Available now, COVID-19 test for hospitals and healthcare providers Protecting frontline healthcare providers is critical to stopping the spread of COVID-19. 2. From Tito's website Hand Sanitizer While we advise that you cannot use our standard vodka product as a hand sanitizer, our team at the distillery has been working hard to get all of the pieces in place to begin production on a hand sanitizer that adheres to industry and governmental guidance. Last week, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) announced they are authorizing production of ethanol-based hand sanitizers by permitted distillers. This good news allowed our team to continue working on this process. Currently, we are testing our formula, procuring necessary components of supplies and packaging, and preparing for production as we wait for the additional required ingredients to be delivered to the distillery. We have the ingredients and equipment on order to make an initial 24 tons of hand sanitizer over the next several weeks, and plan to make more from there as needed. While we don’t have all of the details quite yet, we do know we will be giving it away for free to our community and those most in need. We will update you as we know more. https://www.titosvodka.com/stories/sending-love-and-goodness/

  6. If Losartan and/or hydroxychloroquine actually works, the Govt can't yet say it works. If they say it works then it's the toilet paper run all over again, but worse. People are already contacting their doctors for Losartan and hydroxyc prescriptions. Govt would need to build stocks for first responders and patients first before the toilet paper hoarders attack.
  7. Losartan currently being trialed for CV-19 treatment. ... Also this week, the University of Minnesota launched two trials testing losartan - one to measure whether the hypertension drug reduces the risk of organ failure for COVID-19 patients who have been hospitalized, and another looking at whether the drug can limit the need for hospitalizations. Losartan is an angiotensin receptor 1 (AT1R) blocker, which researchers say could play a role in blocking an enzyme used by the virus to bind to cells. ... https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-usa-treatments-idUSKBN2161QQ
  8. New York is testing 10,000 people per day. Contact your local politician why they can't do the same. NY Coronavirus: Testing Reaches 10,000 A Day The priorities for getting tested are the same as on March 8, when there were 105 confirmed cases in New York. There were 7,102 cases Friday Since the first week of New York's new coronavirus outbreak, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been urgent about expanding the ability to test people for it — so that if they are confirmed positive, they can go into isolation and their contacts can go into quarantine. It's all about reducing the rate of the virus's spread, because at this rate the state's healthcare system will be overwhelmed with severely sick people needing hospitalization, as happened in Italy and elsewhere, he said. Overnight, the state did 10,000 tests, Cuomo said in a midday news conference on Friday. That's a massive increase from two weeks ago. https://patch.com/new-york/nyack/ny-coronavirus-testing-reaches-10-000-day
  9. Agreed, New York City is testing 5000 people a day. They figured it out, not sure why others can't.
  10. Where did you find this number? According to the State of Texas website there were almost 3000 new cases in the last 24 hours. I assume this is the number of tests completed.
  11. I've made a list of my neighbors, and ranking them in preparation of going full Donner Party. Anybody else doing this?
  12. Microsoft built a chat bot for CDC as a CV-19 assessment tool. Delivering information and eliminating bottlenecks with CDC’s COVID-19 assessment bot Mar 20, 2020 In a crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s not only important to deliver medical care but to also provide information to help people make decisions and prevent health systems from being overwhelmed. Microsoft is helping with this challenge by offering its Healthcare Bot service powered by Microsoft Azure to organizations on the frontlines of the COVID-19 response to help screen patients for potential infection and care. For example, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) just released a COVID-19 assessment bot that can quickly assess the symptoms and risk factors for people worried about infection, provide information and suggest a next course of action such as contacting a medical provider or, for those who do not need in-person medical care, managing the illness safely at home. https://blogs.microsoft.com/blog/2020/03/20/delivering-information-and-eliminating-bottlenecks-with-cdcs-covid-19-assessment-bot/
  13. And, the people waiting in line outside were too close together. Definitely not six feet apart.
  14. After I saw your message I did a drive by recon of two Austin HEBs: Far West and Allandale. Both had longs lines to get in, but the parking lots were not full. They must be limiting the number of people in the store at once. At Far West, I counted six delivery trucks waiting in line to unload, looked like Normandy on D-Day.

  19. Austin Mayor Steve Adler and Travis County Judge Sarah Eckhardt are set to make an announcement regarding the coronavirus outbreak at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The announcement will come as Austin remains one of the few remaining large Texas cities to not adopt Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations to limit large gatherings to 50 people.
  20. I grew up in the country, so if I can find a tree with some moss, I'm good to go.
  21. Colleges shut down: the college kids immediately pack the bars. Public schools shut down: the kids pack together to hangout, play basketball, etc.
  22. I've been flipping between Fox New Channel and Fox Business News for the past 45 minutes. Both have live stock ticker graphics on the screen. Both are also covering all aspects of the virus: stock market crash, interviewing doctors, discussing closures, sports shut downs, etc. I must have been watching at a different time than you.
