  1. Bleacher Report you say?
  2. Except many teams are experiencing the same trend of pitcher injuries. I think it's related to MLB cracking down on the sticky stuff and the emphasis on high velo/spin rates.
  3. I didn't have high expectations for Bloss for the remainder of the season given his inexperience and uncertainty wrt durability. We can at least feel confident that Kikuchi will avoid the IL and log innings.
  4. Good writeup on Kikuchi here https://orangefire.substack.com/p/kikuchis-effective-stuff-and-durability I think Josh Miller and Co work some magic with his stuff and he helps stabilize the rotation.
  5. No doubt, but there were still questions about the state of our rotation going into the season and plenty of options available. Remember the Blake Snell talk back in March? Stroman? Wacha? Seth Lugo?
  6. I get your point and generally agree with it, BUT.....even Dana Brown admitted in the press conference last night that he basically had to overpay to get a starting pitcher because names were coming off the board and he wasn't willing to come away from the trade deadline without a starting pitcher to buffer the rotation.
  7. The more egregious screwup imo is being in this situation in the first place. Had they added starting pitching depth in the offseason, we aren't desperate to make a move for a pitcher at the trade deadline.
  8. Do you have a source for Loperfido as a throw-in? Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't Loperfido and Wagner drafted by James Click?
  9. He's definitely improved his numbers in 2024 but his 2022/2023 AAA stats weren't terrible either. He wasn't ever getting promoted with the logjam of OFers at the ML level.
  10. He was promoted twice in 2021 and has been stuck in AAA ever since.
  11. For all we know he may have been the centerpiece of Toronto's asking price. I hate losing Loperfido AND Wagner in this deal and frankly am surprised Dana Brown was willing to part with them considering his public comments on air earlier this week about the need to protect position player prospects that can hit vs pitching prospects. Before the trade was announced I was actually hoping for Kikuchi as a trade target because he can eat innings, has good stuff, and was one of the better trade options considering the state of our farm system. I just didn't expect us to give up all that we did to get him. That's a steep price and it's hard to think we didn't get hosed by James Click. The only thing to do now is win the WS with Kikuchi providing some valuable innings and Pedro Leon making key contributions along the way. Fuck it let's ride.
  12. Sy Hersh has gone completely wacko since the Obama administration.
  13. That dumbass in the Space City jersey cheering that HR needs a kick in the nuts and a beer spilled on him
  14. all rookies are snake charmers against us
  15. probably getting traded
  16. Yep, they both remind me a lot of what Howard Dean was doing for Dems during the Bush administration fiasco. He was a great messenger at the time, especially pushing back against Bush administration lies, even against a backdrop of mainstream media normalizing the ginned-up frenzy around the "Global War on Terror."
  17. Walz and Pete are just absolutely COOKING wrt messaging. I can't get enough of them out there on TV reminding the electorate who the adults are in the room.
  18. Probably because that friend believed old people don't have S to get the TDs.
  19. Because I don't think picking Mark Kelly is any more determinative of that than Josh Shapiro or Tim Walz? I do know, however, that seat will be up for a special election in 2026 if Harris beats Trump and picks Mark Kelly as her veep and Dems need EVERY SENATE SEAT POSSIBLE in a Harris administration.
  20. Agreed he is a great candidate and at least his appointee would be selected by a Democratic governor, but is it worth the risk of losing his Senate seat in a 2026 special election when his term is supposed to expire in 2028?
  21. Jagger Beck is a helluva name for a baseball player.
  22. No way, he's too milquetoast as a running mate and is more needed in that Senate seat.
  23. It would also just reiterate the critique of Trump's awful decision-making wrt hiring subordinates.
