I also forgot...these are THE BEST S&V chips I've ever had.  And I started eating S&V crisps as a kid when I lived in England in the 70s.  The ONE bad thing about moving to TX was the lack of this type of chip.

Most S&V chips are good but "mild" in flavor.  These Utz S&V chips punch you straight in the face to announce they're S&V...TONS of flavor.

Sorry to tell you but it's already in the Keys.  It's going to be brutal here when it gets into the canals.  The stench will be worse than the dead fish from the red tide that just ended.  I expect locusts and pestilence next.

God...that reminds me of that hellacious freeze in TX a few years back when it was below freezing for 2 or 3 days straight here on N Padre Island.  Killed shit tons of fish and the canals were putrid...and I live on a canal.

We would drive by this guy on the way to church.  We'd always count the arrow sticking in him.

Years later, one of the older guys I worked with said that he and his buddies in high school would drive around that block, and one of the guys would lie down in the truck bed with the bow and arrow, and they'd take turns shooting at the chief.

HAHA....I remember those arrows when I was back in HS...hadn't thought about that until now.  Thanks for the good memory.

    BWAHAHAHAHAHA...WTF again.

I now am approved for my FOURTH AMEX Platinum Business card with 120K MR points after $15K/3mo spend.  I've got some big expenses coming up so this was perfect to knock out about $14K of that...

Come next year, I'll start cancelling cards #2 and #3...but until then, gimme free stuff...

This was just a card offer on the website.

    Oh my mother fucking God...

AMEX wants me to get my FIFTH Business Platinum for $15K/3 mo spend.  WTF are they doing here???

I'm passing this one since I'm currently working on the spend for another card, but still.  I think someone there is on crack.

I'm cancelling 2 of them next month which will ensure I keep the MR points from them.  Going to keep my first one open and then close the last one in about another year.  I don't need FOUR of these fuckers.

Acapulco #1, 1133 Airline Rd, Corpus Christi, TX 78412 solid taqueria food

Out of the way, but damn good breakfast tacos, everything else is fair …. Feliz Amanecer In calallen

    southside barbacoa for breakfast

Sonny’s is damn good breakfast, worth trying their lunch menu

    avoid yola, it was horrible

not corpus, but tell them to go try Bubba’s in Seadrift for seafood. Weekend crowds are crazy. The Sunday fried chicken buffet is damn good, but be there at 11. The Taqueria in Seadrift is very good, I’ve had 200+ meals there

canales cafe in tivoli is very classic Tex mex lunchz. I haven’t been there in a awhile, but had many good meals there

I get to Seadrift periodically.  My GF's best friend owns the winery in Long Mott on the way into town so we stay with them several times a year.  I'll have to try that place.

  6. Linda's on Gollihar has really good breakfast tacos.  And it ALWAYS packed...so, take that for what it's worth.

It's actually owned by the mother of one of my engineers...

And Casa Vieja on the frontage road between Flour Bluff and Waldron is decent.

It sounds like you fly a shitload of domestic miles, which was the distinction I made.

The context of my comment was an airline asking $3k for a status upgrade. Maybe it's worth 1/5 that amount, or less? The majority of benefits of status are available from a credit card or just buying up when you purchase a seat.

AA just offered for me to keep my Platinum for $1750.  Since I've already earned enough Loyalty Points to at least be Gold, I'm not that interested.  I do like that you're higher on the upgrade list and the extra checked bag when my GF and I travel (which is about twice a year), but other than that, it's not THAT much better than Gold.  I guess there are more seats available at booking and a little higher point earning but that's not $1750 worth.

I've seen a couple others on reddit who go the same email you did, but it's certainly not everyone.  Must be targeted somehow.  Maybe combined spend across all your cards or something?

Might be.  Like I said, I have a number of different Plat cards (they keep wanting to give me MR points which I like).  I'm getting ready to cancel 2 of them in a few months, though, to get rid of the annual fee.  I've gotten 3 Bus Plats and 1 personal Plat in the past 20 months.  MR point bonus with all of them (except the personal but I just got it and haven't met spend yet).

