  1. For real. It’s like driving by an overturned manure truck on I-45 without all the inconvenience.
  2. The funniest thing to me is that I figured Elko would probably be their guy all along. They could have just worked out the terms and hired him without a lot of drama. But no, they had to fuck this up in the most spectacular way possible. They have probably screwed themselves out of being able to hire anyone else worth a damn on favorable terms for at least the next 10 years. Never change, aggy.
  3. Funny thing is, Stoops was probably about as good of a hire as they were going to realistically get at this point in time. The fact that they lack sufficient self-awareness to see that makes this debacle all the more entertaining. They still think Saban is just going to kill himself if he doesn’t get a contract offer from them, and it’s pretty damn hilarious to watch as it unfolds.
  4. I live about a half hour from Durham. Durham used to be kind of ghetto, but it has undergone a significant amount of gentrification recently - much like Austin but on a much smaller scale. It's turning into a really nice place to live with a lot of hip, trendy restaurants and boutiques. It's also about three hours from the coast (OBX/Wilmington/Myrtle Beach) in one direction, or roughly the same from some decent ski resorts in the western NC mountains in the opposite direction. If I were given a choice between living in Durham or living in Collie Station, it would be a no-brainer. Durham all the way.
  5. Either Elko took one look at the clown show going on in Collie Station right now and said, "naaah, I'm good" - or the agroids already have their guy, and he is saving face. Probably the former.
  6. Just wait until he sees this: Or even this: https://player.vimeo.com/video/26529303?h=860d1335af
  7. To use a baseball analogy, aggy reminds me of the New York Mets or San Diego Padres of late. They spent a shit ton of money on big names with subpar results. They thought they could just outspend everyone else and buy a championship. But smart people will tell you it doesn't really work that way. Yes, you have to spend some money to bring in quality people, but there is also a process involved in building champions. You can't just bring in a collection of prima donnas and expect it to just magically work out. There has to be quality leadership, a scheme that yields results, and players that buy in to the process. That's the one thing that has impressed me so far with Sark's tenure. He seems to have a quality process in place to get Texas to where we all know it can be. Only time will tell if it pans out, but the trajectory is great so far. aggy has not come to this realization yet, much to our grand amusement. Not sure if they ever will.
  8. No kidding. I think Coach Prime is way overhyped, but he did just go 4-8 with nearly an entire roster he built via the portal after running off pretty much all of the old roster. It remains to be seen what Prime's ceiling is, but a program worth their shit would realize that a lot of holes in their roster could be filled with quality replacements from the portal. But luckily for us and our never-ending amusement, aggy is not a program worth their shit. They're going to be wishing for 7-5 next season after this shit show.
  9. Actually have seen rumors that Patterson might be headed to Albuquerque to take the New Mexico job. Oof...when you get spurned because New Mexico is a better job...that's just big oof.
  10. Plus, he doesn't have to live in Collie Station. Automatic win.
  11. "Every coach we want to hire is now shunning us after the Stoops debacle." Ho Lee Fuk.
  12. Knowing aggy, they'll probably photoshop him fucking a sheep and then fire him for cause, so he can't even draw unemployment.
  13. 100% this. As much as I hate OU, Castiglione is one of the best in the business. He knows where his bread is buttered, and he doesn't run the OU athletic department like amateur hour. He is probably THE reason OU is a perennial powerhouse, and he knows better than to do dumb shit to fuck it all up.
  14. Fucking hell, it's nights like this I almost wish I still had a Twitter account.
  15. Translation: "we're actually too poor to hire anyone else right now."
  16. If it does indeed turn out to be Fisch and Bjork tried to fuck it up, I could see the aggy BMD's firing his ass and leaving him on the tarmac, Lane Kiffin style. Or cancelling his travel cards and forcing him to hitchhike home from Lexington.
  17. It would be so completely on brand for aggy if, after all this, they offered Jimbo even MORE money to come back.
  18. Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit aggy misery...
  19. Jimbo's reaction when he heard the news that aggy fired him to hire Mark Stoops:
  20. Shit, I'd buy a boat, raise a pirate flag, and spend the rest of my days sailing around the Caribbean in honor of both the Pirate and Jimmy Buffett. And the University of Texas would get a shit ton of money when I die.
  21. I keep wanting to dismiss Looch as an idiot, but he's actually a hell of a con artist. He figured out long ago how to make a living spewing bullshit the aggy faithful. Grifting like that takes some talent. You have to respect the hustle.
  22. If it happens they will eventually mental gymnastic their way into him being the diamond in the rough coach only they were smart enough to identify. Stoopid sips are locked in with their ex-drunkie while aggy landed the latest in CFB coaching royalty. Lololololololol And then after another 4-5 years of going 7-5, they'll pay him metric fucktons of money to not coach so they can chase the next "coaching blueblood." "It's the circle of life..."
  23. Oh please do it. Please hire Mark Stoops. I may end up joining Longhorn Lawyer's ghost in the graveyard from ODing on aggy misery.
  24. Dabo would just be Jimbo II: Electric Boogaloo, but if aggy wants to go that route, by all means. Please proceed.
