Just saw a preview for Obliterated. Special ops team takes out a nuke in Vegas. Celebrates Hangover style only to find out the real Nike is still out there. Hangover crossed with The Peacemaker and seems like a live action Team America. In.

Great thing is as long as UT takes care of business no matter what else happens its all going to come down to the last game on Sat. Noles and Cards. I imagine the ratings for that will be thru the roof.
Can I at least dream of a 12-10 or 9-7 Iowa win on a last second field goal?

Edit.... dammit, Huck beat me to it.
I said it upthread, but they have never taken a 1 loss non-conference champ over a 1 loss conference champ. Of course, they could start this finalyear, but I doubt it. All of the below presumes we win, and I am so glad we play at 11:00 so we get our game out of the way.....
If we presume the above, then if FSU loses, we are in. Period. Unfortunately, I think Georgia/Bama winner is in no matter what, and Oregon will get chosen over us if they win. While I don't agree, I've made peace that because Oregon has been ahead of us since we lost + "Ess Eee Cee can't be left out!." I'd love to be pleasantly surprised.

Brooks’ 5th foul was bullshit too. Look, they didn’t want the Rockets in Vegas. Same for the Kings, but they overcame the rigging.
We need to make some peripheral moves. Would like to see team make play in. Having that Oladipo contract ought to be helpful and willing to add Tate into something as well.

The Michigan State comparison is really unfair. They were smart enough to get out from under the dumb ass contract they prematurely handed out.
To extend the Michigan St comparison, if you really, REALLY, want to get an Aggie hot, tell them that, historically, as a program, Aggie is probably a little bit behind Michigan St. Aggies have them a little on overall winning percentage, but MIchigan St. has them on pretty much every other metric.

As a Duke guy, we really liked Elko, but knew he would take this job if offered, if only for the guarantee if it doesn't work out. Worst case, he's on the Tom Herman/Kevin Sumlin track and gets another job after A&M.
I just don't see him as an A&M guy. Look, what he did at Duke was awesome. He took pretty much the same roster on defense from the previous year and made it salty. He was gifted a really, really, good QB in Riley Leonard, and some mid to late round NFL talent at RB to have a pretty good offense to go along with the culture shift he created on defense. He hit the portal and made the defense even better this year. But when Leonard went down, the season went off a cliff (and it was also a crazy tough schedule). But he is a northeast/Big 10 personality that will have to deal with the West Texas/East Texas oil money rednecks. The culture fit just doesn't seem great as a HC, where as a DC, it mattered less, if at all.
All that said, if the NIL train over there keeps chugging along, and he gets a really strong OC, if they take all of the that off of his plate and let him be a coach, who knows what will happen? I just don't see this as anything but a bandaid.
It sucks that I can't really hate the Aggie coach, though. Elko is a good dude. He just needs to be careful because he is very much on the Mangino/Friedgen trajectory.

If we win and Louisville wins we are in. It’s that simple. That’s the clearest path barring an Iowa miracle. The committee has never taken a 1 loss non conference champion over a 1 loss conference champion, so if Louisville wins and Bama wins, too, I’m not that worried. I think Bama winning is a bigger upset though. Wouldn’t be surprised if ACCCG is close to a pick ‘em.

The Darryl Stingley thing with John Madden at halftime of SF/SEA tonight and the Derek/Derek Jr connection was pretty cool. Had no idea Madden did all he did for Stingley after Jack Tatum paralyzed him.

USMNT 2023

Went back and watched and when Turner shoved Dest off the field it looked like Dest looked back pointed at Turner and said “I’ll remember that”.
Dude lost his mind. Give him the Nations League off.

I don’t understand why it’s hard for people to find things. On Apple TV, the search function works across all apps but Netflix. So two searches and you find what you are looking for, sometimes showing multiple platforms for viewing options. Now if you aren’t subscribed to the service, it’s a business decision. But outside of you Torrent pirates, it’s all a business decision anyway, right?

The Dessners are starting to look like Doc Brown from BTTF before his hair turned white.

I thought it was a fantastic show with a whole lot of deep cuts. I think Austin brings that out of them with their SXSW and ACL history. Glad I made the drive down.
Lit Up. Available. Neither I’ve seen them play, I don’t believe, and this is my 8th show including ACL Festival.
And they have a new live banger in Smoke Detector.

I agree with the comments about the Moody Center, but man the setlist last night was pretty spectacular.

This. It was perfect. I quite enjoyed the show and the venue but I was on the floor. I could see it being a less ideal experience in the seats. Someone upthread asked why they aren’t playing the ACL theater - that holds less than 3k I believe. Moody was too big but outside of going out to 360 at COTA, everything else is way too small for them now. Perhaps Moody Amphitheater. I don’t know. But they are “in between” in this town. A tight 7k hall would be perfect.

Pelicans helped us out and Rockets still control destiny in tourney. Sucks to lose tonight, though.

If people knew T Swizz was showing up for a three song set for her friend Aaron before she flies down to Rio for her show tomorrow, I think it would have sold out.
im here. Floor should be great even if venue too big.

The finale was well done. There is an instinct in many, I think, to see this thing as shameless self promotion for Ryan and Rob. And look, there is something to that.
But these dudes are so fucking earnest, man. In the penultimate episode when Charlie Day, while crying because Wrexham scored, told Rob “I’m happy because I’m worried about you, man” - that was some real shit there.
So in the finale when you see the town celebrate, it’s just fucking awesome that these guys have helped make this happen.
And it very well looks like they’ll be in League One next year. A long way to go and their defense is shit. But they are sitting firmly in a promotion spot.

Green won’t show any contrition but he’s begging teams to start baiting him with scrubs while their stars clown his ass. And I hope it happens. I would like to see someone clock him in a Kareem/Kent Benson kinda way. No need for the full Kermit Washington, but something more than the slap fights of the last 20 years.

I would love to add another scoring option to the bench. Brogdon would be my #1 choice. Get that guy and this team will easily surpass their O/U.
I wish our game tonight counted for the in-season tournament round robin instead of the game in 2 weeks.
What's the trade for Brogdon? Tate, Oladipo and a future (not 2024) protected pick? That doesn't seem like enough, but maybe there is a contract we can take off of their hands.

Jeff Green on the team for games like this. I am cool with him getting many DNP-CDs this year, but he has a role and value.
RIP Shane Macgowan

About 30 years more than anyone would have thought. I finally saw him in 2010, I believe, at Stubbs with The Pogues. Was a lot of fun and glad I got the chance.
