It was the Jill Stein thread in "politics" that reminded me of this. So, here you go.
No talent. None. Horribad.

For the celebrities who got famous in some other arena, but felt they could sing and/or play.
To state the obvious: most of them sucked.

In one of these threads, someone had mentioned good Fleetwood Mac books, but I can't find the references now. Anyone know a good Fleetwood Mac bio?
Ken Caillat's "Making of Rumours" is worth a read. It's definitely not a comprehensive bio on the band, but a snapshot of the year or so they spent making that one album. Caillat (father of Colby) was one of the two engineers. It's partly about his own impressions of the band's relationships during the period, and partly the stories behind tracking each song.
Interested to check out that Beatles book.

Jill Stein pisses me off for a hundred reasons.
Smug, self-satisfied, and yet utterly devoid of talent.
That combo of personality traits is found across the political spectrum.

Saw Elton John stop in the middle of "Saturday Night's Alright" to scold a security guy, take away his flashlight, angrily shoo him out of the arena, and then walk back to the piano and start the song from the beginning.

My first Foo show. Enjoyed it a lot.
Good- high energy, fun show, Kiss guy was hilarious (staged or not) and the covers (Bowie, Ramones snippet) were entertaining as well.
Hawkins is a monster.
Nitpicks: Shiflett is underutilized. Couple of extended instrumentals where Grohl noodled way too long. I mean, a 7-minute extended jam, with Grohl fucking around for half of that? You've got a guy with exponentially more guitar skills standing a few feet away. For that matter, Rami Jaffee also underused.

i would not be surprised if that is how all republican congress thinks of trump. he's a cancer to their party.
I don't know, hayden. There has to be some % who know privately that Tillerson's characterization of his boss was right on the money. But I think there are a lot of "Freedom Caucus" zealots who have zero cognitive dissonance when they praise Trump for draining the swamp.

I'm not familiar with the author or the website, but at the end of the first paragraph he uses an apostrophe to make a plural of the word "reason."
So he's a fucking idiot who needs an editor. More specifically, he's an idiot writing a story about a hypocrite who thinks (correctly) that Trump is an idiot.

Maybe I saw a different show(?). The show I saw was Ben Folds with "Y Music" (I think that's what they were called), which was like three or four string players and three or four horns. Can't remember who opened.
-
This Ben Folds tune has an acoustic guitar army that comes in near the end.
I think it's brilliant. The arrangement, the idea of doing one of the most misogynistic songs of all time as a thoughtful songwriter ballad...
I ain't been out a second, and already I gots to do some motherfucking chin checkin'...

I saw them in concert a few years ago. Without Buckingham it wouldn't have been a very good show.
Yeah, the last time I saw them, I went with my wife, and she made the comment that it was basically an old folks’ home on the stage plus one rock star.
I gotta say, I’ve read a ton of Fleetwood Mac books and stories, and I’m not sure LB was a bigger a-hole than any other musical genius who wrote and produced some of the greatest albums in rock history, then found himself shuttled by limo from hotel suite to private jet to stadium gigs, all while surrounded by throngs of worshippers, armies of smoking hot women, and an endless river of cocaine.

Went to check out a wedding band tonight. Got a quote. I need to start a wedding band.
What if that band is like 30 dudes who met on a forum, unrehearsed, all on guitar?

I swear, about an hour ago something happened to me that made me think of that exact line and bit (which is genius).

Today I heard a Les Paul R8 for the first time. Sounded insanely good. Just the right amount of growl/volume/attack and a really nice top end.
Dammit.

Why would students protest this? Are disaffected loners going into schools and sucking their heads off with military-grade vacuum cleaners?

Forgot about Nimoy.
I suppose this thread not complete without Captain Kirk's overconfident buffoonery. The narcissism to think that the world needed him to "interpret" a song for us.... just wow.
