  1. It would be really nice if we have video of the entire incident we could release after Russia is done with their lies
  2. I would think that Reaper could do maneuvering that would make it very difficult for the jet to literally touch it, like fly close to stall speed or low speed tight turns. Wondering if the Reaper didn’t deviate from course because we wanted to see how far the Russians would escalate/didn’t think they would actually instigate a mid air collision.
  3. Literally we’re here now
  4. “Generally speaking, it’s some complete bullshit.” - mobilized senior lieutenant describing the Russian personnel logistics shit show. These protest videos are basically daily now.
  5. Good thread talking about the Russian personnel logistical cluster. Reminiscent of One Soldiers War.
  6. Supposedly Ukraine is interested in our cluster bombs. Story says they want to pull the bomblets out and drop those from drones; sounds like a win-win to me: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukraine-seeks-us-cluster-bombs-adapt-drone-use-lawmakers-2023-03-06/
  7. Filming summary executions / martyring warriors is really bad for PR. The Pulitzer photo of the South Vietnamese General executing the VC is one of the images that turned people against that war. The lack of blowback (and celebration to the contrary) for this makes Putin’s Russia appear to be an empathy-devoid dystopia. RIP. There was a Julia Ioffe post in her twitter awhile back where she was asking her Jewish/Russian dad if the Ukrainians were going to hold hard feelings towards the Russians like the Jews remember the Nazis; and he said no, it will be more like the Jews remembering the Egyptians. This hate ain’t ever going away.
  8. To me it’s weird because: A) nationalizing won’t increase production B) nationalizing oligarch’s personal assets may actually get Putin killed B) nationalizing doesn’t give him the ability to blame the oligarchs for everything C) so if he does nationalize, when things are even worse a year from now, Putin’s fig leaf of plausible deniability will be even smaller and there will be less people to deflect blame to. Bad politik.
  9. Putin threatening to nationalize defense companies if they don’t get the production up. Weird. I’m guessing just political posturing.
  10. 30 turkeys around the house this morning. 9 toms.
  11. Forgot to mention there was a tom with 9 hens by the house when we drove in and we heard a bunch of gobbling, so that was fun too.
  12. Had a good afternoon at the ranch today. Our little spring started running again a month or so ago, and I planted some apples adjacent to it. They’re doing well but I needed to put some bigger cages on them and got that done today: Took the 10yo and she played with the catfish for awhile, did a little casting: Did a little .22 target shooting and got my nightvision scope sighted in on my AR. Kid is into spray paint graffiti apparently now as can be seen.
  13. Well, we’re there. Russian dude puts his hands up after the first grenade as though he would like to surrender to the drone. Drone operator declines and gives him another grenade. Is surrendering to a drone legally a surrender?
  14. The best part for me is that after the APC doors open, the drone operator waits a few seconds longer than I was expecting to drop the grande. It’s like he was fully expecting the clusterfuck and was waiting for it to fully metastasize before fraging them. A true artist.
  15. Looks like Vasques’ unit maybe heading downrange in assorted technicals and trucks/vans. Would be a lot cooler if these dudes were rolling out in armor.
  16. Drone grenade on Russians unloading out of an APC. The clusterfuck at the back of the APC pre-grenade is kinda interesting. Who’s staying? Who’s going? Who’s shot? I’m not shouting, you’re shouting! Boom!
  17. Apparently at this same tank in Vilnius with the Soviet Nostalgia Dumpster, a guy tried to leave a toilet by the tank, but I think the cops overruled him. The toilet was marvelous while it lasted. Really tied the room together.
  18. UA assaulting a Russian held trench. Looks like a scene from WWII. One of the UA guys gets clipped, but still moving, Russians get lit up pretty good. Outcome unclear. The fact that the Ukrainians are assaulting trenches on foot is something different. Would have been really nice to drop a drone grenade on the Russians right before you storm the trench.
  19. Dude’s body armor stopped a 30mm round, fairly impressive:
  20. There is a big divide in Eastern Europe between the folks nostalgic for Soviet times and everybody else:
  21. UA artillery inside view
  22. Somebody’s rifle sling caught a bullet
  23. That’s a lot of trucks lined up, maybe the UA has something cooking:
