  1. Haynes King in their most recent scrimmage. Looks like a bust.
  2. I still don't trust these inside sources to adequately determine if the throw was after what should've been a sack. Not counting sacks correctly has to be why people thought Card was the leader.
  3. Ewers getting 3+ weeks with the ones to prepare for Bama makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
  4. These reports crack me up, how they have to print whatever the random person they're using as a source says. "This source began a long rant about woodworking and the price of tea in China. Honestly, I couldn't really follow but they have insider access so I just stood there slowly blinking and nodding my head."
  5. Fuck the nerds. He didn't come here to play school. Footbaw is about gittin' er dun.
  6. Were there any practice reports from today?
  7. Casey would be the starter here if he’d stayed.
  8. I will say, listening to the man talk, I actually agree with all the other position choices he’s making.
  9. I'm over here watching Card highlights from '21. Man, I am trying so so hard to find something to make me excited and I am not finding it. I'm not putting it outside the realm of possibility that he has evolved and improved (also, Whittington fucked us hard in that Arkansas game) but I also think a player has tendencies and those rarely change. I'd just like to see Quinn get one more chance in the scrimmage this Saturday.
  10. In 7-7, it was all frenetic. There were staffers all over the field. IDK how the quarterback is expected to concentrate in that environment.
  11. Ian Boyd can’t be trusted to be honest and objective. He’s just trying to prop up his NIL guy. Card was sacked 7 times and threw 2 interceptions. Only 1 touchdown, not 2. The other one was a sack. Ewers protected the ball better and threw 2 touchdowns if you ask me. The Worthy drop in the end zone was on Worthy. Ewers placed it perfectly. His only INT was on a tipped ball that also should’ve been caught. It isn’t really close. It’s Ewers.
  12. Well, if the coaches are counting sacks as incorrectly as you are then I see the evaluation problem very clearly. Here, I'll list them, with timestamps: 27:57 - Sack. Dude is right in his face. Play shouldn't continue after that. No completed pass. 28:11 - Sack. Very next play. He would have gotten leveled. 29:56 - Sack. The defender who came around the backside was there and let up. No run for a short gain. 30:11 - Sack. The defender is right in his face, lets up. No touchdown pass. 31:02 - Sack. Defender would've destroyed him. No completed pass. 31:10 - Sack. This one's close but he probably would've been hit before the ball was thrown. 31:44 - Sack. No interception. So out of 26 plays for Card, 7 were sacks, 2 were legit interceptions. How is this a competition again?
  13. My dog, your bias stinks to high heaven here. It was much more than 2.
  14. That's what I counted, too. Some people are being way too generous with blowing the whistle. He was getting sacked right and left. Also, to be fair to him, those "interceptions" shouldn't be considered interceptions either. The plays were pretty much dead. I guess the question is why did he still throw those balls, though? It only makes him look worse after a sack.
  15. Damn, Card did practically nothing good in 11-on-11. Held it too long. Timing was awful. Ewers looked very good. It’s not even close. Great patience, timing, and touch. The offense actually moved under him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. A reminder of who Quinn was at Carroll: In 2019, he threw 291/402 for 4,003 yards, 45 TDs and 3 INTs. In 2020, he threw 159/241 for 2,442 yards, 28 TDs and 5 INTs. Oh, he also rushed for 701 yards and 12 TDs over those two seasons. So, he threw interceptions on 1.2% of his passes. This idea that he's super interception-prone is new.
  17. Another Saturday, another scrimmage to prove oneself. Let's hope one of the quarterbacks takes all of the coaching tidbits and applies them and comes away with a clean stat sheet on Saturday. I think that's all it will take to be named starter at this point; decent production with no turnovers and minimal sacks.
  18. If PK/Patterson have our DBs just playing above-and-beyond such that they're terrorizing the quarterbacks, I could see how it could make it look like the QBs are playing worse than they really are. If there's any time of year for mistakes, it's now when we can teach/correct them. As long as Milwee/Sark keep teaching and the QBs stay dedicated to learning and aren't making the same mistakes over and over again then we're probably in OK shape there. Not great but okay. Maybe a David Ash level of play. Hopefully improving as the season goes on. And Bijan/the defense/Worthy&Whittington could relieve some of the pressure on the QBs. Keep scores low, score 4-5 times a game. That's a pretty good recipe.
  19. At this point, I’m of the opinion that we shouldn’t even try to figure out the starting QB in practice. Fuck practice. It doesn’t count for much when the competition is this close. Games are what matter. Plan to start the season with both guys getting minutes and use the beginning of the season to find the guy who’s going to make the most plays when he bullets are live.
  20. I'm sorry, but this is a bit of a retcon. Yes, he was mostly productive at LT but that program is a beast unto itself and to say Card didn't have a tendency to turtle in big games prior to arriving on the 40 acres is a little untrue. What about the 2018 state semi-final where they got outclassed by North Shore 51-10? I think it will look pretty familiar.
  21. Sorry, I can't. I'm left-handed.
  22. You’ve been shit-posting a lot lately. Grow a sack and quit whining. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Seriously. The Doomerism inherent in our fan base is the same Doomerism inherent in our team. It’s why we’ve been sucking. No mental fortitude. The second something goes wrong, we just curl up in a ball and cry. Maybe instead of doing that, we should think “who gives a fuck, win anyway”.
