Except when he ignored Afghanistan after the Russians left and allowed the Taliban to take over in the first place. And when he didn’t extend the flight ban in Iraq to include helicopters and so Saddam Hussein used them to destroy the Iraqis who tried to heed Bush’s call to take matters into their own hands. They got slaughtered. Thanks, George.
But I mean, Baker's handling of the fall of the wall was pretty spectacular.
I take your points.
But the complete shit storm that COULD have happened after the wall fell and after the collapse of the Soviet Union, is a major triumph of his administration.
Europe could have imploded.
It didn't.
Maybe it's actually just a happy accident.
Who knows.

I like how this is Bush’s war that Trump promised to exit but didn’t and it’s Joe Biden’s fault for doing it wrong.
Never underestimate the ability of Fox News to rewrite reality.
Afghanistan is the shining example of the sunk cost fallacy.
Without turning to Iraq, W could probably 'won' Afghanistan and put in a government corrupt as the dickens but in control
Without the insurgency of Iraq, we'd probably have left Afghanistan during Barrack's term and not try to do the same strategy / nation building in Afghanistan.
We should have left over 10 years ago.
Fuck W and his terrible choices.
Fuck Democrats for trying to clean up Repubs mess.
Fuck Repubs for always blundering forgein policy.... save George H.W. He had his shit together. The Cold War could have ended way worse. HE should get credit.

Abbott sees this as a fight against librools. Perry would see this as a chance to show leadership and gain publicity.not deliberately try and shit all over the state and put other Republicans on the defensive. He would be visiting schools, visiting hospitals, showing empathy/sympathy, etc. Motherfucker could shake hands, slap backs, and get chummy with folks.
Perry would say "this is why you should vote for me, we are in a pandemic and I'm showing leadership!" while Abbott is spinning in circles yelling "this is why you shouldn't vote for me."
As much as I shit on him, and as many times as his aggyness shined through, he had his weird-as-fuck moments - I remember when Perry and Vincente Fox were pushing for open borders and a shared medical and education system along the Texas/Mexico border in the summer of 2001 (and then 9/11 happened...). Also when he teamed up with George W. Bush, Ted Kennedy, John McCain back around 2006 for a guest worker system proposal, etc.
The fear of Huffines that Abbot has is fucking weird. Abbott is blowing him away in fundraising and publicity.
You're thinking too small.
Abbott is displaying Presidential idiocy and cruelty on a MAGA scale with his moves.
He knows he has Texas in the bag. This is for 2024.
He's going for the big ole shiny brass ring on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Agreed. They could have gone from a position of having the SEC typically have two teams, or 50% of the spots, in the playoff, to a position where at most the SEC would get four spots and they would be guaranteed a spot themselves. They've let their emotions (panic, outrage, disappointment) override their common sense. But if humans didn't act with their feelings, even sometimes to their detriment, I guess we wouldn't be human would we?

So long as you are committing academic fraud and covering up sexual assaults for other students you can just fraud and sexual assault away? So long as boosters just randomly give a bag of cash to a non-athlete from time to time it's all good eh? If only SMU had known that.

This whole thing was goofy from the beginning, and now it’s pretty wild. Rip ASU athletics lol
Hell of a time to fuck up.
On one hand, the NCAA seems as impotent as a eunuch after prostate surgery.
On the other hand, conference realignment musical chairs is starting and no one wants to take a school racked w/ scandal.
Let's see if the NCAA has one more punishment wad to shoot. If so, ASU could be fucked for eternity.

Oregon State has a legit Top 3 College of Forestry. That's a pretty big difference.
A top tree school should be just fine with coniferous realignment.

Given the increases in property values, the passage of every bond vote presented to the public, all of the money spent on homelessness and now the new light rail plan, I would say that the "Austin Bills" is very apropos
Not to mention it's the capital of Texas with the capitol.... which seats the leg that writes bills!

I don't disagree with the reasoning but the SEC sure as hell isn't about to treat Texas or OU like one of the biggest names in the conference all of a sudden. We're going to be shoe-horned into whatever pod or division best suits the legacy schools.
Texas and OU aren't going to join this league only to take a backseat to anyone.
We will get what we want.

San Antonio could easily support a MLB team better than several current franchises. The Rays and the A’s draw next to nothing for attendance even when they’re really good and they play in shit stadiums.
Austin is probably a better pro sports market than SA now, though. They both have enough population, and Austin has more money. The main counter argument I see is Austin having more people who won’t care about pro sports (like in California) while San Antonio would have a rabid fan base. But ultimately tech money and corporate sponsorships would probably win out.
The Bills really should move somewhere, whether it’s Texas or not. Buffalo is dead even compared to other rust belt industrial cities. It makes Cleveland look like Los Angeles.
This.
In regards to your point about Buffalo being dead, wouldn't the smart move just be to move Buffalo to Toronto?
I mean, doesn't Buffalo's TV market already cover Toronto?
They already play a game or 2 there a season and its only 100 miles away.
Canada gets an NFL franchise.
That seems to be a no brainer IMO.
Edit:
Realized that Buffalo doesn't play in Toronto every year. They did for like 6 seasons in the late 2000's early 2010's.
Oh well.
Still think they could hold onto Buffalo's media market and add a lot of value to the franchise if they move to Toronto.

Both Israel and Gibraltar vaccinated early and the Delta data from there seems to suggest the breakthroughs are mostly occurring in people between 4-6+ months after vaccination. Mostly.
There's a bunch of caveats, this is predominantly older people and immunocompromised folks etc, so if anything, it should skew as losing effectiveness slightly earlier than we'll see in a normal population.
The Israeli data looks bad, the UK data looks good. One big difference between them was time, Israel vaccinated earlier and there are many more people at the 4-6+ month mark than in the UK.
Personally, I'd feel reasonably comfortable that I still had good protection from Delta via the vaccine two months after dose 2, especially if it was Moderna. I'd still mask up to keep viral load exposures low though. Valved N95s are back in stock and super comfortable with a paper one over it.
This sorta tracks w/ my experience.
Received 2nd does moderna on 3/30.
Got COVID 3.5 months later.
But also not old or immunocompromised.

I would do a rotation of your conference champ games for all sports:
Basketball: Dallas/Houston, NOLA, Nashville, Atlanta
Football: Houston/Dallas, NOLA, Atlanta
Baseball/Softball: OKC and Hoover (maybe add in Nashville and Greenville/Columbia for baseball)Spread it around within your footprint.
Why not just move everything to NOLA. They have a AAA stadium that can host the baseball tourney. It's got the slurpee center or whatever for basketball.
There's a direct flight from almost every major city to there.
Great place to visit. And now it's practically central to the whole SEC now.
