  1. Beginner trying to get into some woodworking here. I've decided to make my first "big" project a desk for the wife. I have a design and plan in mind and am shopping out the supplies. First question, what is "common board" that you see in the specialty woods section of big box stores? Also, what wood would you consider in making a (this) desk? 2. So can any educate me on what MBS is?
  3. Ha! That picture is making it around our hood too. Good stuff.
  4. Sloppy drunk? Then I endorse this message
  5. That is the thickest damn cut I've ever seen
  6. I have an interesting problem I've encountered while attempting to obtain the title of the my wife's vehicle. The vehicle is paid, free and clear. When I asked about the bank mailing us the title, they said that Texas was an electronic title state and that we would have to obtain it from the Texas DMV. This presents a few problems. First, if we apply for the title in person, will we be physically leaving the DMV with it or will they be mailing it to us? Two, there is a 30 day waiting period to apply for a second title. Does this mean the new owner can't transfer the title into their name until after 30 days? Is there an easier way to do this title transfer?
  7. That hail 2 weeks ago got you too, eh? There's various recs going around my hood but I haven't used anyone yet. I'll pass them along if you want. All these damn roofers won't get off my lawn tho.
  8. I have the Chicago Electric one from Harbor Freight. While it's not as snazzy as the CG stuff (way overpriced), it gets the job done albeit just a little bit noisier.
  9. Still a few questions from this post that you haven't answered. Also, what is the kill fee ($ amount)? I really am quite interested if it can be priced out properly? Also, what different cuts will it come with?
  10. If you're buying a certified pre-owned vehicle, would you pay to have a separate mechanic inspect it? How can I find out what fees/add-ons are required at closing?
  11. Interesting. I've seen that place but haven't been by yet. I'll have to check it out. Also, I'm surprised Hutchins doesn't get more love from the Dallas bbq scene.
  12. Sorry. Super thin, under half inch.
  13. I'd be careful putting your poultry on top and letting it drip on non-poultry below. Could end up getting some bad juju on the lower meats.
  14. It's something I might be interested in. A nurse and a rep I know in McKinney split a half grass-fed cow but I think they're paying roughly $4/pound or so (I could be wrong). My main issue with their product was that the steak was cut super thing. Ain't about that.
  15. Prosper checking in here. Am I going to get smoked with egg-sized hail like I did last week?
  16. 1. Who is Rachel Cooke? 2. There is seriously a person named Chody?
  17. Waiting to complete the transaction. His son had to secure financing and I'm still waiting on the title to arrive in the mail.
  18. The former has the same guarantee
  19. 150 miles
  20. I just upgraded from a Lawn Boy to a Honda and holy shit it's the tits. Highly recommend
  21. Preowned but the only problem is that I haven't found a good private option online for a 2016-18 Toyota Avalon sub 20K miles (what we're looking at). I did consider the Carvana option but there hasn't been a spectacular deal there either. My problem is, what is "reasonable"? Asking for 5%, 10, 15? Also, is asking for an "invoice" only for brand new vehicles?
  22. As you probably already saw, I'm selling a car and, practically, need to buy another. I'm using the strategy of trying to contact them online and negotiate a price. Holy hell is that even a beating. So far, I've run across a half dozen or more of the dealers "fluffing up" the trim level to make it look like a great price and only when you try to do your due diligence do you find out it's at a lower trim level, but for the same price. What are your go-to methods in dealing with these fuckheads? How else do you perform your due diligence on the car other than KBB, Edmunds, CarFax, etc?
  23. Ah, I gotcha. I did not sign anything. He wrote a deposit (noted in memo line) that I cashed. I will draw up the paperwork and make a bill of sale.
  24. One follow-up question. This is my wife's car, can I have her just sign the title beforehand and not attend the transaction at the bank or does she need to be present?
  25. What do you mean? Thank you all for the guidance and resources.
