I have a 38 gallon in my Tundra but I have never filled up more than 31 gallons, I let it go all the way down to where it says 0 miles left. Not sure if Toyota has a 7 gallon reserve built in?

That's been my experience with the 38gal Toyota tank.  Never run it down below a point where I put in more than 32gal

  2. More pics from you salties, please. The only way I catch specs and reds is vicariously, through y'all.
Couple weeks ago on a trout trip. Decided to get some chum out of the freezer in my garage beer fridge and soak it at a rock pile during dead high tide. Couldn't catch live bait because nobody brought a sabiki or any small bream hooks on the boat (three tackle bags, easily $1K in terminal tackle on the boat). Had to get rid of the chum so we hit the pile anyway. My buddy bent a khale hook and caught a few massive spot tail pinfish. This is what we bagged on the first one. I let him in the picture because he: bent his hook, caught the bait, floated it back and then ultimately netted the fish. a4451e9b5eff3a0ff6357c446ffbefca.jpg

  3. Just unloaded a pump tactical shotgun for about 25% more than I paid for it 18 years ago. When shit gets back to normal I'll buy a semi for about the same $$$.

Got a XDm without a system it fits these days I will also sell at a premium.

  4. Yeah, had a friend that flipped one years back.  Bought the rifle, scope and a few hundred rounds for less than $1,200.  We played around with it.  Thing is, it's so heavy, it just pushes you back.  Not snappy at all.  The muzzle blast is nasty.  Stay behind that thing when it fires (spectators).
Building on this: it may be a good time to unload stuff in your collection you aren't crazy about at ridiculous prices and then stock-up on what you want when shit gets back to normal.
  5. I just don't get the runs on ammo / guns when shit gets hairy.

We're comfortable being armed for (among other reasons): SHTF scenarios in the first place...

So when SHTF we need to all of a sudden run out and make sure we have ammo? Doesn't every gun owner already have a pile saved up?

  6. Had a threesome with my two boat trailers today. I got the worst of it.

Ameritrail "uprights" were down to one, lonely upright that was hanging by a thread. The other upright left the chat last Spring in the middle of a highway construction zone.

Not pictured is a step bit drill job I had to pull off on the duck boat trailer (securing trailer winch) and then the Pathfinder had a stripped screw hole under a hatch lid. Removed and inverted the lid, used Marine Tex.

Time for a cold one. a6b4bdd69e1ddb1d3222924554c01d94.jpg

  7. What a badass old dude.

I just started reading a book about this called Imperfect Passage. I read about the first third of it today. Will report back when finished. Trying to get into the sailing part of the story. I am a power boat guy.
  8. So, way upthread I asked for recommendations for a 9mm based on features I wanted. They are:
    1) metal, not plastic
    2) hammer not striker
    3) "real" safety
    4) American made
The choice seemed to be Sig, but those fuckers are expensive.  I've discovered that the Beretta M9 meets all of my criteria.  So, gun guys, is there any reason that I shouldn't buy that gun?
M9 would be a great purchase. Had two. No issues.
  9. How about Key West during the middle of May?  Brother, Father, and I are looking at going for my brother's 40th birthday.  He's looking into these guys for a guide:   https://keywestfishing-charters.com/ but all of our research thus far is simply based off of Google searches.
I would research the charter operation as extensively as you research a VRBO or similar. Keys guides (and KW guides in particular) are NOTORIOUS for being rude, unprepared and not really motivated to put you on fish. I have had Keys guided trips that were a disaster after getting direct referrals from inside the S.Fla charter fishing industry. The asshole / retard rate is astonishingly high.

No experience with the operation in that link but the website leaves me with concerns. I live in Florida. I fish pretty regularly. Almost every one of my fishing buddies has a story about going on a guided trip in the Keys that was laughably bad. IE: "I had to use my own Sea Tow card to get the guide's boat towed back to the dock and then got talked-to in the marina about not leaving a tip" bad.

  10. Anybody done a charter out of West Palm, FL they enjoyed? I’ll be there 3/2-3/9 with my in-laws (not a bad thing) to catch a couple Stros spring training games. My FIL is an experienced fisherman. I’ve tried my hand at most things except fly fishing (hope to one day), but definitely consider myself an amateur.
FIL has said he would be interested in bone fish or tarpon, but certainly not just dropping lines on a reef with a group charter (me neither).
    Any thoughts?

I am an inshore guy but this is who I fish with while down there:

  11. Hickock did a video review, and his new Python failed miserably. The cylinder would not turn - and it wasn’t the ammo. There is a possible recall in the works already.
Has any gun company ever pissed away more opportunities, in a better sales climate, than Colt?

It seems to me like that company could've been printing money for the last 15 years and they can't get out of their own way.
  12. So immediately I am like "MOTHERFUCKER!!!" in my head. But then I look closer...

It's some kind of ganesh statue for an Indian (South Asian) howl-at-the-moon festival that was apparently going on. Lots of South Asians in the old neighborhood.

Crisis avoided. Continued on to the playground 598ce4c0f8781ad6a2e104034818188c.jpg

  13. Lol I am an "every weekend" hunting or fishing guy. Doing so in an area that produces a good number of dead bodies. Finding one is my nightmare.

So on a windy spring day I took my 5YO son to the neighborhood lake a couple of years back. He looked off the end of the pier and called to me: "Daddy there's someone down in the water."

I pulled him back and looked over the deck boards to see this: 7caebd31a622a713a030b14ea7bea1bc.jpg
