  1. New truck day yesterday. 2019 Tundra TRD Offroad.
My old 2004 Z71 now starts its new life as a ranch truck smile.png65af7f3ce4faafcd73809ebdf5cb9d36.jpg
Nice! I bought this truck (2018) back in September. Love the cement color. Michelin tires are nice too.
  2. Just ordered another Odyssey 31M-PC2150 for a house/cranking battery.  I bought the boat used and it came rigged with an Odyssey 31M-PC2150 as well as an Optima Blue Top.  The Optima Blue Top was testing bad so decided to roll with two Odysseys going forward.  My little bay boat wintertime spruce up has gone full B.O.A.T. on me.  VHF, antenna + mount, speakers, livewell pump and now a starting battery.  About $1350 in just hardware.

Also keeping with the B.O.A.T. theme: the Yamaha trim/tilt motor died while the rig was in the installer's shop.  Gonna have to have a few extra beers out on the water to take the sting away.

  3. Installing a VHF and antenna on my bay boat. The hull is black so I bought a black antenna to match. The installer took this stainless antenna mount and had it powder coated black to match. He has a little bit of OCD. 4a3feb9107c8d7d4b3733ab3a6c47ac4.jpg

Also, PROTIP: download Motion X GPS app on your phone before you go. Your phone is a GPS. You don't need cellular data. A GPS with Google/Apple map aerial overlay made a big difference out there.

Assuming this is only for IOS?  I couldn't find it just now on the Play Store using my Android.

Lots of good info in the first 50 posts or so already.  Hopefully I can make some contributions in 2019.  I just installed a new TM battery in my "technical poling duck boat".  I am getting a VHF and antenna along with some new speakers installed in the Pathfinder.  I hope to be chasing trout/reds soon.

  5. Also I took Mrs. Bigshark to the rimfire range one afternoon to get her some trigger time.  Got her lined up with a Marlin 39 and told her to close her left eye while keeping her right eye open to get a sight picture.  After a few minutes we realized (to my horror) that she was physically incapable of closing her left eye and keeping her right eye open.  Never heard that before in my life.  Eventually got her shooting with both eyes open like an "operator" I guess.  We still laugh about it.

She claims to be able to access and operate the defensive firearms in the house but I harbor SERIOUS DOUBTS about that.

  6. This PF-9 always stirs the pot but this is a good deal.  I have one for CCW and it's an effective, 7+1, 9mm that can be pocket carried in the summer while in your Bermuda shorts if you're at or over about 5'10".  This is as low as I've ever seen one priced.

    Is it

    Pretty? No.

    Technologically advanced? No.

    Exuding materials and craftsmanship? No.

    Fun to shoot? No.

    A conversation starter? No.

Going to impress your buddies/folks at the range? No.

Going to show up on the next movie, video game, TV show? Only if The First 48 counts.

    Will it

Go bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang? Yes.

Carry in your pocket as the lightest 7+1 9mm on the market? Yes.

  7. You guys with the 5.7 Tundras don't think they're geared too low in 1st and 2nd? I got into one coming out of a 5.7L Ram back in September.

Towing about 4500lbs of bay boat it feels like the Tundra is more capable from 0-25mph. Feels like I'd rather have the Hemi when passing traffic between 45-65.

  8. This guy's rotor wash was taking up 100% of the marked channel on the way back in from a mid week fishing trip. Not sure what the maritime navigation rules say about this situation. We had plenty of tide to ride around clear of the rotor wash on the flats. It was training and there was nobody actually in the water. d3ecc3343d1f120c526f4d6db6fd1fc0.jpg

  9. Recs for 150gr precision factory loads in 308? I gotta do some paper punching on some qualification targets to get on my club's longer ranges.

I normally punch paper with Freedom Arms remans and I get flyers. Possible the issue is me and not the remans but I gotta start eliminating issues.

  10. Shimano just did RIGHT by a buddy of mine who's reels got submerged and inundated with canal mud during a storm surge. He shipped all reels back to Shimano in Irvine, CA. Repairable reels were cleaned up and many rebuilt for $25 each. Some of the reels MSRP for $400+. Some repair sheets he got back show that Shimano replaced basically everything but the frame. Other reels were too old for replacement parts (like old school Baitrunners and older Stradics). Shimano swapped them out with newer models (Sargoosa and newer Stradics) for cost.

I had no idea they had CS like that. If you lose a through hull and sink the boat or have a hurricane / flood at the boat house - it's good to know.

  11. It’s an old ass Bausch & Lomb 2.5x8. Will keep it for whatever reason but she’ll get something new. If she groups like my .257 then it’ll likely be a Z5.  If she can’t take advantage of that, VX3-5.
PM me if you want to get rid of the old optic. Got an old family rifle that needs new glass. Don't feel like throwing any new, wiz-bang scope on her.

  12. Brand new Kubota at the deer lease.

This grapple attachment is a pure game changer when it comes to moving downed trees. Conservative estimate: I saw this thing move 50 tons of hardwood out of logging roads this week. Still cleaning out roads following Hurricane Michael. Then, when we break-through to the food plots, it just starts disking them up.

Hard to even articulate how much this machine saves chainsaw chains and guys' backs. I am happy to run the saw or spread 10-10-10 / seed around it. (My buddies don't let me drive her). b3ac78a67a2de68515a6b032815bbd3f.jpg
