I'll never forget that chilling moment during the 2017 Rose Bowl when Paterno's image came up on the video screen, and the PS fans went wild cheering....that is one messed up fanbase and culture.

They drive around up here with JVP (Joe Vincent Paterno) magnets on their cars. They drive around up here with Forever 409 (his victory total after the NCAA reinstated wins) magnets on their cars. I have even seen We Are, Because He Was as a magnet on cars.

They are a cult. The GodPaCult I like to say.

How disgusting (Penn State, not the movie). I don't know any PS people, but I can't fathom how they justify their support of Paterno and the PS staff who allowed this evil to persist for so long.

You don't want to know any of them. As I said on the other site. I have a neighbor who once said, after Sandusky broke, that Jerry quit coaching football to help kids.

    No lie, they are evil.

The Porsche museum has a few 911s that you can rent for a day, so here is my planned route.  It hits both the Lichtenstein and Hohenzollern castles, which are some of the best in the country, and mixes in a nice blend of the Autobahn and back roads.  Looking forward to this day more than anything out here.

Found this video of the 500. It's pretty cool. I've driven it, but this is not my video.

Way late on the reply here, but holy shit, Capel is one of the most prolific bag-droppers in CBB history. Huge pickup for Pitt. Capel comes in, drops some bags, gets the program on track again, and then leaves before the sanctions hit. The next coach is a decent one, since Capel's bag dropping has returned the team to relevance and the new staff gets to claim "we aren't responsible for the doings of the old staff". It's a solid plan.

I hope at least part of what you have predicted comes true.

    The original was obviously better.

Depp used to be much more entertaining before he basically became a Disney property.  Take off the makeup and I don't really think there is much difference between his body language in Willy Wonka, Sweeny todd, Pirates or when he plays the mad hatter.  He basically just plays himself on shrooms instead of a character.

that's pretty much where i am with this.

Is this really a question? I doubt even Johnny Depp's parents prefer that version.

It grossed $475m so it was a good idea as far as the studio is concerned.

Someone liked it then. That's sort of why I asked the question.

On the upper left of your map is Ettlingen. My German cousin lives there and I have been there many times. Just be careful with traffic at that intersection of Autobahn 5 and Autobahn 8. If there is an accident or something it is a wicked backup. Last October I was there and basically both highways were jammed for over three hours due to a big accident.

Are you going to give yourself any time to spend in Baden-Baden? It is a fantastic town.

Also looks like you are going to take 500 right past the Mummelsee. That's a nice little spot for lunch, and they have some neat little shops there. That road can have a shit ton of motorcycles on it so watch out for that.

Also, Rathaus, is down there, http://www.rothaus.de/en/our-beers/rothaus-pils-en/tannenzapfle?alter=true. It's right off the 500, just after you pass the Schluchsee

My daughter is studying over there this summer, and we looked for the cheapest deals.  Condor airlines is hard to beat.  We flew them last year, and it was fine.  No frills, economy class, but got us from Austin to Frankfurt direct just fine.  And something like $600 a head each way.

I've been to visit family in Germany over 20 times. In Pittsburgh we used to have a USAir direct flight to Frankfurt. That went away when USAir went away. Now we have Condor, direct to Frankfurt. It's nice in that you can bypass the east coast airports, Philly, JFK, LaGuardia, Newark, etc. Business Class roundtrip was under $2,000 on Condor. The same dates on Lufthansa had it at $5,000 and you had to connect on the coast.

If you must connect look at Condor out of Pittsburgh. The first day of the seasonal service is, I think May 18. That's the day I fly over.

I saw Fat Elvis near his death (about 1 1/2 yrs, before he croaked) and pretty much this, especially with the women.  I got 10th row seats through someone who gave them to my mom, who didn't want to go.  So my friend, who ironically did a great Elvis impersonation (like, formally, got paid and stuff) and I went (I was his pianist), we were I think about 18.  I will fucking tell you right now when that 2001 theme played and the lights finally splashed on Elvis, all around us women of ALL fucking ages, even in their 80's, were going so absolutely batshit apeshit frantically screamingly nuts crazy that I thought I was in another universe.  You have NEVER seen women, especially old ones, move like Walter Payton through the entire defense.  They were jumping on chairs, on each other, on me, I mean they lost their fucking minds.

The other stuff I remember clearly is that 1) Elvis was great, self-depreciating, 2) everyone and everything on stage was completely in his control, and he was a master at knowing everything - the band, the backups, everything.  Guy was a master presenter. 3) Elvis LOVED the gospel part of his concerts and he LOVED the gospel quartet he had, and when he sang that stuff he transformed from doing almost mocking self-parodies of some of his hits (you can imagine he was sorta sick of 'em after 30 years) to putting everything he had into the gospel songs and he did.  And his voice singing that stuff was absolutely fucking magnificent... this bloated, jaundiced, sweaty fat guy in a white suit belted out those tunes so powerfully, crack on key, and beautifully, THAT'S when I knew the guy had a talent far, far greater than most people.  Man did he enjoy those songs and his voice thundered out like nothing I ever saw.

It was pretty amazing.  Oh yeah, all around me women were throwing panties, bras, keys, everything.  I mean they would have fucking died of excitement if he would have picked them up.  Oh yeah, one last thing... Elvis had a guy who did nothing but hand him bandana/neckerchief after bandana/neckerchief.  Elvis took one, swiped it around his neck, then threw it out to the crowd and I swear that an arena of pit bulls looks tame compared to the frenzy.

You have no idea how driven to an excited batshit level of frenetic crazy love pains women can be driven to.  I never saw anything like that before or since.  As in ever.

What always amazes me is that Elvis was what, 42-years old when he died. To be that out of shape and to basically kill yourself when you have everything in the world, is beyond me. I reckon the same can be said, in a way, for Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Curt Cobain, the dude from INXS, etc, etc, etc.

  9. One more reason Jay Wright probably won't ever leave Villanova is that since the Big East Split he has owned the East Coast recruiting from the Mid-Atlantic north. Only one player for Villanova is from west of the Alleghenies, that's Spellman, and he's from Cleveland.
