  1. I hope LJH and/or Heard got a couple. Either of those dudes can run or pass in a tricky play situation.
  2. I think the contract extension actually reduced his buyout even as it increased his theoretical term under the contract. I think it was mostly for appearances, to convince potential recruits that the coaching situation was stable.
  3. I see no reason that Navy should ever wear anything but these or a "dress blues" equivalent with the same helmet and pants for home games. e: like this but as a football uniform:
  4. lol are you serious
  5. You're on your own as far as how to bring down a beastly running back with a head of steam, but you can't get a targeting penalty in that situation as long as you keep your facemask pointed where you're going instead of dropping your head and leading with the crown.
  6. If the draw is watching great players, amateur sports may not be for you
  7. Even assuming we have Sam and he's somewhere close to 100%, with no other major losses to injury, WVU and ISU are not looking like easy outs at all. Plus it's college football so inexplicable losses just happen.
  8. Hey now Genki Sudo and WORLD ORDER are awesome, I will not sit idly by as a high quality street theater dance troupe led by a retired MMA fighter is besmirched
  9. I don't think Shane is that good at making the 5-10 yard throws in tight-ish windows that Sam does pretty well, which is a problem in this offense. He used to be able to drop deep balls on a dime and I doubt he has permanently lost that ability. Frankly I think the strategy yesterday was pretty much right on for making the best of his skillset and the pieces we have around him - hand it off a lot to sustain drives and force them to defend the run, then look for big home-run shots downfield every so often and hope that one out of every X attempts nets us a big play or a score. Although I think we could probably run him more too (I know we did it some, but still). After all, Tom Herman's most celebrated accomplishment was a season spent murdering QBs and just plugging another one in to do the same thing whenever one went down. I guess maybe we did see LJH did get a couple of auditions for that Greg Ward/Braxton Miller WR/QB role.
  10. The red and the blue on the field together looks so awesome in that game. It seems like if the home team approves whatever the other team wants to wear, they should be allowed to wear it. Texas in orange and white against Tech in black and red or Baylor in green and gold wouldn't be confusing at all. Obviously you wouldn't want both sides wearing home jerseys in a Bama-Arky game, but it seems like common sense could prevail.
  11. Oh also expand the playoff to 8, with autobids for P5 champions and the top G5 team plus 2 at-large spots. Easy. I swear college football has to be the only sport where so many people actively root against underdogs and hate the idea of cinderella teams being allowed to crash the party.
  12. I would be excited about watching Texas beat OU in a fucking sinkhole that opened up under a garbage dump. Nobody's talking about moving the annual game to Jerryworld, There's no need to choose between the two. Beating OU twice is better than beating OU once.
  13. If you can't get excited at the prospect of going back to Dallas and beating OU again it's hard for me to accept the premise that you are a fan of Texas or even college football.
  14. I swear to god I saw the thread title and clicked to say that I have it on good authority that he is a terrible/negligent dog owner. I assumed that was not going to be the subject of the thread.
  15. I don't see it. If they had edged us out by a field goal after we mounted an epic comeback, then we fired our hypothetical terrible DC and made it all the way to the CCG, I'd be thrilled to get another shot at them.
  16. I typed SECCG when I meant B12CG. That's it.
  17. I will be disappointed but not very surprised to see us lose basically any game left on the schedule outside of Kansas. I'm not convinced we've broken the habit of playing to our competition, and as happy as I am with what I see at the moment, Tom Herman has some history of dropping random games. In 2015 he went 13-1 culminating in a defeat of FSU at the Peach Bowl, but the loss was to UConn. In 2016 he started out with a win over an OU team that would finish #5 even with that loss. Then he got clobbered by friggin SMU. SMU!! Mind you, if we lose two more games in the regular season and win a bowl game, that's still our best season since Colt and an obvious huge step forward from where we've been. 10 wins! Can you even imagine?
  18. Yeah but imagine somehow tOSU, Clemson, Colorado, WVU, Georgia and ND all finish undefeated with Bama taking their one loss in the SECCG. I think that might be tipping point that destroys any semblance of legitimacy to the playoff champion and gets us a playoff expansion, much in the way the LSU-Bama rematch killed the BCS. Bonus chaos points if one or more of the left-out undefeated teams dominates in their NY6 bowl and claims a championship.
  19. OMG I'm an idiot. B12CG. But point stands, finishing a 13-1 season with back-to-back wins over OU and aggy would be fucking epic.
  20. How would that not happen if OU and Texas both win out?
  21. I have no idea what's going to happen, but I think there's still a theoretical possibility of Texas beating OU in Dallas again in the SECCG and then beating aggy in the Sugar Bowl. It won't happen though, which might be for the best because I would probably die laughing.
  22. Tim Becc is bae (?)
  23. It's a real shame that this beer suks or I would buy it every year
  24. Yeah we've been playing "Neck" for a while now. But pretty sure LSU has banned it because the student section liked to participate.
  25. Teach me, o learned one
