  1. Interesting take from the r/Detroit subreddit regarding the Deaborn Caucus and the like:

I talked to a few Arab friends of mine and gathered the following:

Arab in-fighting is not a new concept, a lot of the rallying for Gaza, behind the veil, was just rallying against Israel. I think a lot of Arabs could care less what happens to Palestinians, they just wanted Israel gone to open up some opportunity in the region. I imagine Egypt would like its cut of Gaza back, and Jordan would take the West Bank back if they were afforded the opportunity. I’m not trying to imply it’s purely antisemitism, it could anyone that behaves the way Israel does and they’d want them gone. In fact, some Arabs might even see a loss of either side as a win-win. The only true loss was a peaceful negotiation that left both groups in the region. That’s why a 2 state solution was never good enough. Way easier to take over a region where there’s only 1 group defending it, rather than 2. Highly speculative though because I’m aggregating this opinion from comments made over an assortment of conversations with varying seriousness.

I think the part about just being "against Israel" is pretty spot-on. They don't care about Palestine or the Palestinians - they just oppose Israel.

Trump's Gaza plan/statement is about as much of a worst-case scenario as they could imagine.

Ukraine and Europe will be his in time.

dude, Ukraine is already lost. He just doesn't know it yet.

Russia isn't a threat to anyone other than themselves at this point. There's a greater chance of Poland sacking Moscow for shits and giggles than there is of Putin doing anything to anyone else.

Trump and Elon fucking the goat isn't going to help Russia anymore. They're fucked.

Putin could liquidate Elon Musk at any time if he desired. I don't think it would be that hard for him to get to Trump either if he pleased.

he couldn't even whack Zelensky and his security is far less than what Trump and Elon have.

    (or Putin's).

I don't think Putin has much say anymore - he's lost control of the entire situation if he ever had it.

Doubt he likes the idea of Ukraine sending rare earth minerals to the US or the US turning Gaza into an overseas territory.

tbh Trump doesn't need Putin anymore. He's got all he wants and can now stab Putin in the back - just like he does everyone else.

What could go wrong?  Yes, let's purge the CIA too.  This apparently was Ratcliffe's idea.

Elon is doing what the did at Twitter/X - just start haphazardly cutting and creating an enormous mess, then having to clean it up later.

DOGE is getting sued left and right and backing down constantly. This isn't going to be sustainable.

Democrats are doing a good job sending the message that Elon is making a big mess, and then Elon will try to say he was following Trump's orders.

Then Trump throws Elon under the bus and acts like he didn't know what DOGE was doing.

They already had planned two things he said would be "new?"

"Canada is making new commitments to appoint a Fentanyl Czar, we will list cartels as terrorists, ensure 24/7 eyes on the border, launch a Canada- U.S. Joint Strike Force to combat organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering. I have also signed a new intelligence directive on organized crime and fentanyl and we will be backing it with $200 million."

    100%

    saw that too.

    just doesn't seem like much.

My point was up until today, the Democrats have been strangely quiet. Today Democrats are on the ground at agencies holding press conferences.. a little late but needed. And due to the egregious acts of Elon and his team, obvious security risks, illegal acts, etc., one would think some Republicans would be just as frightened about what is happening and speak up as well. Federal employees, non-partisan, members of both parties.... are outraged and sounding the alarm at what is happening.

They haven't really had to - the OMB memo and tariffs caused so much tangible damage (and quickly) that people started calling their reps immediately. They didn't need the Democrats encouraging them since the backlash was so swift and intense.
