  1. This map shows vaccination maps for 12+ yrs. Red (Seminole/Gaines Co.) has by far the lowest at 19%. There's a large Mennonite population there. Highlighted (Big Spring/Howard Co.) is where I'm heading tomorrow for my dad's memorial service. They're at 30% for 12+.

Here's the map for 65+ vaccination rates. Lightest shade means less than 60% of seniors are vaxxed. This one is obviously the bigger concern.

For a county led by conservative MAGA assholes, Collin has come through on the vaccination front.
  2. It's absurd on its face that abbot's BIG ACTION(!!!) was to direct a commission to direct an agency to start to investigate an issue. Absolutely nothing for actually solving the issue, but just enough for know-nothing right wingers to say he's doing something.

It’s not important to accomplish anything, it’s only important to LOOK like you’re accomplishing something. Someone made it through four years of presidency following the same principle.

  3. I don't understand how you "back the blue" folks watch that video and reconcile it in your heads.  To call police in this whole thing, pawns, is an insult to shitty chess pieces.

“They were set-up by the FBI”. I only read this so don’t ask me to explain it.
  4. Semi-relevant contribution to this: A family friend recently shared on Facebook some long rant about electric cars or some shit (I stopped reading) but the first comment was an elderly lady saying "thanks for posting this article, very insightful."  It's a small thing, but the use of the word "article" was eye-opening to me.  An alarming portion of the population sees no difference between a rambling Facebook post from a stranger and a front page article in the New York Times.

They see a difference. The random post is reality and the NYT is fake news.

  5. Quote

“Sell the franchise & some Texas Patriots will buy it,” Patrick said in a tweet at the time. “We ARE the land of free & the home of the brave.”

Evidently not free enough to choose whether or not to play the anthem.

  6. I wish abortions did not occur. My question is this...If we outlaw abortions, what evidence is there that the War on Abortions will be any more successful than the War on Drugs? If the goal is reducing/eliminating abortion, criminalization seems a bad strategy.

  7. 18 months ago, I predicted that DeSantis would use obscure governor's powers to keep Trump from having to be removed to New York to face civil/criminal/federal charges.  He's not so much at Mar-a-Lago for retirement serenity, as he is effectively living there under the protection, mafia style, of DeSantis.
Since the invention of the airplane, there is no President that didn't take some sort of trip for either relaxation/leisure or business/former head of state purposes in the first 6 months of their post-presidency.  The self-described workaholic who had to constantly tour Trump properties all over the world suddenly won't even travel to Manhattan---his homebase for three quarters of a century?  Hasn't wanted to play at one of the other 18 Trump golf courses around the globe?  Shit, I play maybe one round a year and if I have to play the same course twice in a row, even I get bored.  He's playing the same two near Mar-a-Lago on a weekly basis.
Let's be honest, Jimmy Carter is likely going to die sometime between now and November of 2024.  He will receive a well-deserved state funeral in D.C. before being laid to rest in Georgia.  Trump will conveniently miss both of those events, unlike all the other former Presidents.  And why?  Because he's as scared to step out of Florida as Joe Jackson was to step off the field in Iowa.
Trumpers---the next time your guy goes back to New York City...it'll be in a coffin so he can be buried next to his cunt parents.

We need a MAGA traitor to guarantee his safety in another state but instead hand him off to the NY prosecutor. Trump will fall for it because he’s no Michael Corleone.
