  1. I’ll take “Things I don’t expect to hear from a BYU fan” for $1000, Alec.
  2. This is pretty damn significant. This isn’t WSU or OSU or even ASU we’re talking about. This is UDUB taking a big ass hit to their athletic budget. I don’t see the PacX surviving if this is happening at UDUB and other schools.
  3. The Pac 10 isn't going to risk further bad PR and possibly losing impatient members to appease SDSU with a convenient excuse as to why they aren't invited to join.
  4. The PAC 10 TV Deal has been two weeks away for the past 8 months:
  5. Did I stumble into the Cloak Room by accident?
  6. You guys are slipping. The obvious answer is the Kraft Monterrey Jack Cheese Bowl.
  7. Yeah, that's on par with that WVU twitter fan m'ver (or whatever his name is).
  8. That line of thinking just blows my mind. Maybe being in the PAC got them the nomination/sponsorship from a PAC AAU school and the votes from other PAC AAU schools, but the way the AAU works is you have to have the research dollars first to even qualify to be nominated. Joining an athletic conference does not provide a mechanism to increase your research dollars. And I seriously doubt Cal, Stanford, or one of the other AAU PAC schools gave a shit that Utah was in their athletic conference when it came time for AAU consideration. Maybe I'm wrong, but it just seems the AAU thing is only related to athletic conference alignment if you have it to begin with.
  9. And I love that you left out UU in that. I didn't know or think much about Utah before all this happened, but I have grown to dislike their fanbase quite a bit the past few months. They appear to be more delusional and arrogant than aggy...and that's saying something.
  10. This makes so much sense, and there is not one logical reason why it should not be this way. However, there is one illogical reason, and unfortunately it trumps everything....EGO. Too many egos in college football to ever allow this structure to happen.
  11. Fuck the fans. Fuck the old rivalries. Fuck college football. NFL Light!
  12. I let my Rivals sub die on the vine probably 6-7+ years ago (about the time Aaron starting to get a big head and think he was the BMOC...the place started to suck when Robert G. left, but when Aaron decided he was a demi-god about all things RRS, I had had enough). This, however, may entice me to sign back up.
  13. LOL...sorry to disappoint, but she decided she had her own "major" event this week, and was in Miami instead.
  14. And the sad thing is, we have posters right here at Surly who welcome this new paradigm. They want NFL 2.0, or NFL Minor League, or NFL Light....whatever you want to call it. Just another example of people not understanding their brand and their market position. College football was unique from the NFL, and it was that uniqueness that appealed to so many. Yet, it is that uniqueness that people are wanting to eliminate in favor of a 32 team super league (maybe, just maybe, if they would expand it to 64 teams they can retain some of what people love about college football, but I'm doubtful they will and even at 64 it may still be such a change that the uniqueness of college football will still be lost). A lot of that college atmosphere that people loved has already been eliminated via mega jumbotrons, less band playing in favor of more canned music through the jumbtron, advertising in the stadium everytime the clock stops, etc.
  15. I think so. He’s not an amateur and he made the cut. Give the man his money. in addition, if he finishes in top 15 he’s an automatic qualifier for next year.
  16. The Michael Block storyline and the harder-than-US Open conditions has made this the most entertaining PGA Championship that I can remember. Wasn’t it just a few years ago we were mocking the PGA Championship for the ridiculously easy course setups?
