  1. I would argue that Kliavkoff is actually worse. I think Scott was a realist and actually had somewhat of a vision. I think the presidents and the networks undercut him, and once the writing was on the wall and he realized he couldn't accomplish a damn thing, he said, "Fuck it" and decided to milk them for whatever they were willing to give him. Kliavkoff, on the other hand, is both dumb and ineffective. I'm sure the former is the reason for the latter.
  2. They don't want a failed Pac 10? But isn't that what is exactly playing out now? Explain it me like I'm five....I am a Tech grad after all.
  3. I think Colorado, Nebraska, and even Missouri to some extent are all examples of what happens to your programs when you no longer are playing multiple Texas teams every year, and having at least one game in Texas. It's not just physically not having a game in the state, but you are not on the nightly local newscasts in Texas anymore because you aren't playing the Texas college teams. Nebraska and Colorado got absolutely decimated on the talent front once they left the Big 12. Missouri has faired a little better, but not like before when they had a roster full of Texans.
  4. I don't think Utah brings much to the table. They don't have a national following, and the Big 12 already has BYU. Utah looks good right now because they've recently dominated the Pac in football. But other than that, what do they bring? Arizona hasn't been good in football for an eternity, but they are the flagship university of a state that the Big 12 is not in currently. And they are a basketball power. I say if it can be done, and granted it's a huge ass if, the Big 12 should get Oregon, Udub, and Arizona and call it done. Then at the end of the day they will have brought in 4 flagship universities in states they weren't in before. Two are current football powers, one has shown a remarkable commitment to its football program over the past year, and one who brings a basketball pedigree unrivaled by the rest in the Pac 12 not named UCLA.
  5. Because it's not chili. It's slop.
  6. I believe it is 4pm Central, 3pm Mountain.
  7. An alliance! It worked so well the last time! I think the only way the ACC could do anything at this point would be to dissolve the conference outright, and then merge with the Pac 10 (or they both dissolve and merge to form a new conference). Honestly, that would be the only way either one could try to outflank the Big 12 for the undisputed #3 spot.
  8. Can someone tell me how to put him on ignore? EDIT: Nevermind...figured it out.
  9. "This was a great opportunity for us. SDSU and SMU really elevate our conference to a whole new level and improve us cumulatively than what we were before the defections."
  10. And this is why I have zero sympathy for any school left behind. They had a chance to prevent all of this. Unless the Commish and the Exec Committee have the ability to exercise extreme authority over all things, there was no reason why the schools couldn't come together and identify the need to merge. But their arrogance and ego blinded them to reality.
  11. You are 99% correct. The first object the Big 12 found was cutting in front of the Pac12 to do a TV deal (that was the ax to the foot of the PAC12). The Colorado deal is picking up the sword and stabbing them with it while they are still looking at their wounded foot with an ax in it. The next school that jumps will be the Big 12 taking that sword and slicing off the Pac12's head with it.
  12. Which stage of grief is the denial stage? Because that’s where Denny is at currently.
  13. This is quintessential aggy. Be thankful you don't live here. We have to live and interact with these people.
  14. I still get the schadenfreude thinking about how that all worked out... "But, but...we had an alliance! AN ALLIANCE!!"
  15. They were squeezing their nuts hoping the SEC would change their mind.
  16. Pretty similar to what ESPN and Fox did last year when the Pac decided to roll the dice and take it to market.
  17. It's an interesting thing to watch play out. I think Cal and Stanford are leaning to just being the West Coast version of the Ivy League, and CU is having an identity crisis on that front because they want to be in a Cal-Stanford Ivy League but at the same time they aren't willing to throw in the towel on the money sports. UU is delusional in thinking they can have both. Oregon and Udub just want to bide their time until a Big 10 invite comes along. ASU has a bit of CU identity crisis happening, but to a lesser degree. I honestly think Arizona knows what's best but is hesitant to make the move, and OSU and WSU are just praying it stays together because they literally have no other options other than to be relegated to G5. I never thought I would see the day where there was a more dysfunctional athletic conference than that of the Big 12 back when Beebe was in charge, but here we are.
