  1. We are getting close to the point where if you get harmed by Covid, its nobody's fault but your own.
  2. Isn't that viewing the US in a bit of a vacuum? As we all know, the rest of the world is much further behind in vaccinations and it will probably be that way for a long while. They will also have large portions that do not get the vaccine. If these mutations are going to continue to happen, I would imagine it will continue to happen overseas whether we reach 100% here or not.
  3. And those 30% will have made a poor decision that affects them (or other people who have made a similar poor decision). I don't have a lot of sympathy. But 99.99% will have the the option make a decision.
  4. Right now we have minor debates about how to handle the vaccine. Rewards for getting it? Punishment for not? Vaccine passports? Facebook craziness, terrible messaging, etc. The child vaccination debate is going to be WWIII in this country as we get closer to the school year.
  5. I think you'd have to see one of these variants actually be dangerous for kids for parents to have any motivation.
  6. Time to get the Pussy Posse back together.
  7. Nothing. I think they should. But, like everyone these days, they profit from the divide.
  8. I agree. And have stated many times the best approach is to sell life returning to normal, but that seems so hard for some. Also - and this is going to really annoy some - but if people really wanted to reach a certain segment of the population, they would hail this vaccine publicly as a huge Trump accomplishment. I don't know exactly how, and egos would have to be impossibly set aside, but in fairytale land wouldn't it be great if Biden could enlist Trump to go on a roadshow encouraging his base to get the vaccine that he expedited and has taken himself? That will never happen because Trump would stab Biden in the back the whole way and Biden would never want to act like he needed Trump's help, but if we could find a way somehow get in the ballpark of that happening. Maybe Pence. Or the Biden administration giving the Trump administration some kudos for Operation Warp Speed. Something to make it not such a political divide.
  9. Maybe not network, but I do think there is still a market for feel good, light hearted comedies, thus why Ted Lasso was such a hit. Seems like (to me) it’s a niche the streaming services haven’t cared about.
  10. You think he’s wearing a mask to convince those who aren’t wearing a mask(the simple rubes) to wear one? I’m sorry, but that isn’t going to work on a single simple rube who hasn’t worn a mask for the past 14 months. But what might work is for them to see a 78 year old man who is fully vaccinated return to normal life. Or at least return to the part of life the CDC says is ok. “Hey, it’s just a shot, and the POTUS took it and now he doesn’t worry about Covid.” Or it can be “Hey, look the POTUS got the shot and he’s still scared of Covid. Wonder what the CDC is telling him that they aren’t telling us? Why would I go get a shot that my my rube friends tell me is dangerous if isn’t even going to allow me to get back to normal?”
  11. Sure it does. The CDC says he doesn’t need to and he evidently feels he does.
  12. It implies that the most most public figure in the country doesn’t trust the vaccine to work. At a time when the most important thing is convincing the public to take the vaccine because it works.
  13. This is the state that was making high school track athletes wear masks during races. Until an athlete collapsed from a lack of oxygen. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.oregonlive.com/highschoolsports/2021/04/mask-rules-revised-for-oregon-high-school-runners-other-noncontact-outdoor-sports.html%3foutputType=amp
  14. What I'm talking about is not shaming, its actual government ordinances. I've said many times I don't GAF what someone does. If I saw someone 5 years ago, or 5 years from now, wearing a mask, I wouldn't GAF. You do you. But don't force your shit on me. I've played by the rules. I've been courteous. I got fully vaxxed at the very first opportunity I had. Don't expect me to keep doing unreasonable practices just because "how hard is it, really?" I think a year ago, everyone would've said "of course none of this is going to be permanent. This is just a serious pandemic." But now you start to get "so what if its permanent or longer lasting than necessary? How hard is it really?"
  15. Of course we can all "take it." I've had no problem wearing one for a while. I probably throw one on 3-4 times a day. Wore it into the bank at lunch. About to wear one walking into the gym later this afternoon. I will wear one to my haircut tomorrow. Will wear one to coach again tonight. I'm not an anti masker. I choose to do things for safety and for the comfort of others. I have not fought wearing a mask or tried to find any workaround. But you reach the stage where you know its ridiculous, and you feel like people are telling you what to do so they can make a statement. And I wonder how long that will go on. I don't think the standard for allowing people to unreasonably tell you what to do should be "how hard is it for you to just do what I'm telling you to do?"
  16. I've been fully vaxxed for weeks. I coached an 8 year old baseball game (obviously outdoors) last night in a mask because I live in a blue city in a red state. Politics and stupid CDC recommendations. There's zero doubt its a control thing with some. No, my life didn't end. But yes, it is stupid and has sucked ass. I definitely wrung my hands over it.
  17. https://www.mlive.com/public-interest/2021/04/michigan-expands-mask-requirement-to-children-ages-2-to-4-extends-gathering-limits.html
  18. If you're fully vaxxed, do what you want. if you want to keep wearing a mask, I don't GAF. But don't try and force that on me.
