Glad you and the kids are ok! Can you fill in some of the unknowns for us? Did they have a propane tank? Did you know the occupant(s)? Normal people or is a drug lab possible? Did a second house also collapse or is it just the one that went boom?

We don’t have natural gas in that area, the only city service is water so just about everyone has a propane tank. We assume that’s what it was but not certain.

I’ve met the husband but don’t really know the family. But some of our friends do.

It’s not a meth lab, it was a brand new never lived in house, construction subs were going in and out near everyday. The family hadn’t moved it yet but the owner was there when it went up. It’s his car under the rubble. He was taken to the hospital but saw on the news that he’s doing okay.

All the houses around front (mine)/back side/side had pretty bad damage. The side one closest to DK Ranch had their side wall collapse and the lady in there was taken to the hospital.

Do you have a point? You clearly don’t understand the conversation.

We were talking about UH Bleachergate, after which, Texas stopped playing UH, because, fuck them. Until the B12 invited them in, and absolutely made sure Texas would have to play them, there in Texas’ final year.

I can link articles where Tech has complained to the governor about Texas not wanting to schedule them. Economics studies by Baylor about how vital those games are to Waco.

I have no idea why you are upset by our off season talk.

We never played SMU OOC after the SWC broke up and their pay for play death penalty. We never played UH OOC after the whole Bleachergate debacle. I hope/assume likewise we will never play Baylor OOC due to their many issues including the Briles rape scandal.

Texas has no need to play more games in Waco or outside of the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. We would benefit with a Houston game but Rice can checks that box for us.

I could see us eventually scheduling a home and home with Tech or TCU. I wouldn’t advocate for it personally as neither will excite our fan base, bring many eyeballs, nor help with recruiting, but I could see it being politically expedient to offer it as a goodwill gesture.

That being said if we never play another OOC away game in Texas other than Rice, I won’t lose any sleep over it.

How long would the half share last? If the offer was permanant half share or like a decade I'd reject that too.

Unclear, I assume the half share would be for the length of their proposed TV deal but most of that hasn’t been released publicly. If it was permanently at a half share then I don’t blame them for turning it down.

They also are giving Gonzaga a FULL Football share so I could see how that would rub Texas State the wrong way too.

Wasn't the original MWC formed by a few members of the WAC to separate themselves as more valueable than the rest and ended up merging with most of the left behind's anways a few years later?

It took a decade+ but yes they pretty much brought back TCU and everyone in the Mountain/Pacific Time Zones other than UTEP.

Utah/BYU (now in B12), Colorado State/San Diego St (joining P12), New Mexico, UNLV, Wyoming, and Air Force left the WAC to form the MWC leaving behind…

TCU (later invited now in B12)
Fresno (later invited now in P12)
Hawaii (later invited, still in MWC)
SJSU (later invited, still in MWC)

UTEP (only recently invited to MWC)
SMU (rumored but never officially invited, now in ACC)
Rice (rumored but never officially invited, now in AAC)
    Tulsa (see above)

Fresno should feel good about themselves, going from shunned to shunner. Utah State and Boise State weren’t in the original 16 team WAC when the MWC split off but obviously their trajectory is great as well.

  4. Rumor going around that Texas State was offered the final spot in the PAC12 at a 50% share and turned them down.

PAC12 has been turned down by everyone in the AAC and MWC so they either will have to take New Mexico State at significantly reduced share or Texas State at a full share.

So, if schools from the MW and American are out and the Pac-12 won't take FCS programs (that's been reported), the options are Texas State (from the Sun Belt) and New Mexico State (from whatever the hell football league the Aggies play in). Those are not good options, which has led to this stalemate since Texas State is apparently unwilling to take less than a full share of media-rights money. If that means New Mexico State gets invited to the Pac-12, hilarity will ensue.

There were 6 original books written by Frank Herbert

His kid finished off the original series using Frank Herbert’s notes in Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Dune. It’s not like Sanderson finishing The Wheel of Time or anything but it does tie up all the loose ends so I’d recommend giving those a read too. I would NOT recommend Al; the prequels his kid did.

I would assume people who live in and around Victoria, or those who just don't want to see aggie bullshit spreading anymore than it already has.

aggy just needs to take Corpus, Kingsville and Victoria and just merge them into one regional institution “aggy gulf coast” or whatever. They can’t do much worse than UH.

They are also looking at taking over UH-Victoria this September. Sorry bastards just want to destroy the world.

Who the fuck cares about UH Victoria?

In case anyone is interested the link below has the full CNBC list. That Tech is top of the Big 12 and aggie is #3 ahead of schools like Michigan and USC, it leaves me very skeptical of these evaluations.

    Link to CNBC full rankings

Cal just ahead of Wake and behind Wazzu Rutger and Boston College got a major lol from me.

With two extra at large? I don’t get why BIG and SEC have the same auto bids. SEC always is deeper at the top than BIG. If there are at largest I guess we just assume SEC gets them.

Calculus changed a little when they added the 4 out West. Before that move I don’t think they would have been gifted that 4th bid. They assume Mich/OSU/Pedo will typically be up there and Oregon/USC/Wash pretty much encompass all the competitive history of the PAC12 save those few years Stanford was competitive and a Utah team or two.

If ESPN can get Mich/OSU/Pedo and USC into the CFP they’re good with giving out the occasional spot for Indiana or Iowa for that possibility.

Yep. Regarded. In fact, they swept the three major preseason individual awards:

    2025 preseason SEC individual awards

    • Coach of the Year: Michael Earley, Texas A&M
    • Player of the Year: Jace Laviolette, Texas A&M
    • Pitcher of the Year: Ryan Prager, Texas A&M
    • Freshman of the Year: Derek Curiel, LSU
    • Newcomer of the Year: Blake Cyr, Florida

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous of which is, ‘never get involved in a land war in Asia,’ but only slightly less well-known is this: ‘Never go in against aggy when hypothetical award votes are on the line!’”
