Im all thumbs on this. Im not going to pretend outrage. I got no clue on what determines a denial. Is it case by case or academics or circumstance? Id like to know in general.

NCAA is such a mystery on things like this.  All other UNLV  transfers were approved.  And the NCAA doesn't have to state a reason.

It seems like Leach himself publicly stating something to the effect of, "hell no, I'm never going back there" (I forget exactly what he said, but it was pretty much this) would be enough for everyone to let go of that particular pipe dream.

Leach would have more than willing to return to Tech as long as they paid him the money he felt they owed him.  This verified by numerous credible sources.

Cody Campbell played for ML and is a friend.  As one of the guys who writes the big checks he was willing to make it happen.  Hocutt, like a dumb bastard, would have none of it.  Of course it's worth mentioning, Hocutt has yet to make the first good football hire in his entire career, even going back to Miami.

Good question.  It's  certainly not officially listed that high by the university and a number that's very hard to believe.  You see his salary.listed at a variety of levels but with extra income  that number is often cited..  I'm skeptical.

That doesn't mean shit unless the win is vacated. That didn't happen. It wasn't "incompetence". Why wasn't it really reviewed? How often do you see an "illegal snap"  foul?

That call came out seconds after the fumble, not after review. What horse shit rigged nonsense. Wells' team is gonna give us some trouble.

You're right about it not meaning anything.  Thank you sir, may I have another?

i don't know why the officiating crew couldn't at least get together after the play and discuss what each saw.  Too much to ask though.

  5. As I read somewhere, the thing about this call that seems to set it apart some, is it appears we might have crossed the line between missed call and sheer incompetence..

The Big 12 today admitted they were wrong..  That and a few bucks might get you a cup of coffee.

  6. Texas Tech has received commitments from what appears to be a couple of decent recruits over the last few days.

Derrick Lewis, a LB out of Schertz Clemens who picked TT over Neb., Oklahoma State and others, as well as A&M Consolidated DB, Nate Floyd, who selected TT over Missouri and Ariz.  Tech now has 18 commitments.

    What about Thomas Leggett?

There has been no formal announcement as to either the nature of his injury nor his playing status for this week end against Baylor.  Informal word is that it's a concussion.

If a concussion is the issue, obviously his playing status will be determined by his ability to get through the protocol.

Tech has some serious injuries piling up. I don't know which DBs are going to be back for the Baylor game but I get the feeling this game will be ugly.

Chance Adrian Frye might be back.  Would be a big help in the secondary.  Good player and punt returner.

Good game for Tech.  Agree that Red Raiders DBs looked surprisingly good.  Wells seems like he is getting better discipline from his defense.

TT is really thin right now at DB due to injury, but they played well enough.   LB, Jordan Brooks, was the star of the show with 19 tackles, 4 tfl, 3 sacks, a forced fumble.  He's been playing really well all year.

Again, I am 100% sure he knew what Tyner was capable of, or not capable of.

You think we would have won the game or even made it close if Duffey had played the first two series?

Nah, don't think at all we would  have won or played them closer with Duffey starting.  It was just what to me was a startling poor decision by Wells/Yost that I fear doesn't bode well for the future.

So, a professional college football coach can't grasp the difference in talent between the Big 12 and MWC, but you can.  Got it.

I don't know if that's it or not, maybe it's just poor judgement in general that's the issue.  I'm not sure.  Something obviously possessed him to start a guy 99% of the people who care knew he shouldn't.  It's not just me I'm alluding to here.  Everybody (but Wells) was aware.

Further, you saw how his decision worked out for him.

You really think someone who's a former college QB himself, a former FBS level OC, and currently a FBS level head coach with an overall winning record is that poor an evaluator of QB talent?  I see no reason whatsoever to believe that.

I think he could be.  Coaches make player evaluation mistakes all the time.

He's never had a coaching job at a power 5 school. Even as an assistant.  He didn't play at a power 5 school either.  Of his last 4 seasons as a head coach, three have been losing ones.  This in the Mountain West.  Perhaps he had to experience personally, playing OU in Norman isn't the same as playing New Mexico.

    Thanks...

Did not see a QB commit in 2020 class... besides going after JC or Grad-transfer QB's, what's Wells recruiting plan to add more QB's??

Well, of course, Maverick McIvor should be healed within the next 3 weeks and could see some action in 4 games and keep his red shirt.

Actually, Tech has a qb commitment for 2020.  He's the son of a TT asst. coach.  Played qb at Bishop Gorman  on the sub varsity level.  As a Jr., he started at WR for them given the starting qb was already held by a Penn State commit.  Moved to Lubbock this fall and is starting at qb for one of the high schools.  Very athletic kid.  Donavan Smith.

TT also looks likely to get a 2021 commitment from Behren Morton.  Pretty decent offer list.  He's made 6 or 8 Tech visits already and has ties to the school and Lubbock.

