We were in the cheap seats at the top of the stadium amongst TCU assholes, so there’s a chance the bowl wasn’t capturing the crowd noise, but it seemed like the Texas fans were dead. But like many of you, the sound system was still extra loud. I don’t recall any TEXAS/FIGHT chants, but I was in the pisser in between third and fourth quarters. Yes, security was non-existent at our gate.

I’m not sure I’ve ever done a worse job predicting a situation: I expected the crowd to be the most jacked up it’s been in years, even surpassing a bad ass effort vs. Alabama, and I expected the team to beat the shit out of TCU. Wrong on both counts (though the defense deserves praise save for two massive fuckups).

Yup all of this except I was in the lower bowl and it was dead there too. I thought for sure the crowd would be as good or better than Bama and was also predicting a double digit win. There was one TEXAS-FIGHT at the beginning of the game and that was the only one.

First timers have to use the Porta potties together.

I thought that was a Port A beach thing.

Downtown Austin is wound up. Just got in from dinner and then a few beers at Lavaca. TCU fan tried to buy me a beer so I took it and poured it out in the trash can while he watched. Atmosphere tomorrow is going to be amazing. See ya at the tailgate.

No they can just have it for free.  Pretty nice offer actually considering i can meet said person on way outta game area and they can literally drive up next to stadium.  Not ideal for everybody, I get it.  But some people with little kids or older folks in tow appreciate parking within 50 feet of the stadium right before kickoff.  Kinda cool to just roll up to the door as the cannon fires.  Weird concept, I know.

You yourself can have it man.  Whatever it takes to get to stop bitchin.  Just drop it by the house on your way outta town sir

I’ve got 2 parking passes for Manor garage next to the stadium but thanks anyway. Buy/free whatever I agree it’s a nice offer. I’m still trying to figure out the logistics of this thing. You can’t just stop your car anywhere near the tailgate and jump out while the people in your car wait. At 6 they would already have to be parked somewhere. I guess maybe someone from the tailgate could run it out to 26th/Keeton and do a handoff as they come by.

I'm gonna post this so I can read shadow_operative2.0 post shit about me on other threads.  But if anyone needs a close-in pass and can wait until 6:00p, I can hand off mine to you when i take the kids home after pre-game festivities.  Can meet you at tailgate.  Gotta get it back the next day though.  But you can literally park all the way up at stadium, they'll make a spot for you at valet or otherwise.

So you want someone to park and then walk to the tailgate to meet you at 6 p.m. so they can buy your pass only to walk back to their car to move it closer to the stadium?

Any update on the Panamerican Hwy issue?  Still fucked until December?  I'm getting an itch to get down there.

Seems to be hit and miss depending on the day and time or of course more rain. Some friends drove it last week and it was fine. I’d fly to be on the safe side.

edit- apparently they never totally shut it down which they probably should have to avoid more problems in the future.

Alright bitches, Rollcall. This thread is too fucking dead mid week before the biggest game of the rest of the season. Whos gonna be there? Where are my surly tailgaters

I’ll be there. Can’t fucking wait. I expect a beat down like we witnessed at Lavaca for the OU game.

The rebounding was definitely underwhelming. But it was fun. Like to see us moving up tempo and being aggressive.

Last year I think our rebounding margin was 0, so we weren’t very good either and somewhere in the middle of the pack for all D1 teams. We are more athletic this year and the players we lost shouldn’t matter so I would think it will get a little better.

Also I’m  just going to throw this out of my ass but we force a lot of bad shots which tend to lead to strange long bounces, and we definitely don’t crash the offensive glass preferring to get back in defensive position. I may be completely wrong but I don’t think you’ll ever see a Beard team be dominant on the boards.

Your passion as an anti Cunningham guy is refreshing to me, lol. I like the guy, but I don't want to see him getting huge minutes. But now I can't help but think of you every time he's out there, whether he's making a good play or a bad one. I know there are a lot of people who don't like any critical remarks about our players, but I'm not one of them. I don't even have to agree with them. I like people who have strong opinions and show a bit of aggression. I heartily approve this personal Cunningham campaign, even if I'm not wholly on board with it.

You know the next game is basically an homage to Cunningham's jort obsession, right?

Ha. I don’t dislike the guy I’m just of the school of thought that you are taking off the court a more talented player when you put him in. I mean we put him in less than 4 minutes into the game. I about broke my tv. Yes, he “hustles”. He also gets lost on defense at times and he’s really small for where we are trying to play him. I don’t think the 47% 3 point percentage or whatever it was will repeat and I definitely don’t think it will carry over if he plays more than about 7 minutes a game. None of this is his fault. Hope he proves me wrong though because it looks like Perryman isn’t the answer for our knockdown 3 point shooter either.

I thought the same thing. I could also see minutes being drastically different game by game based solely on the tempo Beard wants to go with.

My biggest concern is still bigs. A quality team with a good big could be our kryptonite. I don’t think we have an answer for that; at least I didn’t see one tonight.

    Good first win. Hook’em.

Inside we are exactly the same team we were last year, only Disu is healthy. It’s not ideal but assuming we don’t run into a Purdue again it’s not really that big a deal. I threw it out earlier during the game, but later in the year I’d love to see Hunter, Morris, Allen, Mitchell, Disu.

When Beard promoted Donewald to the assistant coach position, we hired Steve McClain after he had been fired from Georgia as an assistant to Tom Crean. His resume is complete and utterly unimpressive to me, especially compared to Donewald, but he does have a ton of experience. Last year's season at Georgia was a dumpster fire, which is why Crean was fired, of course.

There are some people that really like that hire. I’m with you I’m not sure why, but it was definitely a thing. Maybe he’s got a hot wife or a cool ranch or something.
