I agree, and I think that it the main reason the flag was thrown.

That said, why the fuck was Maryland not called for a facemask when the defender ripped Sam's helmet off along the sideline? Grabbing any part of the helmet is considered a facemask, and it was quite clear that is what the defender did.

It sucked that wasn't called, and that the pass interference rules were completely different for Maryland than they were for us.

this is the problem more than GJ's targeting and ejection. Big 12 refs suck shit and lately we've been on the very short end of it.  that said well coached teams blow out a maryland squad by the 3rd quarter whereit does not matter that we have crappy refs.

Im ok with the penalty, not ok with ejection that can extend into the next game. If that same player gets flagged again for the same thing...then ejection is warranted.

I'm for intent being considered but for now my thought is that the "team" should get a free targeting with penalty but without ejection.  next targeting, that player gets ejected.

It was definitely a dirty play by today's definitions. The fact is, once the QB begins to slide, he is down. Hitting him after that is no different than hitting him if he was laying on the ground. The rule is to stop stupid plays exactly like this one.

they need to start marking the spot farther back to the point where he actually really starts to give himself up and where the ball actually is at that point. not where his feet are.

  4. @6:05 maybe the worst pass of all. perfect protection.  all he has to do is throw heard open to the far hash and it might be 6 and a game winner.  there is no safety to the far side.  he airmails it 10 yards over his and the defenders head on the near hash.

every high school QB can make that throw.

Charlie Strong was David McWilliams, while Tom Herman is John Mackovic.

As Texas fans we want every coach to succeed and we’re bitterly disappointed when they don’t.

But you know what makes it even worse?

    When they’re dicks about it.

Strong and McWilliams made crappy decisions and humiliated Texas football but at least you felt like their hearts were in the right place and they were just as heartbroken about it as the fanbase was.

Mackovic and Herman, on the otherhand, were/are both so fucking narcissistic they actually revel in their crappy decisions and inconsistent logic, disassociate from the humiliation to blame others, and treat the fanbase with contempt.

if you’re going to be an asshole like that, you really need to win quick and big because the patience of the insulted fanbase is gonna be worn paper thin.

It is particularly interesting how history is repeating itself.  the only thing we are missing so far is that Charlie didn't have his one "shock the nation" season.  Akers was pretty dame close to Mack except mack had the one NC. Akers had 2 shots at the NC.

  6. the purple wizard will have us down 14 in the first quarter at Manhattan per usual.

our defense looked poor most of the game and will very likely be worse than last year.  good news is that should shut down the idiotic Todd Orlando  HC sweepstakes. bad news is our offense isn't better to make up for it.  the only sure wins are Kansas, Tulsa and probably Baylor.  6 wins is the ceiling for bozo the clown and that is if we stay relatively healthy on the OL.

We arent the same team. We are worse than last year. Sure, we might win this game if we still had Dickson, or if we kept playing Ingram, or gave Buechele some snaps, but that wouldnt even make us mediocre. A Maryland shouldn't be within 3 TDs of Texas.

One positive is that the D was stout when needed at the end. They gave the ball right back to Sam 3 times and the O turned it over every time. 2 of them on complete shit passes. Ehlinger ain't the answer. Even on his completions, he overthrew and threw behind receivers.

he almost completely blew the first TD. it was a great catch by duvernay.  the one throw to CJ was great but he's not accurate, especially throwing to receivers on the move.

Holy fuck. Our starting QB thinks it's not even an option to throw the ball away or run on 3rd & 10 in the opponents territory with over a minute left. I'm being 100% serious here, there are junior high QB's that know better than that. Did Sam not hear/understand the question or something? What an incredible answer.

he has no situational awareness.  he's like all the aggy QB's we've made fun of over the years.  His lifelong dream has been to play QB for Texas so he's realized that.  time for us to move on unless Herman is going to decide to use him as a RB who can throw every once in a while.  if we need to come back throwing he needs to put Shane in.

He went out and stole the new softball coach (MIke White) from Oregon - that was a big time hire of a proven coach.  Maybe he can do the same here when we can Herman in about 15 months.

the track coach is also supposed to be a great hire.

I don't know what to think.....other than it's time for TH and the entire program to start playing like their hair is on fire.  You have to coach like there's nothing to lose, Herman.....start coaching like that.  Or you will be gone.  This is like playing golf and all you see is the OB, water, rough and sand.  You never see the green or the fairway.  Guess what?  That fucking ball is not heading where you want and your scorecard will have a ton of crooked numbers on it.  We are several touchdowns better than the terps if the team plays like it has nothing to lose.  Poor coaching.

I get your point but it really won't matter.  no one should be surprised by what happened yesterday.  Tom Herman lost to a crappy Tech team last year at home on senior night after an entire off season and 11 games.  He's a pitiful excuse for a big time coach.

he sticks with a QB who makes the same mistakes over and over again by having him throw when we don't need to.

He plays a running back who is markedly worse than the other 2 running backs.

His teams are constantly in the hole but it isn't that they aren't playing with their hair on fire , its because the coaches don't know what they are doing.

Tom will be here for 5 years. I’m on record as saying he’s not the guy but a coach should be given a chance to bring in his own QB and OL. He was handed a turd in that regard.

Tom made the same mistake Charlie did when he hired his staff. Lots of people pointed it out. Mensa believes he’s the smartest guy in the history of ever. It’s actually somewhat satisfying watching the smug prick have his ass handed to him by bad teams

your second paragraph is exactly why he shouldn't be given 5 years.

This is what I wrote earlier for therapeutic purposes.  I'm not sure how many of these things can (or will) be corrected.  Note:  I've never played organized football so if I'm completely off on any of these, it won't hurt my feelings to be corrected.

we are a dumb team and have been since Charlie.  Hiring Herman didn't change that unfortunately.  still dumb.

  13. It really sucks going into every game with a team that has a pulse hoping just once you'll be up by 10 after 8 minutes rather than being down by 10.  We play scared and completely unprepared.

Sadly this loss and the entire season is totally predictable because NO ONE in our athletic department knows how to hire a real football coach.  Herman can go back to HC mid major or be the OC at Florida/USC/etc and GTFO.

The same shit happened to Chuck in his last season. He really thought he had a good team. It is weird. I have no idea what is going on down there. I presume any competent college coach can split with Maryland and win 8 games at UT but clearly not. Something is wrong and I don't know what it is.

some of it is the QB and the OL but most of it is taking guys who are lightly proven as head coaches and are only really good at one side of the ball.
