So a senior, good head on his shoulders, calls out a team full of players that lost to Kansas and somehow it turns into he should tell them to their face that they are entitled pussies who need to take the next step and play like they belong at Texas. I’m sure he’s never had that talk with any of them prior to this rant. I personally think it was awesome and I bet some of them finally wake up and for those that don’t…well fuck them.

Everyone is also operating under the assumption that he hasn't said this privately. He probably has, and it hasn't worked out, so hes going this route on his way out. I love it.

    Next Monday, big timer.

So if we move does that impact the "locking in donation forever" that we were promised last year? Although it seems they might just raise ticket prices to get around it but still would be good to know.

They are just going to raise ticket prices now that donations aren't tax deductible and they are splitting donations for basketball, no on is really going to care.

I thought is was $80 million, but now it’s $90?  Does the buyout go down with each remaining year of the GOR? That’s what I would have expected. If it doesn’t go down, why stay one minute longer than we have to (assuming the money can be wrangled)?

I think it’s equivalent to the next two years of media rights so now we are on the hook for higher since it’s a year later

    There are three parts:

Season Ticket Cost (not tax deductible, required), Seat Related Gift (not tax deductible, required), Longhorn Excellence Gift (tax deductible, not required). What is changing this year is the seat related gift is now separate for football and basketball, with the move to Moody next year.

The Seat Related Gift is what is locked according to the athletic department (if you locked in last year), but the season ticket cost can always change.

Right and my point is that given Seat Related Gifts are no longer tax deductible, theres no difference to a purchaser of season tickets, nor the athletic department. So I bet we dont see the seat related gift going up regardless - they will just raise "Season Ticket Costs" for everyone, even if we are locked in on the "Seat Related Gift"

I mean, the number one reason the prices went up is the extra game. The rest is probably best summed up with “because they can.”

Want to bet the ticket prices don't come down next year when we have 6 home games?

The bigger news is that the seat related gifts will no longer apply to basketball once the Moody center opens up. Big loss of value for people who use it for both.

Im pretty sure once we join the SEC post-2021 season ticket holders can expect an increase in their donation level every 2-3 years….

why would they do that vs just increasing the price of the tickets? They would get 100% of that increase vs. increasing donation level if people are locked in, and since neither are tax deductible anymore, it doesn't really matter to any new season ticket holder. So it would just be Texas being nice to their fans, which they keep moving further and further away from.

CDC hinted at raising donation levels last year was my interpretation. It doesn't look that that actually happened which was their who point in locking in now. Didn't they say new ticket holders from '22 on would be subject to rising donation levels? Did they actually move forward with that?

They didn't this year. They increased the price of the tickets but not the "donation" which is exactly what I thought was going to happen now that the donation isn't tax deductible. I doubt "locking it in" last year will give us any meaningful benefit in the future because of that.

  8. OU seat selection is GREAT news. Will be interesting to see how many prime seats are blocked off for university use - been very disappointed with my OU seats recently.

Also classic Texas - increasing prices, 100% of which is to the season ticket cost a year after making a big deal about locking in seat gift amounts. Knew that was going to happen!
