  1. Have some of you “duffers” ever worked backwards golf? I was taught that in the 80’s for any par-4 and etc.

what is the total yardage and from the tee to the green, what club “comfortably gets you there”? The rest is up to chipping and putting!

It sounds so easy, but it is! Not all par-4s require a Driver or 3 Wood off the tee! It’s all about what yardage is needed for a “comfortable” approach on par 4’s. They are over 50% of the course! Scoring-wise, if you can squarely hit the ball, and a somewhat decent putter, you’ll always break “Bogey Golf”!!

I’ve told beginners and high school golfers, the same “secret” for decades, to include my son, but that’s NO FUN!

I’d rather have a 5-7 iron to the green, than chipping out sideways, having driven 280+!

I can go to 90% of courses and play bogey golf, or better. But that’s bland golf!

  2. If you want to just shut up any aggy is to just simply ask, “What male sport, not just the Big 3, has your aggy school ever won, during your lifetime”? Crickets/Silence while they think about it.

Edit: They were good for a year or so in golf and track. That’s all I can come up with.

  3. Great addition Augustus! I’ve monitored this page from its inception in March. Quite literally mentioned me in your post.

I’ve since gone to multiple AA meetings in my home town and have actually “enjoyed” the time spent there. Quite frankly, I don’t think I’ve actually become an “alcoholic “ , but the last year or so would’ve “qualified” me.

My recent problem is binge drinking, thankfully at home, but none the less is drinking until I fall asleep, or pass out, what ever comes first!

Two+ hour weather delay to start the final round of the VTO. Sky is starting to clear and players should be starting around noon.

Pin relocations and some sand trap work is needed during the next 45min -1hr. Heavy rains in areas of SA this morning!

  5. Jordan couldn’t find the fairway on his front nine. First close approach on #10, he missed the birdie, but flipped the switch after that and was -5 on the back nine.

Two totally “different” approaches to hitting his driver on the back - I don’t know, but he found fairways. If he shoots 5-7 under or better tomorrow, look out for Spieth at Augusta. Tee shots aren’t held to a premium as much there, compared to this week’s course in SA, which usually has a Top 5 scoring average as the toughest on tour the last couple of years.

  6. I was at the VTO today and will be back mañana. Best field in a while. Spieth is 2 off the lead and starts early in the AM.
It got pretty hot (mid 80s) this afternoon, compared to the early practice rounds in the 60s for a high.
Jordan should be able to attack the pins early, while it’s cooler and softer greens.
He’s playing with Johnny Vegas and Billy Ho, so it’s a good group. Vegas is one off the lead heading into tomorrow.

  7. My only exceptions to carrying is airplanes, courthouses, and the shower.

I have always carried the “most caliber” that my clothing will allow to be worn and comfortably. It’s tough during months where the weather gets ( and stays) above 85.

Some people might scoff at the LCP, but when running a quick errand in “stretchy waisted” shorts and sandals, at least I have it with me.

I used to have a heavy assed Bond derringer, that I bought for that purpose, but it would pull those type of shorts down. It was a great back pocket “snake gun” while weed eating at the range - loaded with CCI .45LC shot shells. That was before they made the longer barrels for .410 shells.

  8. The only problem I’ve had with the LCP and the original .380 (can’t remember the model Ruger copied) was when really trying to rapid-fire, I’d stove-pipe around round 4-5. Not every time, but it seemed like every range session.

It’s just too light of an action in my IMO to really rapid fire - even with a good firm base.

  9. You get acquainted with the pinky under the mag quite quickly - with practice. My first EDC firearm was the Glock 27 and although a double-stack grip, the pinky still went under. I only shot the extended mag at the range (extra mags), but without the extra “finger slot” helped conceal in an ankle holster. Mine would “print” on the back of my leg.

SIG 938 is considerably thinner than my G-27 and the main reason I changed. I also like that I have a one in the pipe and cocked & locked! I also love the 1911 platform.

  10. EDC - (with pants on) is a SIG 938. 90% of the time it’s in a DeSantis ankle holster. The rest in a DeSatis pocket pouch/holster.

I also carry a Ruger LCP, also in a DeSantis pocket holster, when wearing “gym/drawstring shorts”. Shorts with belt depends on pocket depths to decide on either the LCP or 938.

Both of those are 6 shot mags, so I actually carry an extra mag in the opposite pocket. You never know?

Winter (jacket all day) OWB holster has multiple or larger pieces/caliber options of course!