I think it's pretty clear he knew Tyner couldn't hang at this level.  I'm fairly sure starting him was a statement to Duffey and the rest of the team that the guy who works hard and does things the right way will get the first crack at a starting job.

We'll have to disagree about that one.  If he was trying to simply make a "work hard" statement then I think he'd have played Tyner more than 6 plays--especially given the futility of this TT team trying to win in Norman.  At least put him back in the game at some point or something.

Wells certainly didn't hesitate to give some of those recent transfers playing time in the early season in any attempt to provide a work hard lesson

I think there's a good chance he's just that much of a dumb ass.

Aware starting QB for Tech hurt.

What's the story on "complete dumb pass for thinking otherwise" here regarding going with Jett going forward?

The Rice transfer had seen very limited action in two of TT's previous games.  He was beyond awful in those brief tries.  Literally everyone, fans included, but Wells realized, even in spite of Duffey's shortcomings, he was the better option of the two.  This was a guy who couldn't play at Rice and he's going to play against OU and 84000 fans and be successful?

it took a total of 6 plays for Wells to become aware of how stupid his decision.  Duffey played every offensive snap thereafter.

he won 55.6% of his bowl games at Tech and he did not beat MSU because he got himself fired Ruff coached that team

his only decent bowl win was against Cal and two of his other bowl games required massive comebacks in the 4th quarter against pretty shitty teams like a 6-6 Minnesota......because as usual mikes teams came out flat and the Clemson win was against a team that was 7-5 that year and the year before.....hardly the Clemson of today

and overall he is .500 in bowl games including the famous swung his sword New Mexico Bowl

and as the BBQ comment someone else made....well that coach has still accomplished more meaningful things in his career than mike ever has.....like winning the division, winning the conference, going to a BCS game, winning a BCS game and being ranked in the top 5

A better than decent example of your complete lack of objectivity, willingness to try very hard to criticize and desire to nitpick if that's what it takes in order to try and put ML in a negative light.  He went to 10 bowls in 10 years at TT.

Not wanting to give him credit for the Michigan State win is a laugh..  He only recruited the entire TT team,  put it together, formulated and implemented the game plan, led practices and prepared the team the entire week of the game and so on.  Absurd on your part.

the tiresome part is where he pretends he is not paid a lot of cash to keep players from getting lazy or thinking too much of themselves or "being free agents"

and as others have said he is the one that constantly has bullshit about anything besides football surrounding him......on another forum a Tech fan (cult of mike member) posted up mikes comments on the PAC 12 mascots and "look everyone mike talking about shit besides football" and the comment was made that look for WSU to have a shitty loss in the next week or two and sure enough the shitty loss to UCLA followed immediately after that.....and now another beating by Utah (that mike gives zero credit to Utah for)

it is the same old shit with him year in and year out he is shooting a bear or catching a big fish in the off season then losing to a D1-AA team to start those seasons or he is making some comments about how the playoffs need to be restructured (as if a team he coaches will ever sniff them) and then his team gets stomped out of playoff contention badly

his teams always come out flat as fuck after a bye week or they come out flat in a bowl game and it is clear the guy just does not use that time efficiently or like it is important instead he shines his suits of armor or dumb shit like that and makes cute comments to the press.....then shits on his team when they have a loss and pretends he is not the head coach that is in charge or correcting all the things he is shitting on them for....even half times the dumber the quip he makes on the way in or out of the locker room the more his team has made ZERO adjustments at the half no matter how bad they were playing and how glaring he problems are in the first half

He pretends he's not being paid a lot of cash to get his team ready?  Did you just hear him say in the video he didn't do a good job getting his team  ready?  I suppose not.

And his teams "always" come flat for a bowl game?  He won 60% of his bowl games at TTU beating among others, I believe it was number 3 ranked Cal, Michigan St., Clemson, etc.  So if you're inclined to criticize, don't just make shit up.

Garrido and Leach?   Are we serious.      One won championships, many.    Do the math on the other.  If you can't, he's won nothing.  Zero.

Leach's definition of "tough" Is standing behind a mic, as an unbridled ass, and calling out players as "fat" and "soft" when he is the model of fat and soft  His blame-everyone-else-I-can-think-of schtick was cute and funny a decade+ ago.  Made for good pressers and all that shit but it's worn out now.  He's just become an old, tiresome guy who thinks everyone else is to blame when, in fact, he's the one that deserves that collar, and no one else.

The Leach cultists are an interesting breed, to say the least.  If they ever wake up they'll get a mirror for Mike, take it to Pullman and ask that he spend 60 seconds looking at it. Maybe then he'll realize what the real problem is.

One coached baseball at UT, the other coached football at TT and WSU.  So let's not pretend your silly little Augie to Leach comparison is valid shall we.

Tho no title, it's hardly as if ML has had no success in the coaching profession.
