  1. Mack did get us an Alamo Bowl win vs Oregon State - David Ash, prior to his concussion problems. Then beat both paper clip and aggy with Colt’s little bro.

Back when I was a kid, if UT only had three wins in a season - OU, Arky, and aggy, it was a “decent” season. If that did happen, it usually guarantees 8-9 wins at a minimum.

  2. Don’t expect a “Sooner” response to Constant’s post. Even with him being a constant presence here - OU will always SUCK on this site! Bunch of methhead dirt burglars that they are!!

Imagine where their program would be if no Texas HS players ever suited up in Norman!

  3. LSU vs UT goes way back! My Dad was on the team that played LSU in the ‘63 Cotton Bowl. Even though they only lost 13-0, the score wasn’t indicative of the ass whipping received according to both the players and DKR.
The mantra heading into the off-season was that never again would a Longhorn team be out-physicaled or better conditioned! They ended up sweating their ass of more during the spring of ‘63, under the West side, than ever before! Sometimes even turning the heater on in the weight / exercise room of the West side - thanks Frank Arena!

All this helped lead to an undefeated ‘63! So thanks LSU.

  4. Jiggy-Z,

I know the emphasis on ‘69 that you are referring too. As a son of a player on the ‘63 team, I understand your perspective.

I will tell you that my Dad always said that the ‘64 team was “better” than his ‘63 team, but Arkansas happened. Nobis was only a junior then and etc. 66-68 were some lean years of a decade of greatness! Dad’s teams (60-63) never lost to OU or aggy!

  5. Fng aggy !!! I work along side so many of those d bags, that it’s almost comical. Every time they go past my office area, full of Longhorn memorabilia, they hang their heads in shame!

I never have to hear their “Whoops” during meetings. Yes - I added the “S”! I set them straight years ago!

  6. When I was in HS ( late 80s), I loved the “black shoes” schools. ND was the main one, until our Gardere led Horns of ‘90! They donned the black shoes that year for the first time, since the grass days of the 60-70s.

Of course I was A Longhorn fan prior to that and for LIFE!

  7. I have a game-worn sideline jacket (pull over) worn by Lou Holtz, while he was at Norte Dame, b/t ‘88 and ‘89. Any value in that item?
It was donated by his sister at a donation event in Houston, almost 20 years ago. My Dad bought the silent auction item. “Holtz” is hand written on the tag (collar) and is like a medium, because he isn’t a large man.

  8. I was there! Something like a “Randall’s Grocery” $5 ticket in the North end zone. I remember that I needed to get to work at the Williamson Co. Jail, in Georgetown, by 4:00!!
I still had the drive, plus changing into my uniform, but it was worth the wait!!!

Even though he kicked it into the South EZ, it felt like the wind was definitely against him. I remember the hype of the “Barber Brothers” heading into the game. What a way to start the season!

  9. I have the ‘82 Cowboys on a football, to include Tom Landry. Door Prize of the Cotton Bowl Breakfast the day prior to the SMU vs Pitt game. I got the the whole Pony Express to sign the days program and after I showed it proudly to my Dad, he stated that I needed to go get that tall guys autograph over there talking to reporters - Marino! As a kid, I really didn’t know of him, but Dad stated that that would “complete” the signing of the day, so I did. Eric Dickerson and Dan Marino on the same program - who would’ve known?
