I've had Weber gas grills for years and years, but I never replaced the flavorizer bars on any of 'em.  Am I doing it wrong?

What caused you to replace yours?  Constant flareups?

rust. they pretty much fall apart and become dust.

  2. hotel vegas last night:

fifi knifefight- they were fine. standard rock, good energy from the lead singer.

pussy gillette- power trio. entertaining for a few songs but then you realize every song sounds the exact same. lead singer's schtick also got a bit tiresome.

night beats- he's got a new backing band again. bass player from amplified heat and i didn't recognize the drummer. they were a bit more sloppy, in a good way, than the last time i saw them. played a good mix of stuff from all the albums. he's one of my favorite guitarists, really love his phrasing.

  3. i've had my weber spirit for 20 years. replaced the flavorizer bars twice and replaced the cooking grate with cast iron. still works like a champ. if i could find a grill cover that lasts more than 1 summer that would be great.

Just don't be like my MIL, who is visiting us right now.  Every fucking store we go in, she feels the need to tell everyone she talks to that she's from Texas.  We can't figure out why she does that.

my texan grandmother always said, "never ask anyone where they're from, if they're from texas they'll tell you, and if they're not you don't want to embarass them."

every time i go to colorado i take every single piece of texas clothing i own, because fuck you i'm from texas.

  5. he was also one of the people in that rolling stone article after taylor hawkins' death who essentially blamed grohl for the rigorous touring schedule. he claimed he was misquoted but i doubt that gained him any good standing in the foo's camp. i think it's extremely unlikely he joins that band.

  6. yeah pretty sure they knew going into the tour that it would be his last. 27 years is a good run. i know lots of fans thought his style never fit the band that well, i don't completely agree with that but he's far from my favorite pj drummer.

  7. people who go out of their way to point out "i have such diverse taste in music" are insufferable. oh wow, you like rap AND jazz. incredible! it's called being a music fan. other than your aunt franny who only listens to polka, actual music fans listen to a whole array of music. i've never once found someone with a record collection that only contains one genre. these must be the same people who think the weather in their state is special "if you don't like the weather in (insert state) just wait 5 minutes and it will change!". no shit, that's what the weather does everywhere. /rant

I represented a guy that served on a rural fire department. He loved to hit the lights and sirens and speed to the fire, so he’d go out in the country, set fires, and then go back to town and conveniently be near the fire barn when the 911 calls came in. Finally got busted.

  10. they were only doing the trompo on weekends but lately i've seen it there all the time. i've had mostly good experiences there but a couple times the meat has been extremely dry.

  11. spent a few days on the beach at mustang island. was not crowded at all. beaches were clean the first couple days but quite a bit of seaweed and tar washed up on saturday. really hate getting the tar off dog paws. ate at black diamond oyster bar a couple of times and it was excellent. stopped at beach ball brewing and it was truly terrible.

Damn. I was really looking forward to watching it this weekend. I can’t think of another time an entire major festival was cancelled like this due to weather.

big dumb fest on saturday was fun, caught several good bands. bat lips shredded hard, the grasshopper lies heavy was a good san antonio band, gus baldwin and the sketch did their normal high energy set, rickshaw billies closed it out and had the crowd going nuts.

saw the tender things at hole in the wall yesterday. nice chill sunday afternoon set.