This is all with the same LLC.

Yeah, it seems like he's getting through a loophole because the new rules are pretty clear.  With all due respect to Ag it pisses me off to no end when I go into a lounge for peace and quiet and someones kids are there misbehaving because daddy has a credit card.

Don't worry.  My youngest kid is 27 years old.  I'm not one of those assholes.

But, yeah...must be some weird loophole since I know I'd gotten emails letting know guest access was going away.

I saw a notice in the South Jetty that the physical move is happening this weekend. And who knows about opening.

They moved part of it earlier this week.  They moved the main building yesterday.  I didn't head that way (they're cluster fucking the Commodores/PR22 right now) but I did have several friends that went that way to watch them move it....

  11. I've got to go back and try Port A sometime soon.

I used to go multiple times a year when I lived in the DFW area.

Now that I live on N Padre, I rarely drive the 20 min up the road...I just do the places here on NPI.

    Damn I've gotten lazy...

The $50 per visit fee is reimbursable through Amex's $200 airline expense reimbursement credit on your personal card if you choose AA as your designated airline for the year.

AHHH!!!!..Now THAT is good info to have.  But I thought it had to be charged through the airline.  Is that just a special perk?

I'm Platinum on AA so there's not much I get charged that qualifies anymore.  Used to get those 500 mile upgrades for $40 but they did away with them last year.

Even when I've been in a seat that "technically" doesn't get free booze, I've gotten free booze.  Probably because my fat ass is so dead sexy.

No.  Number of cards you have doesn't matter.  The new rules are in effect to prevent what you want to do.  Club users are fed up with people brining families into the club and hanging out for hours on end.  American Express listened.  You'll have to pay $50 an adult for non-cardholders and $30 a visit for children (unless under 2).  You could also make them authorized users but that costs $175/year.  If you spend at least $75k on the card a year you can get a (singular) guest in for free with you.  Note: You cannot make a child under 13 an authorized user.

Well...shit.  At least 90% of my travel is work related so I hit the lounge solo (fuck my lolpoor coworkers).  But, it's nice for my Christmas trip to SXM to hit the DFW or MIA lounge for the layovers with my GF.  Don't think that's worth $175 for the AU since it's only once or twice a year and and $50/visit, it's cheaper to just pay at the door.

Just as well...I'm getting ready to cancel several of those Business Plats - just got them for the MR points.

I am looking forward to the new guest policy for Centurion.  The clubs are nice, but man, they are overcrowded.  The DFW Centurion is just about unusable.  If I have time, I go over to Terminal E for the low end PP lounge and get a plate of pot roast if I need lunch.  Much better than fighting the crowds at Centurion.

$50 for guest (including spouse) + $30 per child should make a difference.

If I have Plat AND Business Plat can I get 2 people in?

What if I have 4 Business Plats and 2 Plats?

I got caught in it.  Flight cancelled.  Thankfully was able to book on another airline with a connection.  Got on a delayed flight and with a connection, should get home at same time, good lord willing.

I boarded my flight at 0530 this morning.  At 0555, the door of the plane was closed and the pilot announced we were fucked and everyone was grounded.

Luckily, they let us deplane about 5-10 min later.

After an hour, we bailed and I'll let our travel dept fix it.  We'll make the trip next Wednesday...

Not a fucking chance. An airplane that starts its day 2 hours late is going to finish it’s day tonight pretty close to the same 2 hours late. The days of making it up in the air or having airplanes scheduled to sit at the gate for several hours to be able to absorb things like this are long gone.  Schedules are built tight, generally speaking. They will swap a some airplanes around to get some flights to run on time, but generally the whole system will be jacked up until tomorrow.

I wouldn't doubt it's longer than that.  This also fucked up a lot of duty day times for available flight crews so it's not just aircraft placement and airport gate availability...
