So the Valentine to Rhodes in 5 min challenge, do you have to do anything in particular to trigger it?  I just did it in under 5 min and didn't get credit for it

Weird. Try again. Maybe you started outside the Valentine city limits or something.

What act is that, namely? My post was in response to what feels like people sniping at the most minor and ridiculously acute things all because of hate and irrationality. Red Christmas trees, taking a motorcade, etc.

My point was this seems like the best response anyone could have gave regardless of political affiliation and I’m interested to hear people try to nitpick a criticism out of it, further betraying their hate and irrationality.

You’re surprised when people complain about how a piece of shit smells?

Right. A carbon tax is designed to correct an inefficiency in the market: mainly the failure of the market to account for externalities (climate change). It is sort of like if a factory pollutes a local river and kills all the fish. The polluted river is a cost associated with the factory. And in a true free market system we would want the supply and demand curves to account for that cost so that the market reaches an equilibrium based on all the costs and benefits of the factory. But, when the cost isn't clearly attributed to a market participant, that balance isn't reached, or rather the most efficient outcome isn't reached (i.e., you have more widgets produced than you would in a completely efficient system that account for the external costs). Correcting such inefficiencies is a classic market based approach, with the goal of having something closer to the theoretical perfect market.

Wow it's like you took introductory economics in college.

But until anyone and everyone who supports and enables what's happening right now is gone, she and they have my vote. And I'm not alone.

You are not alone. My default vote has always been Republican, and it is now switched.

When I was a young teen in the early 90s, R was STEM, foreign policy hawks, economists.  Now it is a bunch of chodes that try to devalue education.  It is not a course correction I would have seen coming.

Republicans appear to see public education as "socialist."
