  1. I'm just waiting for one of these kids or their family to publicly admit what deal they got, thinking incorrectly that it is NIL and it is legal now.  I'm curious when they were offered these deals how it was presented.  Are the boosters trying to blur the issue and mention NIL so the family feels better about it, or is it still perfectly understood that this is not above board and they need to keep quiet.

What I think he was actually trying to say is that it might be more shoulder width than arm length with Williams, but it was hilarious to me right after he was talking about Williams's weight. Also, it would be news to me that it's a bad thing to have really broad shoulders as an offensive lineman. His wingspan is his wingspan. That shit is good, Brooks trying to downplay it was stupid.

It matters when you are sticking your arms out in front to prevent a rusher from getting in to your body.  The portion of your wingspan that is your shoulder width doesn't help in that situation.  But also fuck Gabe Brooks.

For those that missed the Sark presser, his answer on Patterson was interesting. “We don’t know if we want him here, and we don’t even know if he wants to be here.” Ouch. I knew the introduction started with CDC but it’s clear that the staff hasn’t seen it so far as a great idea.

Ehhh, I took it more as Sark trying to be clear that there was not an offer out or a deal in place already, in case it doesn't work out one side won't look like they shot the other down.

  4. If the motivation to go there was the bag, and not because you like the school/coaches/town, what happens next?  Now you have to actually live there and go to practice and class.  Where is the motivation?  I'm sure a lot of these guys can still be successful, look at someone like Leal who took the bag but still developed.  Bryce Anderson seems like a good kid AFAIK, he just bought into it somehow.  But the mercenaries?  It will be fun to watch when things don't go as planned.

  5. I always thought TCU did a good job of playing zone but having the DBs recognizing routes.  At some point zone needs to turn into man, the point isn't to just cover grass.  Our guys don't react until the ball is already caught.  Is that something Patterson could implement as an analyst, or do you need film and on the field instruction?  I would guess the latter.

  6. The sad thing is we didn't even need above average defense this year.  With a defense that was lacking playmakers but was at least competent we would be sitting at 8-2.  My assumption at this point is that even the players who are trying hard don't have trust in what they are being coached to do.

  7. Here is our performance last year for reference.

    5 - L - OU

    9 - l - ISU

    20 - W - Oklahoma St

    29 - L - TCU

    37 - W - WVU

    63 - W - Baylor

    67 - W - K State

    69 - W - Colorado

    76 - W - Tech

    123 - W - UTEP

The Oklahoma State game was a "good" win, but otherwise looks similar, assuming we don't lose to WVU.  My impression of this team vs last year is the talent is down and the coaches are better, but not by much.

yep. It’s possible Texas is the gatekeeper in this league (the roll OSU or TCU used to play it’s gross that it’s us) and separates the top 25/close to that teams from the also rans.
if you look at our schedule that is a plausible way to read it.
    0-1 against top 10 (OU)

0-2 against 10-20 types (OSU and Baylor)

1-2 against 20-30 (Arkansas, Baylor Louisiana)

6-0 against also rans/non top 30 types (Rice, Tech, TCU, Kansas, WVU?, KSU?).

that’s way worse than we hoped for. If we end up 7-5 and say we beat all the bad/mediocre teams on our schedule and lost to all the good and better teams with 1.5 good WR’s, shitty QB play, Shitty blocking and an awesome tail back that’s a story Sark can credibly tell in the portal and one more off season of recruiting but he better follow it up with results in 22.
I’m more trending toward it doesn’t go down that way and we are actually fucked- but that’s at least plausible.

Here is the schedule vs the F+ rankings

    9 - L - OU

    13 - L - ISU

    18 - L - Baylor

    21 - L - Oklahoma St

    29 - TBD - K State

    30 - L - Arkansas

    53 - W - ULL

    58 - TBD - WVU

    64 - W - TCU

    67 - W - Tech

    125 - W - Rice

    126 - TBD - Kansas

The optimistic view is that we are a fringe top 25 team, that got steamrolled on the road in a hostile environment in game 2 of a new regime, and then played our top 4 opponents in a row and lost as expected.  If we were to win out this would make sense as a narrative for the season.  How much of the recent trend was us simply playing better teams, vs not getting better or actively getting worse?  I have no fucking idea.  At this point though it is certainly possible or maybe even likely that we will underperform and lose one or two more because the mindset of the team has been broken.

  9. Hagrid and Velocicoaster do not have Express lines, but we find it is worth buying anyways because you can get on any other ride with less than 15 min wait.  Standing in line for 45-60 min for those isn't so bad if that is the only line you wait in all day.  Hagrid is our favorite ride, but Velocicoaster is intense.

Our last trip we were able to go to all 4 Disney parks in the same day (last day of the trip, we had already been to each on previous days), but I wouldn't recommend it.  You can definitely do everything at Hollywood by afternoon and then park hop to Epcot for dinner/drinking.  The line for ROTR was 90-120 minutes without the Lightning pass, and yes they sell out soon after 7am.  If you don't have a Lightning pass get to the park at open and go straight there, the families with little kids will go to Slinky Dog instead.

Driving is easy other than MK. Best bet for MK is to park at the Contemporary and walk. You can valet or if you have a dining reservation they'll let you just park there. Or you can lie. It's not as easy as getting dropped off at the front gates with Uber but I would rather drive than have to wait for and load onto buses personally.

So no long lines at the car parking lot entrance around park opening time?  I'm remembering some of the bad experiences at sporting events.

Also, if you haven't heard magical express no longer does luggage or flight check-in.  I'm looking at Avis preferred at the airport.

  11. Anyone have recent experience with having a car at WDW?  We are staying at animal kingdom hotel and plan to go to all 4 parks plus universal.  Previous trips we used magical express for airport, bus to parks, and Uber for universal.  I'm trying to decide if we can save time driving to parks vs waiting for the bus, or is it a hassle to walk from the parking lot, lines to enter/exit parking lot at peak hours, etc.  Plus I hate Uber and covid safety.

  12. Anyone want to wager a guess if it is going to repeat this weekend?  Southwest is saying they have it under control and it is getting better, but it depends on what was the real issue.  I have a flight saturday morning out of Love and am considering driving.  Going into friday night or saturday morning with no guarantees (or at least a lot more uncertainty than normal) sounds terrible.
