him. It would be nice if we waited a few years to divide into the pro and anti RT factions and just focused on supporting UT hoops for a while.
  25. Not being surprised and not caring are two different things
